Hey quick tip, you don't need 2 devices for double sided curtains: you just need a nail at the end of each side of the curtain track so as to wrap a wire around it. With the unit on the left curtain side, have one wire attached to the right side of the unit going to the right hand side, wrap around the nail (180*) and attach to the first link of the right curtain, while the other wire will be attatched to the left side of the unit and go to the left hand side, wrap around the nail and attach to the same link of the right curtain.
Best use fishing wire to do this. It works for the switchbot so no need to worry about weight, since this unit is more powerful than that one.
Actually this is pretty good tip. I completely forgot about it. Someone mentioned this to me when I spoke about zemismart

I do love the Aqara products I was going to order the Aqara curtains x2 when I watch your video and seen the size on it changed my mind in stead I other x2 SwitchBot rod 2 because they are on offer on Amazon plus fantastic video again bravo 👏
They are huge but in all fairness you can't see them. You won't be disappointed with SwitchBot either pretty nippy devices.

I gotta say there is no clear winner in my books. Both devices bring something to the table and I have to say both SwitchBot and Aqara make really interesting products. I'm yet to get disappointed by either of them.
These look great at the price point! Interested to see the support in a Z2M and Node-RED setup, I might have to order some and find out for myself 😅
I'm on holiday next week but i'll jump on that after that. Aqara stuff is usually well supported in Z2M

I have a couple of these and am really struggling to get them setup to my satisfaction. I want to control them via z2m using home assistant but I really can't seem to get the limits correctly configured without using the aqara hub. The best I have got is either the drivers "automatically" detect the limits and leaves a 2" gap in the middle of my window (each drivers stops around 1" short" or there are no limits and each drivers runs for around 30 seconds after it has reached the end of travel. At least in this second scenario the curtains are fully closed but running for that much longer sounds rubbish and will no doubt drain the battery.
I also have issues with the driver slipping on my curtain pole - it is the correct width and I have tried re-locking the driver several times.
The limits thing is because they don't make their full run. Say it knows the pole is 5 units total and something blocked it on its opening sequence: it will then compensate on its closing sequence. You should calibrate again and try doing it all in one go, that worked for me. Also could try increasing friction between your Rod and the wheel where it slips. Try carefully washing the surface of the rubber wheel somehow
Think this would handle a heavy sliding door 1 piece curtain???
It can pull up to 12kg of weight - so it depends how heavy it is and what's the friction is like

Only if your bridge has a device like curtain puller in the ecosystem. For these cross ecosystem stuff to work, the device type needs to be supported by the hub. I know Tuya hub would work
Will you be able to use curtains manually on some ocastions and will they need some kind of calibration after that or this gadget always knows where it is position even if you move it manually
Yes, just start the drag, and the unit will complete the move for you
I’m having problem adding driver e1 into the app. I’m using G3H as a hub. May I know which hub are you using?
I tested it with M2 hub but I seen the update notes on G3H that firmware has added support for that few weeks back. Are you on the latest version?
Hey is it possible to control the hooks for getting the motor to the rod via app or ZigBee? I would like to have also the possibility to open the curtain by hand.
Yes you can move the curtain to trigger the movement
There is a Bluetooth version on AliExpress. Do you think that the Bluetooth version compatible with home assistant with Bluetooth dongle ? I am living in Turkey and there is no option Zigbee version for me nowhere selling :(
Take a look at switchbot as well - they have API which you can use for cloud integrations, and Bluetooth dongle was used in one of the videos from Blakadder

It should be, Zigbee 3.0 devices are compatible with each other
