Hi Eric, first thank you for all the good content you have put out lately, between the Q&A, the builds, man that's a lot of work. Then on this particular repair, really nice job especially on this kind of wood.
Great repair! Whats your thought on hitting it with a bit of steam n heat to let the fibers expand a little more and perhaps make it even less visible? Anyways thanks for sharing all the knowledge!
That absolutely sucks that it happened with so many hours invested into the build. Was that material from Hearnes?
17:40 It takes an experienced and mature repairperson to acknowledge when something is good enough and to step away- well done, sir
If any of the inlay shows ,I mark the opposite side with matching colour graining marker .This fools the eye with bookmatch appearance.
Sunburst or black guitar on the way?
thank you Eric . wow what a pucker factor . so true oil n sand paper to finish it up?
Would a syringe have helped with laying in the glue? (Though admittedly you did well with the bottle.) I would have worried about getting too much glue in the hole.
For tight spaces like this, a syringe does well. 18ga blunt tip needles are what you're looking for. The completely flat ended ones. I can probably dig up a product code if anyone is interested
Nice repair Eric!
Who was the bonus camera person? Give credit where credit is due…
Your repair was excellent! Nicely done!
Great job, thanks for sharing your repair techniques and explaining the why you took that approach.
Great repair Eric. It'll be interesting to see it when the finish is on.
Fish glue.
Or hide glue?
