Over the past 5 years I’ve come back to this video over and over again-like dozens of times. I’ll randomly think of it and just have to pull it up. JUST CAN’T GET OVER IT. I feel certain I’m not alone. Any other cult classic type listeners of KAN out there?
You certainly aren't alone Joe. This piece is so dynamic, 'driving', compelling, evocative, racy and just downright gorgeous! Nice to know there are others out there who feel the same when they listen to this phenomenal performance.
It must have been around 1976, I was 16 y. old, when I went through the collection of our local record shop, somewhere in the Netherlands, dissatisfied with the music I'd heard sofar, when my eyes catched a cover with four people holding their instruments and forming 'The Bothy Band'. The moment I heard the first chords, I was lost and I was home. 'The maids of mitchelstown' still is hauntingly beautiful. At the time there was a Dutch band called Flairck, clearly inspired by the celtic musical tradition and with the 'Butterfly' prominent on their first album. I was on the right track, it was seeded in my soul. Long story short, I played Stivell's à L'Olympia hundreds of times. And then came bands like Shooglenifty, Kila, Lunassa, and ..... Flook. Turn on, tune in and fall apart. Again and again. Amazing. Finnegan is a gift.
Went to Ortigueira that night, this was an absolute discovery for me...nobody could stop dancing that music. That mad whistle player, with his rhythm section travelled far above the rest...
This to me is just Celtic perfection! Especially get goosebumps when the crowd are chanting 'hey' in time with the music! Definitely one of my all time favourite performances of all time! Oh and we definitely need a live album of this show!
Actos Management just thought you guys should know I watch this performance every week because honestly it's THAT good! I really loom forward to a live album :D
stumbled across this.... listened to it a few times... found everything else I could of KAN, then returned and listened to this another 20 times... I cannot get enough... almost a decade too late but how lucky am I that this is here on the net for me to listen to over and over to!?
I got music chills from this music the first time I listened to it. This generally only happens with great songs that I have heard before but haven't listened to for a long time. Epic music!
They released "Sleeper" in 2012 - dunno if it's what you're looking for. It has this song on it as well as the Queen of Rangoon etc. www.amazon.co.uk/Kan-Sleeper-Music-CD/dp/B007KE1IAK

Here I am almost in 2024 and still coming back to this priceless jewel ☘️

I can attest that you are not alone! I currently have their CD in my car!

Been a huge Brian Finnegan fan for a long time. So cool to have this guy on my album! This is a sublime performance. Well done mate!
It is not difficult if you get in touch, he is usually willing to collaborate with other musicians
He was a joy to work with. Tried him out on a well known cuban song. Not released yet.
hello!can you just tell me something more about Kan please?
Stunning music of the heart. Got to feel it in the soul.
Lightly! Rithmically! Amazing!

Good question.
Actos; you're welcome. While I enjoy the studio cd, Kan live does seem more dynamic.
Live is more dynamic and exciting.
Cheers
You can trust me...I was there, they were like a powertrain steaming...
👍
Брайнушка, оставайся у нас насовсем. Пачпорт тебе дадим)))
A morder esquinas ,ja ja bailalo
Baiuca
Cómo se maneja Resines con el violín. Un grande.
Pues no veas Pepe viyuela con la flauta, jajaja
What's the name of the last tune in this medley?
The song is a variation on a Brian Finnegan composition called Nigth ride to Armagh that appears on his solo album "The Ravishing genius Of Bones"
i really want to see him in his concerts, does anyone know how to do it?
Unfortunately at this time it is impossible since he has decided not to continue together as a group. Maybe in the future.
Actos Management
oh that is a big pity. But thank a lot for your good information.seems that he wants to play alone😖
@@user-yr8ue4tx5c he's playing with a band called "Flook" now. I think he switched between the two bands.
Actos; just one more thing; where/how will such a release be announced? Thanks.
At the moment we think about it and see what possibilities we have to carry it out.
we announced on our web www.actosmanagement.com
Why is there basque and galician flags?
+M.A.V World because that's where the show was
+MGHM And also because they are also Celts they belong.
+lights779 Ortigueira is a city in the north of Galicia, Spain. Basque flags are not there because of the location of the city where this took place but because all of the north of Spain is mainly Celt

See Pórtico de la Gloria at Santiago, have a sight on those celtic instruments sculpted almost thousand years ago, and tell me...
Where is the bass player?
The guitarist has an octaver that makes the bass
Creo que debia de ser "Night Ride", no "Nigth Ride",
I think that should be not
preferred the Flook version...just sayin'..................
Brilliant !!
muy fuerte esto viva kan flook Lau
