    I would like to thank you Jack. My family and I have always been huge movie buffs. We are always watching and enjoying movies or going to see new releases. Over the years, from reading and reading, I had learned that every frame and line in a movie or production always means something or leads to something. So, over the years I found myself analyzing why a show would zoom in on certain objects or certain frame transitions. You have helped me now look at the bigger picture of a movie all together. Not always analyzing every piece of a movie but looking at all the pieces and how they work together to create a great movie; with character development, and a good, steady, plot. So, thank you jack. I look forward to watching more of your films and making my way through your channel!

    I'm watching it tomorrow and as someone who loved the first film I am excited for this one, but this means the only thing I can talk about is the soundtrack and why ot works so bloody well. It's because it's written into the script, the actors hear the songs while acting and because it means something it's a part of the movie. Which is why when people compare it to SQ I can get really annoyed, that wasn't a great soundtrack it was a good PLAYLIST of great songs that could make it look edgy and new songs by massivly popular groups.

    I was also genuinely surprised at how emotional it was!
    I was surprised that I cared about all of the characters to an extent; Drax and Mantis more than I expected.
    Honestly there was a scene with Groot where he is walking slowly down a hallway.... to those who have watched it, I have never felt so angry at a group of strangers in a movie in my life!

    saw it only a couple of hours ago and man i love it
    one thing i like in a film is if it can get me to cry, i mean its not hard to make me cry but i think its pretty talented when a film makes salty water fall from my eyes, a person can make you cry when they are in front of you talking and interacting and when you really think about it, its a screen with pictures and images of things that are far from reality. This can do the same thing as a person close to you making you cry. i dont know i just think that's pretty cool
    man and the soundtrack, its just so good. when you listen to a really good song and the atmosphere is just perfect, like a epic song when you're driving through a mountain range or a cathartic song when you walk hood up in the rain with earphones ignoring the world. ah it just makes me incredibly happy. i felt this way watching the chain play near the closing. ah just wonderful

    I saw GOTGVol2 at the London screening on Monday, and I've pretty much been saying exactly what you're saying about it. Especially with the jokes as usually I criticise films for having levity where it's not needed or when it ruins a tense moment but it absolutely worked in this film. I really loved it and the opening sequence was one of my favourite parts; it reintroduces and reaffirms every character brilliantly and really connects the film to the weird psychedelic 80s theme that the GOTG comics actually are. Glad you liked it Jack!

    I pretty much agree with you all the way through. I think my only gripe with the movie was that there were times when the characters seemed like they suffered from a bit of Flanderization. Hopefully they don't take the character tropes too far in the inevitable follow-up. Overall the movie was fun as heck and made me feel things too

  • @hojusara
    @hojusara 7 років тому +1

    You have yet again managed to sum up my thoughts far more eloquently than I can. I definitely agree with it being a bit clunky in places and having some scenes in there that were fun but not necessarily necessary. Buuuutttt that being said it was still a great film for me, I loved the visuals of it all (It's great to get away from the dark moody comic book film look that's saturated the genre), and I was really surprised in a good way at all the little touching moments. Also I always loved Groot but I didn't think it was possible to want to adopt a CGI character. Well turns out, it is.

    I agree with absolutely everything you said. I liked it better than the first film! I think maybe because they didn't really need to do much "world building", or in this case galaxy building, they were able to stick to character development, which I really appreciated. It was also super refreshing to have the characters be so comfortable with each other. It was just great and I loved it. Thanks for your thoughts, Jack!

    I saw the first film really late into its cinema run. Everyone had built it up so much that when I finally saw it, I didn't find it as entertaining as I thought I would. I think you should do a review of all (most) of the recent marvel movies - like which ones have the best action sequences, character developments, plot arcs, etc and basically piecewise the different components together to create the best superhero movie of all time. I also think you should make it with someone else (like Hazel or Daniel J.) and compare what your final results are to see how different components of movies have different meanings to different people and because I enjoy your film thoughts/review segments. And your videos in general lol 😄. If you see this - hope you're having a great day!

    Totally agree with what you said bout Dr. Strange, that bit at the end where Wong finally laughs at a joke - killed any tension that that massive fucking fight had created and then any further attempts at serious plot development or finishing just felt odd

    I finally saw the first Guardian movie two nights ago, and wasn't overly excited by it, so I was relieved to hear your initial viewing also didn't go well. I do think I'll enjoy it more the next time I watch it, as I cared more for the characters at the end of the movie than I did through most of it. I'm glad to hear they do more character development in the second movie. *good news* Congrats on meeting Josh Whedon!! I LOVED the first movie, and actually consider it to be my favorite movie ever. That being said, I think Vol. 2 fits with the first. Not that it's better or worse... it just fits. I don't think Vol. 2 works as a standalone movie, but it definitely works with the first. I loved it thoroughly and I hope to catch it again while it's still in cinemas :)

  • @RubyintheSky
    @RubyintheSky 7 років тому

    I went to see the movies in a midnight premiere-marathon kinda deal, and I thought it was brilliant! I'm not always sure how I feel about the relations between the characters, but I think they did a really good job on both films with all of them having actual, fleshed out, different identities and goals.
    I thought the villain was really interesting (even though I did see it coming a little bit) and their story gave really good food for thought, as they obviously share similarities with things in our own world. I also really like how, unlike in some other marvel films and Sherlock, most of the time you can actually keep up with what's happening rather than going 'aaah' in hindsight.
    Overall: zero regrets for ruining my chances of a proper night's sleep.

    i seen it yesterday and enjoyed it.. I'm a bit of a Marvel nut and usually when I come out of the cinema after seeing an MCU movie I straight away delve in and analyse everything.. With Guardians Vol. 2 I didn't. I just ENJOYED it. Which is a breath of fresh air for the MCU!

    My feelings about the film are pretty similar to yours. I think I enjoyed this one more than the first one too, but maybe it's because i haven't seen the first one in a while. But wow I am bloody attached to these characters

  • @leighfleming9188
    @leighfleming9188 7 років тому

    I completely agree! I really enjoyed the first film and this film was really enjoyable. Some parts of this one did feel a bit clunky and the emotions were a bit over kill but the whole villain and the plot with his dad I thought was really interesting. I felt that the whole sister love thing was over kill but it's only a few things that I didn't like about the film. Over all I thought it was well put together and a nice film. Baby groot was super cute but I'm ready for him to be a big tree again honestly. I'm excited for the new film and having Adam warlock as the new villain, that will be really cool to see how they revamp him.

    Loved that they went light on the romance and instead focused on the whole sister-bond-thingy. Also for me the movie showed that biological fathers aren't always the best dads and to combine these two messages with a sci-fi action comedy... well done I'd say.

    The fight at the end for me felt like Harry and Voldemort with all the flying about. I too thought this was so much greater than the first. Especially the way the humour was done, so much more authentic than Dead Pool. The character development with Rocket, Nebula - I was laughing one minute and almost wanting to cry the next. Great aesthetic, great soundtrack, exceeded my expectations going in.

  • @RunDoubleRun

    I really felt like this was the first Marvel film that really nailed an ensemble cast while making each character feel like they had a meaningful part in the film. Mostly this comes down to everything being really strongly tied around a theme. All the subplots and character arcs fit thematically (whereas Civil War, for example, was a bit messy with how some of the subplots dovetailed into the main plot).
    I also think you're absolutely right, this is the first time since Loki that they've had a really compelling villain. Not perfect, but up there. Potentially my favourite Marvel film?

    I was sad at the end when I thought he wasn't going to mention the soundtrack - fleetwood Mac specifically - but I guess I'm kind of psychic

    I was hoping you would mention Loki when you said "finally a good villain" cause GOD (that's what Loki is) he was so perfectly written and Tom Hiddleston is amazing.

    I had that exact thought about Man of Steel when they were flying about smashing each other except this time I wasn't sat waiting for it to be over and to leave the cinema

    i liked it. loved that characters and felt everything more or less had a good amount of screen time. there was also very little useless scenes which i love

    Is there a video of jack ranting about man of steel because I fucking hate that film

    I agree in the caring about all the characters, but I think GotG2 actually managed to get in some backstory for all the characters, and I think that helped massively with the interconnectivity between them all. I hadn't seen the first GotG, and I honestly don't think it mattered as long as you were aware that there was a previous film, since they managed to explain so much with only a few lines, or facial expressions - essentially it just flowed really well. Saying that, I am off to go and watch the first one because volume 2 was wonderful and had the whole cinema in stitches.

      I think there are 5. None are particularly exciting. But they're all fun.
