Chips and rice are pretty common together in general in South America, it seems because Lomo saltado is another great dish that does that, and it's Peruvian.
In Brazil we have a dish called "Prato Feito", which is rice, bean stew, potato fries/chips, meat and a salad of lettuce and tomatoes. It is simple, cover all nutritional needs, have all the elements in a balanced meal, and it is very cheap. Yep, indeed rice and potatoes goes hand in hand in all South America.

Great video! It's the first time I watch a try video with food we usually eat in Brazil. Most of the videos shows meals we see once in a year. Congratulations guys!
The reason Carne de Panela may seem sort of Irish is because a lot of Irish people were indentured servants sent to work plantations and things in Brazil and the Bahama's. The Irish culture blended with other slaves and indigenous peoples cuisine to make unique variations.
Ahn? No, the reason is every country has the same idea of cooking meat with vegetables and sometimes some alcohol. E.g.: Ireland with the Beef Guinness Stew (meat, vegetables and Guinness beer) or France with Beef Bourguignon (meat, vegetables and red wine).
@@rofyle I've never seen Durian here, but we do have Jackfruit. It isn't smelly like Durian, but it looks very similar and it would be enough to trigger Justine's PTSD,
Durian is a product of Southeast Asia, in places like Thailand and Malaysia. I do think there was a farmer trying to introduce them in Central America, Costa Rica a while back but not sure how successful they were.

Rice, beans, some kind of meat (chicken, pork, beef) and french fries/cassava (and a simple tomato/lettuce salad, idk why it wasn't there) is what we call a prato feito (PF, could be translated as ready meals? The dishes they showed are just hearthy, simple, traditional food. You will see a variation of those 2nd and 3rd dishes on the table of a Brazilian house almost every single day of the week.

Thats a lot of home basic foods. Cassava is mainly for those who can't afford meats. Cassava flour is also a great substitute for wheat flour and cornmeal.......it makes great fried chips for dipping into bean dip, guac, or queso!!!!

@@1216jimmyz "And for Dermot, we're adding a heaping spoonful of peanut butter to the durian!"
With "haba neeeeeeeeeroooooooooooo" on top.
Great video! It's the first time I watch a try video with food we usually eat in Brazil. Most of the videos shows meals we see once in a year. Congratulations guys!
Thank you all for the review video of Brazilian food 👍🏻
I love it when they have food they find delicious.
The reason Carne de Panela may seem sort of Irish is because a lot of Irish people were indentured servants sent to work plantations and things in Brazil and the Bahama's. The Irish culture blended with other slaves and indigenous peoples cuisine to make unique variations.
😂😂 I feel so bad for irish people. They were oppressed so much in history but the american left considers them white supremacists. 😂😂
What? You tripping bro 😂
Ahn? No, the reason is every country has the same idea of cooking meat with vegetables and sometimes some alcohol.
E.g.: Ireland with the Beef Guinness Stew (meat, vegetables and Guinness beer) or France with Beef Bourguignon (meat, vegetables and red wine).
Sério? Não sabia disso 😂
Back to the library, friend.
You mixed your History books.
yep, brazilians rarely use tomato sauce in our kidney beans, we cook them on a pressure pan until soft, then season it with garlic, onion and bay leaf
I like watching all the different ways they use their utensils. They so rarely get to use them in Try shoots.
🇧🇷 Simplesmente Espetacular!! Sejam sempre bem vindos ao Brasil... Obrigado pelo carinho e respeito com o meu País.
I love seeing the Tryers pushed out of their comfort zones. Seeing the Tryers happy is nice. Seeing the occasional fit is nice too.
Looking a Justine’s surprised look, I’m suspecting Justine’s old dreaded nemesis “Durian” is amongst the Brazilian Fruit…
Pretty sure durian is Thai, not Brazilian.
And Brazil doesn’t have access to fruit grown from around the world like Americans do ehhh, or even the Irish…
@@rofyle I've never seen Durian here, but we do have Jackfruit. It isn't smelly like Durian, but it looks very similar and it would be enough to trigger Justine's PTSD,
Durian is a product of Southeast Asia, in places like Thailand and Malaysia. Perhaps the idea might have crossed her mind but no, it’s not a fruit you’d likely find in Brazil of most South American countries. I do think there was a farmer trying to introduce them in Central America, Costa Rica a while back but not sure how successful they were.
Rice and Beef aren’t indigenous to Brazil either…
Nice to see Justine again..... Happy friday!
Every now and then, it's good to give the Tryers full bellies and happy spirits.
"Our food is better than having wax ripped off your crotch!!!" Officially the slogan for the Try channel restaurant lol
I have to earn a living @lordquog!!!
Everything you ate looked so good. I haven't had dinner yet & now I'm craving Brazilian food. Loved the video. Big 👍
Great hearing Mega, for the first time. Going against you lol with the moss burger. Well done Mega. Great seeing Andy include again.
Thanks love burgers 🍔
Seán looking snazzy with his haircut from whenever this was filmed 😅
"Eatin' around the shrub" Darren, I see you. That was great.
I’ve realized I completely adore Laura’s Irish accent.
I adore Laura's everything!
I truly love this channel been watching for years
I lived in Ireland for 7 months, when I tried "Stew" I loved it, because it's exactly the same recipe as "Picadinho" from Brazil.
Rice, beans, some kind of meat (chicken, pork, beef) and french fries/cassava (and a simple tomato/lettuce salad, idk why it wasn't there) is what we call a prato feito (PF, could be translated as ready meals? Done dish?). You can find this basically anywhere, any bars and most restaurants and even like. Gas stations. It's the day-to-day food for most people here, very filling
Been watching the try channel for over a year. It just reinforces my belief that Irish women are some of the most beautiful ladies on the planet.
I agree totally. Watching their videos will drive you nuts then.
I see Justine thumbnail, I click.
Two videos in a row where the Tryers are having good food and a good time? This is awesome! I’m glad they enjoyed.
I did kinda expect that, when Laura said she didn’t like fish, y’all were going to cut to a fish dish and was surprised when you didn’t.
I love seeing laura and thomas together
Vocês tem que provar comidas maud típicas, tipo Farofa, Salpicão, Feijoada, Vinagrete etc.
Eles precisam de algumas caipirinhas beber neste canal. Desculpe, o meu português não é muito bom.
A lot of the dishes also come with shredded collard greens and orange slices, which add a bit of Cor and improve the dishes aesthetics.
From decrying the need to 'debase' themselves to "I haven't had this much fun since the alcohol shoot." I like it.
thats some authentic brazilian food! glad u guys loved it!!
Wow I do not believe I have seen many shoots where everyone has been so pleasantly surprised!
As a Brazilian, I feel glad you guys enjoyed. But please, have some farofa, coxinha, brigadeiro, Romeu e Julieta (White Minas cheese and guava sweet). Oh, paçoca too.
By God, they completely butchered our dishes. Just put 4 ingredients together and called it brazilian food. I'm pissed. I've never met anyone who ate just bare beans with fried bananas like that, with nothing to soak the juice in. That was just sad to watch...
Really love the positive sessions.
Hey guys I’m brazilian and I agree with Justine.. it’s missing some colors. We usually have those beans/sausage/meat dishes with a type of salada called “vinagrete”. Also orange juice or “guaraná” to drink. Now you’re good to go 🤌🏼😮💨
The trick for the fried cassava is to get the ones that aren't old, so it stays very, very soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside.
Everyone was having so much fun, that I didn't mind that much that this is the 50th video in a row (mild exaggeration) that Paddy has appeared in.
Hi Guys,
Amazing video. You need to make a Part 2 with:
- Guarana (Soda)
- Pao de queijo
- Coxinha
- Brigadeiro
- Feijoada
OMG at the end when they're saying it could use some beans or meat with the trifle.... Anyone else think of that friends episode where Monica makes the trifle and Joey loves it?!
Rachael's trifle haha! I could have sworn I saw a blooper where I think Ross spits it out onto the plate and Joey unknowingly eats it.
"Justine's right, rum would make that better, because even if it doesn't, you still have the rum." - probably Captain Jack Sparrow, maybe not.
Gotta tell them with those plates also come a salad plate with lettuces, tomatoes, onions maybe some ruculla or spanish.... dont forget the cashew juice or Maracujá(Passion Fruit) juice...
Laura is such a doll. She would be such a fun and pleasant dinner companion.
No lies detected!
We Brazilians are very loving people, and I believe that is directly expressed in the way we cook our food.
And cassava flour (Farofa or Farinha) it´s mandatory for almost of the Brazilian plates! try to search for Barreado where´s cassava flour it´s the ingredient that bond the food
Deveriam ter experimentado o toucinho com virado de feijão. Este é muito bom!👍🏻
I enjoyed this however I am slightly suspect of all the glowing reviews. Props on all the descriptive language, adds to the experience. And hey, at least the food was not spicy. Have a great weekend!!😙
The dishes they showed are just hearthy, simple, traditional food. You will see a variation of those 2nd and 3rd dishes on the table of a Brazilian house almost every single day of the week.
First time I see REAL BRAZILIAN DISHES in a foreign video, except for the last one (the dessert), because I think it's REGIONAL! Awesome ❤
I miss Justine and Dermot together in these shoots 😢
Cassava is also used to make a biodegradable cat litter, amazing odor control.
I am brazilian and have some things to say;
1st dish: we don't eat just beans and cassava, they are usually together with rice and a meat on the side.
2nd dish: basically everiday lunch for a lot of people.
3th dish: same as the previous one.
4th dish: delicious cake, students usually sell those at colege to make extra money, and yes, it's a single serving.
Thats a lot of home basic foods. Cassava is mainly for those who can't afford meats.
Cassava flour is also a great substitute for wheat flour and cornmeal.......it makes great fried chips for dipping into bean dip, guac, or queso!!!!
Justins truthful comical jokes shes funny.
Dhora, eu assistindo aqui enquanto janto exatamente o prato feito ali. Aproveitando que vocês experimentaram nossa comida pra dizer que acho o canal de vocês um barato! Já acompanho a um ano! Continuem com o baita trabalho!
Nice, I'm watching here while I dine exactly one of the food. Since you guys tried our food, let me take a moment to comment that I think your channel is really cool! I've been following for a year! Keep up the great work!
Google totally ruined your comment via translation, your actual translation makes sense as I doubt you'd call them cheap as a compliment
1:15 Cassava\Yuca had to be peeled and boiled before being eaten to remove the cyanide properties of the root.... If cassava is being shredded or ground up, the liquid has to be pressed out before being used.
Just found this channel and im obsessed. Have yall tried Peruvian food?
