Your talking about the Centre Left social democratic coutries The hard left are the communists, socialists and anarchists and they have been discredited ever since the fall of the USSR🙃
It's not extreme to want your government to care more about the safety of its citizens than that of migrants or to want less regulation, less surveillance, less speech policing and less wacky identity politics. Most poeple would vote for center or even progressive politicians if the identity and stuff was gone and safe streets were a priority. Instead, only the "extremists" listen to this basic set of wants and people are so desperate for a bit of normalcy that they'll overlook all the downsides. The rise of the right is simply a failure of the left.
just a quick question: how many expats integrated? I absolutely hate double standards, as if your horse blinkers are pressing that empty skull of yours, too hard.
never mind left and right, what about bottom to top - the 1% siphoning wealth from working people to buy more yachts and tell us to blame immigrants, it's delusional.
2:15 "Some of these parties are corrupt, some of them even harbour anti-democratic tendencies, some of them favour illiberal policies that could undermine the rights of" - ALL that can be said of ALL parties, so sadly. So that is no argument. We ALL need to get back to better politics.
Fascinating. Always worried about the "rise of the evil right" and never worried about the REASONS for the rise of the evil right. At this point people will have to elect actual fascists for anything to change.
I hope you are not referring to Meloni as a hard right (you've shown the photo). Meloni is giving full support against the wishes of the real hard right as well as the left and hard left. I think, you are a little confused and cannot differentiate between the real issues. Is Olaf Scholz hard right? He is not really supporting Ukraine, on the other hand Pistorius does .
Especially from this moment forward being hard right in Israel is a minimal requirement in order to maintain its survival in such a rough region which is unforgiving.
Isn't it the central power center, the EU, that has failed? There is a need for decentralization in the EU, so that spontaneity can be unleashed and competition can take place on regulation and taxation and the policies pursued.
A somewhat uninformed take. Putting the interest of the native population first, and protect your homeland against islamist invaders is not extremist, but common sense and is common in non-Westen countries such as India and Angola. The Economist should leave wokeism to specialised publications, i.e. the MSM.
Yeah, sure, that explains why the cost of living increases and wages slow down. It also describes the rise in inequality for workers while the top percent grows richer. I am a European citizen, and I am terrified that people are fine associating with a political agenda that mimics and employs fascist tactics and talking points. WW2 ended not that far ago, and we are going back?
Could be more if it wasn't because hard-right parties that had already been in power and changed politics for ever in that country. In Denmark the Danish People’s Party had so much influence from 2001-2009 that even the middle and the moderate-left now have a strong anti-immigration policy.

The people are tired. Tired of immigrant that won't be integrated. Tired of politicians who won't listen to the voters after being elected.
"Politicians who won't listen" - leads to everything else.
And far-right politicians always listen. Carefully. Even when you don't know.

Come on politicians! If you get out of the EU and expel the immigrants who else you will to blame for your countries problems?! 😂
This is interesting, European politics are so different from US
It is because mostly they are not in government in the EU.
It's very nice to see European diaspora (such as in America) supporting our struggle for remaining majorities in our homeland
