That moment when you turn around to see your backing band includes Phil Collins, Sting, Eric Clapton, Carl Perkins, Mark Knopfler and Elton John. I suppose you wouldn't be too fazed if you happened to be Macca.
What a historic moment! It looks like an amazing show full of old-school legends. Only people who are missing are Ozzy Osbourne and Brian May. Wonderful line up for 1997 or any year.
Watching this, I would say in that moment, they were all 15 again- with the amps and drums- playing Fats Domino and being bowled over with the great rock and roll sound they were hearing for the first time. Amps. Mikes. Live drums! I know. Like many of you. We all started the same way. In somebodies' parents garage or basement. As a musican, you chase that first thrill your entire life.
Woooow! Oh my god paul, you are great! He sounds like in the good all days. It's unbelieveable exactly the same voice at least in this video.. still great! :)
always happy to see sting freaking out with McCartney's vocals in minute...2.40's... it is like, his smile says it al...... there he is, the king of voice emotion!!!... PAUL MC CARTNEY. the.... GREATEST.
This is all positive history in the making. There is nothing bad about this group of history makers and it was awesome to see all of them on stage at one time. I was 3 feet away from Elton John and just that concert alone was something I will never forget. If you were here this would be awesome memories to share.
1. Wow, I've never seen George Martinn playing anything that is not a piano before. 2. I thought Carl Perkins had already passed away when this happened; this must have been one of his last (if not his last) public appearance..... God bless him. 3. Love Ray Cooper looks like he's making love with his tambourines, he's so happy always, you can't not love him, can you? 4. Too bad Mark Knopfler didn't get a solo. 5. Wow, Macca sounds exactly like in his 1964 recording. Great performance!!
Music For Montserrat was a concert held on September 15, 1997 at the Royal Albert Hall. Musicians came together to raise funds for the Caribbean island of Montserrat after a major volcanic eruption earlier that year had left the island devastated. The concert starred musicians such as Phil Collins, Ray Cooper, Carl Perkins, Jimmy Buffett, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Midge Ure, Arrow and many more.
Totally awesome!!! The range of talent on display on that stage all playing together almost makes my heart stop!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ I don't think we'll ever see their like again♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️....
Showtime needs to re-master this, improving the sound quality, mix and mastering...it was a real quality night of music that deserves to be preserved...we don't have Carl Perkins any longer and others will go in time. I had the opportunity to work with #'s of artists recording at the Montserrat AIR Studios. it was a very special place over a special time that will never come again.
And at 3:04... How do you make Mark Knopfler AND Eric Clapton smile??? You play the SHITE out of the piano like Jools Holland does right there! I LOVE Jools Holland!!!!!
Raymond Thomas "Ray" Cooper He is a session and road-tour percussionist who has played for yrs with so many greats...he often accompanies Paul as part of the band. But Paul also uses Wick for percussionist a lot too. Look up Ray - his list of who he has played with it really long as you said, you have seen him a ton...what is listed is only the tip of ice berg of who all he has played with/for.
Paul with crazy vocal - Priceless

Amazing when you consider that everybody up there is on the greatest rankings for their instrument...pinnacle of musicianship
Fijn om te zien hier zijn geen woorden voor , muziek die zijn weerga niet kent Gewéldige Muziekanten ❤ 🇳🇱 ONVERGETELIJK 🎸
❤❤❤grandi grandi musicisti grande Paul❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
It is wonderful, when you consider that that all lived in the same era.
Cuanto talento reunido.... ! 🙂
What a historic moment! It looks like an amazing show full of old-school legends. Only people who are missing are Ozzy Osbourne and Brian May. Wonderful line up for 1997 or any year.
Paul is the GREATEST ! ..... however, he needs that Hofner violin bass ! ..... : )
The last concert for the great legendary sun artist carl perkins.
Watching this, I would say in that moment, they were all 15 again- with the amps and drums- playing Fats Domino and being bowled over with the great rock and roll sound they were hearing for the first time. Amps. Mikes. Live drums!

So many legends on stage.. This concert must have been absolutely AMAZING!
I agree!!!!!!!! This rendition of "Kansas City" blows my mind!! It doesn't get better than this!!!!
Woooow! Oh my god paul, you are great! He sounds like in the good all days. It's unbelieveable exactly the same voice at least in this video.. still great! :)
Michelle Blos, he sounds even BETTER than in The Beatles times.
@@polandsopotgirl Dont forget "the Wings", please ...
No he doesn't.. He sounds old.. because he is.. But thats good
@@koopalovetoast2409, he wasn’t that old in this video and still could reach the notes!
Now this is the ultimate jam session🎼
You f****n bet!!!😃😃♥️♥️♥️♥️
I just love how Paul is like
*finger shoots up* "BAM! Eric Clapton time!"
PAUL HAS STILL AMAZING VOICE!!!
About 10 years earlier he would have made it sound even better 😊
he really had the pipes that cover so many notes
always happy to see sting freaking out with McCartney's vocals in minute...2.40's... it is like, his smile says it al...... there he is, the king of voice emotion!!!... PAUL MC CARTNEY. the.... GREATEST.
Sadly the last live show for the Great Carl Perkins. He passed away just a few months after this performance.
This is all positive history in the making. There is nothing bad about this group of history makers and it was awesome to see all of them on stage at one time. I was 3 feet away from Elton John and just that concert alone was something I will never forget. If you were here this would be awesome memories to share.
No sh** I'll bet!!!👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
Ya know, if the whole greatest songwriting partnership in history thing didn’t work out, Paul would have made a great blues singer.
He is absolutely georgeous in blues! ua-cam.com/video/m-hUqMqpe3M/v-deo.html I just love this piece!
One of the best concerts all times...
Amazing performance… love Jools great piano playing!
Wow, Carl Perkins still looking spry here. What a cast of greats. Paul can still hit the high notes here. Great version of this song!
1. Wow, I've never seen George Martinn playing anything that is not a piano before. 2. Yeah I was well sorry Mark Knopfler didn't get a solo here - bit of an omission there😔😔😔😔
An All-Star Band! The legendary Carl Perkins, George Harrison's idol, shortly before he passed on.
McCartney and Knopfler should do something together.
I wanted to see Carl Perkins and Mark Knopfler do something together....
thx. btw. love Pauls understatement here, he looks like he is going to rehearse with his garageband next door.

thanks for the information!
Just the small fact of Elton John on piano also.
Totally awesome!!! The range of talent on display on that stage all playing together almost makes my heart stop!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ I don't think we'll ever see their like again♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️....
Yes, we will.
McCartney, Knopfler, Clapton, Sting, Collins, John, Holland, Cooper, the amount of legends on that stage is mind blowing
What about Perkins, then?
Elton John
Holland ain’t a legend unless you like some boogie woogoe piano over your rock classics
God knows how many platinum records & Grammys are on that stage.
Wow....what a collection of great names all jamming together.....love it!
This is the heaven... So much talent in same concert
The late Carl Perkins.... fine to see him. He will not be forgotten.
Showtime needs to re-master this, improving the sound quality, mix and mastering...it was a real quality night of music that deserves to be preserved...we don't have Carl Perkins any longer and others will go in time. Most of my all time favorite musicians.....
Cuántos instrumentos, Cuánto coros y una sola voz potente 👏👏👏
Thanks a lot for this. 💕
Fantastic!
Love this ,this is heaven on earth!
When your backing band consist of Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Phil Collins, Carl Perkins and Elton John, you might be Paul McCartney.
Carl was at last but always the best ! Rip. MV
proving that paul still has his rock voice
Magnífica interpretación, como se regodean..... 👀
Tremendo tema y lleno de monstruos el escenario. Buenísimo no me canso de verlo
La banda de los sueños, bata phil , bajo sting, guitarra clapton, piano elton y voz principal Paul
Ray Cooper dando um show a parte
Ele ta em todas!!
It was Carl Perkins' last live performance, yes. He died a few months later, if memory serves.
Paul really needs an instrument when performing live.
Ummm... a bass maybe? I mean, he plays it occasionally!
@@prathameshbhambure I got the Ringo reference 😆
Why didn't he play the bass???
@@colinluckens9591 no idea
Something, cuz he can't dance!
Kansas City resident here proudly jamming out!!
The volume button is disappointing me! >:(
That's the definition of a concert!!!
So Much Legends on one little stage, too bad we didn't get to hear Mark Knopfler play a solo but still loved the video
Agree with you as regards Mark 😔😔😔😔.....
How can one stage hold that much talent?
Gary Clark Jr.
Poodle Dog Lounge.
He did it justice. Love this song.
this video should get millions and millions of views very soon
Ray Cooper, y siempre está en los mejores conciertos británicos.
The moment you look ahead and see you are the backing band for a Beatle.

สุดยอด Super Stars
I did lighting for a Carl Perkins show once and he was just every inch the gentleman.
Raymond Thomas "Ray" Cooper He is a session and road-tour percussionist who has played for yrs with so many greats...he often accompanies Paul as part of the band. Esto es una joya!!!!!!!!!!
Eric is rockin those cargo pants
That's what I call a BAND !
Isn't that also Elton John on one of the Pianos? A great combination of musicians.
it is him!
Great vid. There just seems to be more players on stage than fans in the audience. LOL.
INCREIBLE ESTE CONCIERTO QUIEN REUNE ESTA GENTE CON CUANTO DINERO LOS PUEDE REUNIR? QUE CONCIERTAZO!!!
I didn’t know sonny Corleone could play lead guitar 🎸
Well done Billy !!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
If some haven't noticed: CARL PERKINS, the COMPOSER of KANSAS CITY, was also on stage...
He didn't compose the song, it's a Leiber-Stoller tune
Unfortunately, the volume is poor.
And Jools Holland?! the whole company has gathered!😀🎸🤟
q tales músicos carajo
This is one of the luckiest audiences of all time!
He combined 2 songs!!
Da ya know what is this?......TALENT
Billy the kid
The one and only
Bravo !!!!👏🏼✌🏼
The moment when you turn around and see David hasselhoff playing lead guitar in a superband
Paul McCartney, Elton John, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Carl Perkins, Sting, George Martin... WOW
pqp show de bola!
Just YES!
Paul is so awkward with his hands when he's not holding an instrument.
Even Joe Cocker. And he's not even playing an instrument
Any instrumentalist would act the same. Haha!
@@prathameshbhambure Joe Cocker is not actually... But I don't know.. maybe from the LSD he's using
What about Elton John? right at the beginning?
to jest to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weird how this mimics the Rockestra footage of Lucille from Kampuchea 1979.
3:49 is George Martin? Whaaaat woooooo
