Drežniška koza

Drežniška koza je edina slovenska avtohtona pasma koz. Izvira iz severozahodnega območja Slovenije, iz Drežniškega in Bovškega. Pasmo odlikuje izredna odpornost in prilagojenost na skromne razmere reje ter pašo na strmih terenih. Ima odlično izražene telesne lastnosti, ki so pomembne in potrebne za rejo v takšnih pogojih. Po namenu reje ločimo mlečni in mesni tip drežniške koze. Koza ima telesno maso 45-60 kg, odrasli kozli pa so od 20 do 30 kilogramov težji. Odlikuje jo čvrsta konstitucija, telesna moč in odpornost. Z njeno ohranitvijo se poleg naravne in kulturne dediščine ohranja tudi biotska raznovrstnost v slovenski živinoreji.

The "Drežniška koza" (koza = goat) is the only Slovenian autochthonous goat breed. It originates from the northwestern part of Slovenia, from Drežnica and Bovec. The breed is characterized by exceptional resistance and adaptation to modest breeding conditions and grazing on steep terrain. It has perfectly expressed physical characteristics that are important and necessary for breeding in such conditions. According to the purpose of breeding, we distinguish between dairy and meat type of Drežnica goat. The goat weighs 45-60 kg and the adult goats weigh 20 to 30 kg. It is distinguished by a strong constitution, physical strength and resilience. With its preservation, in addition to natural and cultural heritage, biodiversity in Slovenian livestock farming is also preserved.
