one of the best bands of the 80s. this a great great album - still got it on vinyl. good to see they are not completely forgotten. Steve Wynn - genius..
Me also. After this one I was lucky to get access on The Days o Wine & Roses with the additional highlight of an very decent cover design. Then after Karl Precoda's leaving I also bought their album Out of the Grey. The new guitarist was also more than o.k. But K. Precoda's leaving was a sad thing to me.Think We always want to rerecognize which once we loved. ...But I like Out of the Grey also very much. ( Also their joint project together with Green on Red is worth giving it a listen.)
Thank God for the Internet. I've been discovering all kinds of bands I would have LOVED to have known about back in the day, but because they didn't chart, or get played on the radio and TV all that much, or for whatever reason, I never heard of them. Bands like Hoodoo Gurus, The Adicts, and now...The Dream Syndicate!
Although I don't recall how I got turned onto this group, I first bought one of their albums in the mid Reagan years when I was living in Fort Collins.
This album is one of the pearls in my 80's record collection. Saw the Dream Syndicate live @ Markthalle in Hamburg/Germany on 9/26, 1984 and they were even better live in concert! Thanks for the upload!
To think this album was criticized vehemently upon its release and then people realized it was brilliant. It didn't need to be Days of Wine and Roses 2.
i must say I first heard this on Paste subscription and it sounded incredible! This sounds nothing like what I first heard. ( Maybe the great stereo I played it on?)
Does anyone have 'This is not the new Dream Syndicate album live? If so please put it on you tube! It was recorded by WXRT radio in Chicago and has what I consider the best live version of this song!
Had the LP once upon a time ago, but sold it in the recession. More importantly, I was at the show that was recorded - Chicago's Aragon Ballroom, July 6, 1984. The Dream Syndicate opened for R.E.M., and the very same night the Del Fuegos and The Replacements were playing Chicago's Cubby Bear club, across from Wrigley Field. My pal and I went to the REM/Dream Syndicate show, then hustled over to the club for the 2nd round. Pete Buck and Michael Stipe showed up at the club gig (of course everyone hoped Peter would play with the Mats on "I will Dare" off Let it Be, which didn't happen). I remember my friend and I chatting with Dream Syndicate's drummer on the merits of The Medicine Show vs. Days of Wine and Roses, and great atmosphere throughout the whole club. Cool night!
I got a page one story buried in my yard......... Wow,they just dont write them like they used to do,right? Can you picture this featuring Justin Timberlake? Ah...yeah...ah...right....

ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE...........GUITAR EMPHASIS....SICK ATMOSPHERE......ONE OF THE BEST TRACKS FROM THE 80'S!!!!!
sick is the word : - )
great album all songs are diamonds---rare diamonds!!
This was a turntable favorite at Wax Trax in Denver Colorado. Every time we played this album, someone would say "WHAT IS THAT? I WANT IT!!!!!!"
Although I don't recall how I got turned onto this group, I first bought one of their albums in the mid Reagan years when I was living in Fort Collins.
Saw them open for U2 at the Aragon Ballroom, 1984. Bought this album, loved them ever since.
Dream Syndicate were unique in blending "classic" rock with the new wave feel of the 80's
First album of theirs I ever heard, back in 1984. A masterpiece. Side 2 in particular still stuns me.
Hey Conductor !! Don't Stop Til You Hear That Gypsy Sound !! Great Track !

HamptonInjuryLawyer I found it! Well at least this song from it. It’s on you tube posted by Alva Tom, the thumbnail says Rock 101.
