My sister in law had a philosophy that if you get 10 new toys you donate 10 toys, and she stuck to that religiously. They had to tidy up every night before bed. Living in a small house, you have to come up with ways to save space.😊
Toy rotation is a game changer! I keep our rotation toys in the closet instead of our shed for the same reason. I don't want them to get ruined. Girl Nolan can tell if I put away any if his toys. Lol. So funny how they know! The room looks so good and organized. The curtains make the room look cozy. 🦋
What i did with my kids when they were kittle and we lived in ab apartment and soace was limited is if my kids got new toys they had to donate the amount they got new .I also watched everyday if the toys they didnt play with id go in their rooms and get bags and put them in there and id store it in our storage unit and when they weren't playing with what they had anymore id get bags and put those in the bags and then id pull out the other ones id stored and it was like Christmas for them.

Over time i realized it was all too much and when the kids would have birthday parties I’d say “no gifts please “, and we’d just have a big party. It was so much fun! And then no worries about where to put all the new toys, especially if they had a birthday close to Christmas.

🦋 when my children were your children’s ages, we did rotation and within one week of receiving gifts, we were in their rooms taking an equal amount out whether it be toys or clothes or stuffed animals- the one in-one out rule.
When my kiddos were small we had toy boxes for each kiddo and our thing was what fits in the toy boxes is what stayed in the house and what didn’t went into storage until we did a toy rotation. Thanks for the video. 🦋

Going on 4 years doing toy rotations. Works great, everytime I rotate I will remove any toys that weren't played with. If you don't do that, things will quickly get out of control again when birthdays, Christmas, Easter, etc come around. I also made picture labels for my kids to easily be able to put things away. My kids are 6 and 3 and tidy up their rooms independently. You are off to a great start with you4 organization systems ❤

I don't do rotation on my 7 year olds toys, but this is a great idea. I did get one of them rolling sports carts for his nerf guns and that made a world of difference in organizing his toys.
I recently kinda did a clean of my daughter's room. I got rid of so much stuff. That was right before Christmas, and now it's a mess again. She has sooo many barbies and I need to find a better way to store them. It is always nice to see other moms admitting that cleaning and organizing their kids' room is daunting. I'd like to take those magic shots but from what i was reading because of some of my meds, I need to talk to my doctor. I am always trying to find something to give me a boost.🦋

Wow, this really brought back a flood of memories from when my children were young and shared a room, as well as the times when they didn't! It's funny how things have changed over the years. Back in the 90s, I had never even heard of toy rotation, but now I realize how beneficial it would have been. It truly makes so much sense! I really miss those chaotic yet fulfilling days of having little ones around. Interestingly, I find myself doing a similar type of clean-up and purge these days, but with my crafting supplies. I have accumulated way too much stuff, so maybe it's time for a craft supply rotation lol?🦋

An inspirational video once again. I found a deep shelf book case worked very well with my son and daughter. They had 2 shelves each. Easy to see what they wanted to play with, easy to put away when they're done. also don't forget about your vertical space such as inside their closet, on the wall aside the door. You can place hooks to hang backpacks etc. 🦋
We are short on storage. What has worked for my kids for years is hanging ALL shirts/ dresses. We have no dressers, only cube shelving w cubes for storing underwear/socks and pjs. Smaller kids can store shorts. My 16 yo has jeans stacked up on a shelf and my 12 yo uses a cube for her pants as well. I do not require them to fold. However, when i do a “mom” deep clean, i fold items in cubes. Perhaps these ideas can simplify things for you. ❤
