    There is also the selection by numeric in the ribbon tool (set edge to =0).

      True. One advantage of this solution, however, is that you can learn to select those verteces so you can delete them, move them, or even detach them to another object. You also become more familiar with more tools instead of pressing one button.

      That never worked really for me. It ignores them.

    I usually do the same thing , but after trying "delete isolated verts" in editable poly
