Defensive skiing - can totally relate, especially on steep, icy, crud. It's a challenge to get that confidence and just GO. Side note: it always blows my mind HOW close people pass, even in your videos. When I'm focusing on drills or skiing crud, I'm like a 4 year old with a crayon; the turn shapes can be a bit wacky. (I can't quite colour inside the lines without specifically focusing on it yet.) People are absolutely INSANE to go flying by at full speed with what feels like inches to spare. O_o I always give other people way more room than is necessary. Especially unpredictable intermediates like me.
Yes, it is tough to get used to that sensation to GO. But once you have it a couple of times it feels awesome 🤩
Yes to be honest only when I started these videos did I realise that.
1. How close people get when overtaking.
2. How my head is always looking left and right.
I knew those things but not how much they happened. Very interesting.
Thank you for your comment.

Thanks for the tips! It is nice to be reminded that I am not the only one that can ski parallel on the easier slopes but reverts back to pizza-like turns on steeper terrain. The "offensive" vs "defensive" mindsets are spot on. As soon as my mind classifies a slope as "difficult", I get super defensive in my turns. I noticed that even on milder slopes, where I feel confident, my outside ski is a second late to turn so I spend a brief part in a small pizza. I hope the sliding drill will help with that.
I would love to see a video on how to do a US blue (Europe red) at the end of the day, when it gets bumpy, and how to progress from that to moguls.
Hi Theo,
Here is a video on beginner moguls which can be applied to bumpy pistes at the end of the day.

I will shoot another one when that terrain shows itself here again.
Thank you for your comment.
Here is a video that helps with bumpy pistes.

Offensive or defensive also depends for me on how the slope is at that time. Are there a lot of people and is it chopped up/bumpy and icy (like the last couple of days in France 😅) I’ll ski more defensively, if the slopes are more empty and less bumpy I’ll ski more offensively. With lessons my skiing became so much better. Now I can feel when I’m doing something wrong and what and try to fix it 😅
Yes understanding what is happening and why is a great way to be able to change something.
Thank you for your comment 😁
why do you have 2 sticks if you only use the left one
The camera is in the other hand
Exactly, I have my camera on a selfie stick.
