I got emotional watching this and I’m a fifty five year old man. These guys have put serious time, blood and sweat into this, living to the fullest. This represents the nicest side of human endeavour and exploration.

Given the emphasis on road safety and wearing of proper protective equipment, How do you get away with what can only be seen as non-standard headgear on what can be described as less than completely safe machines (Given with what you have to juggle with to keep them running!) with thin tyres, poor brakes and even poorer lights, it's amazing to see so many of these machines have survived this long!

yeah i was wondering as well...and it does not look a closed track...still i really think you brits take a lot more care of preserving history then us yanks seem to.( I own a 1962 sunbeam, i love).. Merukins just want to stick stucco all over everything including the cat if it stands still too long.

A lot of the old style hats scene were made to look like hats but I were actually fully British standard approved crash Elmet. The British standard approval is still valid as long as the kitemark is in place. However you’re not allowed to sell those helmets as protective gear. As for Slim tires and brakes you get used to them and also you wear out the soles of your boots.

is that a production bike with that chair instead a seat @ 23:56 ? what model is that ? i read only "TMC" on the engine block. the round tag above the front fender is to unclear to be read, it says something like Su...jam w.c.c. and below that Po...erh..ster or something like that. i guess that will be the brand name and the model name for that bike. interesting to have a chair instead a seat on a bike, that must be very comfy on long journeys to have a backrest and all that thick cushion. that bike with that engine appears streetched, i think it would more difficult to handle that stretched bike in a city, its more a bike for a long journey on a speedway. strange that it doesnt has a windshield in front of the riders legs, that would provide more protection and would decrease fuel consumption with less windresistance. hasnt harley-davidson made a bike with a chair similar to that in the 1920s ?

the starting procedures seem to be total chaos! Old Guys, who can hardly walk, try to start the bikes and cause further chaotic circumstances..and thousands of more bikes are pushing from behind...and those dangerous methods of starting and climbing on their bikes, being almost as old as those...it seems to be a lot of fun! P.S.: where do all these lovingly preserved 100-year-old bikes come from?

There are often machines from all over the world in the Sun been finally run. But the to my family campaign came to us from the rules for my 1914, son and my father later obtained a very similar machine X the National motor cycle Museum. We ran them for about 25 years before I lost my eyesight and had to give up riding though I lend my machine out to interested parties since it is one of the few that has been taking part in the pioneer run since the first one in 1931.

When I see all those elk horns handlebars and square tanks , as well as super dangerous pedal transmissions ....You can really see that when a "new" technology arrives (thermic motor ) , the orthodoxy of thinking , general copying of brands on one another prevails over genuine DESIGN from the ground up taking the new paradigm into account ....I'm not blaming early bikes for being primitive , I'm blaming them for being very very awkward bicycles someone slapped a motor on and all the copiers of that early idea to carbon copy even it's primordial flaws not thinking about ergonomics ( probably because like in all companies , the first guy who would have proposed a straight handlebar just over the direction axis to improve turning ability would have been laughed at by the other employees and then subsequently fired for thinking too much out of the box by the boss because "it's not what competitors are doing moron , and the fuel tank is too long , and nooo , don't tell me to reduce the length of the fuel tank , doing that we'll reduce autonomy " ) ....The colors and quality of manufacture on those are really good tho , love the steampunk style !
