  • The plan from the first video of 2023 was to make more videos in 2023, to get better with the new gear and making videos overall, film more people and interview more people. I think I definitely accomplished that this year. I started off putting out one video every couple of weeks which for me was more than 2022 but then we got busy with work which slowed things down. Just with so much going on I wasn’t really always in the mood to make videos as well. Unless they were gonna be better than the last one. As we went along I learned a heap more about the gear I have and settings and stuff. Still made a-lot of mistakes this year. I manage to muck something up every time I shoot something and I think thats comes down to trying to do too much all by myself. I tend to do better results just doing one thing well rather than 10 things at a time. But that's just what it is. You still learn more the more mistakes you make. So is what it is live and learn. Then, as for shooting with more people we did that too. Got a few of the guys involved and then just grabbed anyone I could for anything I could. It definitely helps the videos having more people involved.
The end of the year I even got to go to Canada and America and tried to get as much footage to make a video with which was a highlight if the year. Following that I haven’t posted or made anything really for UA-cam, couple of video's here and there but I have been working on a couple if videos behind the scenes. One was a video for CWR for the delivery of their 2 Cat 834k 60tn chip dozers for Oji Tokoroa which I have just finished up and sent for review which is 15 min long. And the other is a documentary style video of the response to cyclone gabriel windblow in lake taupo forest by NZFM. Which is a hour long video that I have also just sent for review. This has been quite a huge project that took a lot of interviews( about 10 or 11 people) from contractors, NZFM managers, Forest trustees and truck drivers. That video I actually pitched to nzfm to try to remember what went on there. Here, we all as loggers in this area hear stories of cyclone bola but we can never see what happened, theres no photos or video from the forestry back then. So hopefully when its out people can look back on it for years.
I found that a really cool project to work on.
So for next year who knows what will happen, what videos I will make. I have a few ideas, I would like to make more interesting stuff like that going forward. Maybe post up even just some working footage. Just plain working machines once in a while so people can just see something work.
I always say I just wanna make video and I enjoy making videos but as each year goes by I find I wanna make better videos and I think thats happening. Each mistake I learn. So thanks for watching its been an up and down year but on to the next one.
Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this year in any way.
    Ready for 2024
