Whether I use the "usmap" package or the "maps" package, different errors are made drawing the map. The "usmap" package has the advantage of including Alaska and Hawaii in the lower-left of the map, but they are both drawn incorrectly (as is the Northern part of Michigan). If I use the "maps" package as you did for the United States (which has the advantage of making the 'polyconic' option available), then Washington state, Michigan (Southern part), New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia have drawing-errors.
Try something like this:

Why I always get the Error in library(mapproj) : there is no package called ‘mapproj’,Error in library(mapdata) : there is no package called ‘mapdata’, Error in library(ggmap) : there is no package called ‘ggmap’? Did I miss something? Please help, I'm using R on MacBook Air.

very useful lecture, but prof. may I ask plot a geom for another particular country (such as Vietnam) which is not available divided by different state like US. How can I fill by region (like 60 + provinces in Vietnam)
