One time I got “Disneyland? That’s thematically incorrect.” I was laughing and screaming my ass off for the rest of the ride.
I've had an annual pass for 7 years and was pretty bummed out because TOT was one of my favorites and these videos of Mission Breakout weren't convincing me but I rode it today and I loved it
Just rode it twice today. Is amazing! I was skeptical before, but once you ride it you will realize how good it is compared to ToT. The music variety makes the ride exciting every time! I'll say it's an upgrade of DCA watered down ToT.

it is, It used to be tower of terror, But they changed it so now its Guardians of the Galaxy.

I've rode it twice now I have to say it's very refreshing. I was a huge ToT fan I even have the Disney Pins to prove it. Just the overall atmosphere was a nice change. I feel it's an overall smart move from Disney. As the "elevator" theme of ToT kept people away. Now I know a few people who were afraid of ToT wound up really liking the new ride.
Just went to ride it today. I am truly amazed at how to ride was. On video it looks boring. But it did blow my expectations. If you want to go on it, I suggest getting a fastpass as soon as the parks open. the line was 5 hours today. It suprised me as to the drops. The queue and beginning film in the waiting room was amazing. Definitely my favorite ride at the moment. Much better than Tower of Terror, and trust me. Tower of terror is very special to me.
I think it's pretty cool that there's a new ride that's in none of the parks. Don't pretty much all the parks have ToT? It's not like it's gone forever or they got rid of the original..
Well for people who don't have money to travel to Japan or the armpit of the east FL, WE WERE HAPPY WITH OUR OWN TOT. . . .

Yeah, Disney has a policy where, if a ride is replaced with a different ride but the old ride had clones in the other parks, those clones will NOT get shut down. They do this on the grounds of a.) so the old ride isn't completely gone and b.) to encourage people to visit the other parks.
Latter option isn't great for those with tighter wallets, but then again most of the Disney Park fans I've met have all wanted to visit the various other theme parks anyways, so it doesn't matter too much.
Some examples of this include:
-WDW's Magic Kingdom shutting down Mr Toad's Wild Ride for the Winnie the Pooh ride, but Disneyland keeping theirs' open.
-Magic Kingdom's Snow White's Scary Adventure shutting down for Seven Dwarf's Mine Cart Coaster (and New Fantasyland) but Disneyland's still being open.
That kind of thing.
I don't know that I'd call it a policy. Mission to Mars is completely gone. All the original Star Tours left. The Keel Boats left. Captain EO is gone. The Subs were removed at MK, and redone in Anaheim.
This ride is so fun! I was trying to think tower of terror will still be better but dang the ride is even more intense and crazy. Loved it
I see they really did add random drop sequences to the ride. I still think the ride looks pretty neat and everyone complaining probably haven't been on the actual ride yet.

This ride is so much fun omg. The rise / drop pattern is really random, so it's not quite the same ride twice!
Upgrade from ToT: The ride actually lasts longer AND its drops are randomized. *THANK YOU* for randomization. I got so bored knowing what ToT's pattern was.
Actually, since there are 6 different patterns all with a special song, I bet if you got to the point where you memorized the TOT patterns the same will happen for this ride withing a year (saying if you ride this every time you go)
But since there are 6 different patterns, you don't know which one you're going to get. That's the whole fun of it. It doesn't matter if you memorize what happens in each pattern, that's what he's trying to say. Every time you go on Tower of Terror, you know exactly what happens. Here, you don't know which variation will be picked. Same can be said about Star Tours.

The coolest part of this ride is the randomness and uniqueness of every ride. On of 8 or 10 songs is randomly chosen to play during the ride, and a random drop pattern is assigned. What makes it even more unique is that there is a number of scenes that can possibly play on the screens in between each drop, making every ride-through a total unique experience. I totally dig it. Oh, and if you're one of those Californian complainers whining because your nostalgia has been replaced by a better ride, then go ride the better ToT in Florida.

Can't satisfy everyone! But I was also concerned about this ride, until I went on it yesterday. I actually loved it, it's sooo much fun. Can't wait to go back and hear all the songs they have on the ride
ive been on this ride twice and its awesoem! also kinda scary i highly recommend you ride it but not if you get scared easlily
I love how at the end Drax totally mocks the fact that almost EVERY THEME PARK RIDE EVER thanks the guests for helping out the main characters, even though they don't do anything😂😂😂😂fucking brilliant!

This comment section. Not everyone loved the original ToT. Let people love this version. We needed something new for a long time. I think I might be bias to the change, I never liked ToT (due to the atmosphere), so having something super charming and upbeat is a good change. I might try the ride again.
I rode this 4 times this weekend and honestly it's a lot better in person, I had low expectations after watching videos but when you actually are there it's really fun. And it also depends which version you get since there are 6 different ones and I found that some are better than others.

Nathan Thornton you have to experience this, it's so much better in person. It's amazing! Best ride in the park now. (Also I wanted it to be like a phineaus and ferb sorta dr dofinsmerchutz inc ride)

This and California screamin are My favorite rides in Disneyland. Would definitely recommend to anybody wanting to be thrilled.

This video (while great) does no justice. When you experience this in person it's a million times better!! I was sad to see the original tower go but I'm glad this is what replaced it. I don't see how anyone can say it's unoriginal. While yes it does use the old tows skeleton it make it feel like a whole new ride! While it would have been nice to see the old tower still standing I'm glad I can experience this new one ❤️
I’ve grownup with TOT and it always made me heated to watch these videos about GOTG, but I’m actually quite pumped for it when i go in 4 weeks here. You don’t really know the rides atmosphere if you haven’t ridden it

There's six different versions of the ride all changing based on what song Rocket starts playing at the beginning leading to six different "Story lines"

the wave goodbuy room got a huge screen now and the hallway room has really cool lights installed the sound at the end were the hub cap sound and the crow drop sound got changed a little bit
I'm glad it has changed the drop and some rock music like Rock n' roller coaster.
I honestly still hurt after ToT But this looks like such a fun ride I can't wait to go on it!

I went on it twice and got the we want the funk experience, I'm ok with it cause it was a sick ride but I probably won't be visiting Disney for another couple years so I'm gonna miss this ride, it seriously is so much fun and a lot crazier than the Tower of Terror

I don't think it is necessary to complain. I don't think this will be better than TOT for me personally, but it's nice to see Disney update things. I just wish it wasn't at the expense of TOT. Can we get started on Tomorrowland now? If anything needs improvement, it's that....waiting for Star Wars Land to complete I guess

I‘ve been to both tower of terror and mission breakout (a 9 year gap between those rides) and for me, Guardians was way more fun since the ride changes every time. Also ToT needed a re-do.

Thats because it drops you right as you climb up when it was tower of terror you climbed up and listened to the narration of the story then you dropped.The drops are now randomly sequenced.
Haven't been on DL's ToT. Did it have the traveling cab like in WDW? It seems this ride you get in the car, and it just moves up and down.
That is cool compared to other povs it changes in rhythm and has a different song each time you ride.

Yeah seriously, the humidity alone almost killed me on my trip in 2006. I don't remember Tower of Terror then being that much better than Anaheim either. LOL

The brilliance of tower of terror was how timeless it was. The ride came before the unknown tower of terror movie and was such a classic. You could never get bored of the ride due to no serious plot besides that you are "traveling to another dimension" it was very thrilling and transported you to another place. Thats the magic of disneyland. As much as i do love guardians of the galaxy, it is pretty dumb to replace such a timeless ride with a trending movie. Movie trends change, this one will get old soon. What will they do then? Change the entire ride again? I understand Disneyland is starting to get more competition but so many other places in california adventure couldve used something like that, not a popular ride like tot. The guardians of the galaxy craze will die out one day and all that will be to waste. Also i wanted to mention that the ride just felt like i was watching a promo in 4D, not a ride. It reminds me of Nemo, and we saw how fast that ride died out. I think soon people will miss tot but we cant do anything about it. Amyways, thats my opinion lol.
I dunno Nemo always has like an hour wait when I'm there. And the fake waves on the railings make there no place to lean so it seems longer.
But I am tired of them trying to be universal studios. To me compared to Disney universal was always cheesier. The mummy ride is nothing special, and all the other rides are just a bunch a plasma screens. And Jurassic Park seems in serious need of repair!!! The heads are falling off of the dinos and half the effects dont work.
Disney needs to stop doing all these cash ins and go back to making more original rides. Think about it there is nothing like Expedition Everest anywhere and several overseas disney parks have an overlapping storyline that has nothing to do with any movie at all! Now that is cool!
hey its paris xoxo yes. I miss tot sooo much. Maybe if enough people miss it they will bring it back. I doubt they will, but you can still hope. Tot was the first "scary" ride I have been on so it will always have a big spot in my heart that I will miss so much. I miss the old Disney. Cute little rides with "robots" now they are using special effects in all their new rides. Next thing you know it they are going to tear down "Small world" or "splash mountain". Overall, I will miss tot deeply and will never miss it. -Princess Oatty

SA2112 I agree. If the TOT to GOTG change benefited the park, then I'm all for it(this is coming from someone who has never ridden the TOT.) However, it would have made a much better rollercoaster

my only disappointments are that the lights dont flicker on or off nor do the doors open bery often during the drops and it wont play hooked on a feeling. other than that, as a huge tower fan boy I LOVE IT! Its basically tower of terror, rock n roller coaster, and hints of space mountain combined. not to mention those are some of my favorite disney rides ever. all you whiners need to shut up and go to florida

Brian C there's expressing an opinion, then there's whining. expressing an opinion would be saying "meh, it doesnt look as good as i hoped" or "the CG could be a little better as well as the overall appearance of the ride". whining is "this ride is shit because it took away my tower of terror #savethetower" or "this is shit because its not the twilight zone #notmyride" if you cant actually give a legitimate reason other than "its not what we're used to", then you're just whining.

Amazing how different a ride can seem when, among other things, you switch the soundtrack from ominous bell tolls to a randomly chosen 80's song.

That felt like a ride from universal Orlando. I have a person distaste for simulation rides that just move you from screen to screen, they could have done so much more. Sad
