fun facts: - the song you use for your opening that you were talking about "I don't want to set the world on fire", was the theme for the 3rd game, however the game creators originally wanted it to be the theme for the 1st game but just couldn't get the rights for it. it's always sort of been considered the unofficial theme for the whole series. - almost everything in the first episode and this one is original, but heavily draws from existing lore in the games. for example, the vault lucy is from and the attack on it is reminiscent of 2 vaults from the games, one opened early and tried to trade with the surface before being raided and wiped out, one was divided into 2 political factions and basically killed eachother in a civil war. in fact her whole motivation to find her dad is very similar to the main plot of the 3rd game(your father leaves the vault for mysterious reasons, and you leave to go find him). another example is the town of Filly, which is original, but the design is very similar to a city in the 3rd game in washington DC, called "Megaton", constructed out of salvaged airplane parts and other scrap metal, itself vaguely reminiscent of Mad Max 3's "Bartertown". As someone who's a huge fan of the games and knows the lore like the back of my hand, and as someone who usually hates game to film/tv adaptations, so far, this series is NAILING IT. if you like what you see in the show so far, you should definitely play Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, you'll have a *blast,* pun absolutely intended.
The Ghoul healing CX404 was to track the scientist, but if you watch his hands, he is stroking the dog's neck gently before administering the Stim pack.
I was raised by my grandfather and grandmother, so the music that Fallout has used has always been so dear to me. The music is so iconic, and they use a lot of the songs they used in the games, probably because J. Nolan gets the same feels as every other Fallout player.
One thing about Fallout and a thing that makes it great to adapt to a TV show is that every one of the games has been set in a new location with new characters in a new time period. Sometimes side characters returning from previous games but for the most part it’s all new cast every time. So people who have played the games have more info on the factions and world, but don’t know any more about where the story is going than anyone else.
whilst this is mostly true should be noted some specific locations are revisited in later games. For example Vault 13 and Shady Sands from fallout 1 are revisited in Fallout 2. Fallout 4 has a Bethesda made creation club quest has yo revisit the Galaxy News Radio building from Fallout 3. And finally Fallout 76 has you revisit the Pitt from fallout 3's DLC. (or pre-visit technically since 76 takes place before 3). Likewise the Show takes place in the area surrounding Pre war Los Angeles which is the setting for Fallout 1.
Bottle caps are currency in this world. Crazy thing, someone sent a boxfull of bottle caps to Bethesda when Fallout 4 came out, and Betheada sent the fan a copy of the game.
Oddly enough, I had a weird quirk where I liked to collect bottlecaps, even before I heard of Fallout as a franchise. I collected to many, I had to store them in ziplock bags. My mother thought I was nuts, but if I lived in the Fallout Universe, I'd probably be rich.
@@johnnybravo2873 The ones you build at your settlements have terrible aim. They make up for it by being relatively cheap to make, but the Enclave was only using one.
just FYI all these characters are original! the games are very loosely connected by vault-tech, sometimes factions and maybe time periods but locations, characters, protagonists and the like are all different game to game!
Gotta comment about the dog everywhere because my golly my heart dropped when she got stabbed. It’s real funny because she popped up just like the dogs tend to in the game when injected. Just looks more comical in a show setting xD
In the games, your companion like your dog can take a grenade explosion to the head, then a stimpack will bring them right back like nothing happened. I love how they're not disguising the impracticality behind game mechanics.
Yes, the characters in this story are all original. There are references to past events and places but, for the most part, everything here is new. This show also takes place after all of the games so far
Was excited to find someone else to watch react to the show. Not so sure anymore. It's just not necessary to comment on every single line of dialogue, shot, and action. Just watch and naturally react. Holy moly.
Most fans of the games aren't going to know what happens with these characters either. It's an original story set within the universe. So it's just as much of a surprise for us. And it makes sense that it would have a wild west feel to it. There's a lot of that in the Fallout games. Especially New Vegas but even 3 and 4 a little bit.
Love the reactions, guys! Here's some little tidbits that can help you as you watch, because some things don't get much explanation: "Rads" = radiation. Though the giant cockroaches ARE called "radroaches" by wasteland denizens, they never call them rads for short. Rads is always radiation. The mutated bear is called a "yao guai" (pronounced "yow g'why"). The dog, CX404, is a female I'm pretty sure.
I mean, if you attempted to play the games before, and they didn't grab your attention, then I highly doubt they will now after watching the TV show. The games are awesome, but clearly aren't for everyone.
"You guys trade bottlecaps?" Yeah in the Fallout universe bottlecaps are used instead of money since money has no value, originally it was bottles of water but that was too heavy as I recall and bottlecaps were substituted as the value of the water bottles so you wouldn't have to lug around thousands of pounds of water.
@@jeremycovelli It's a mix of both, originally in lore they traded water bottles, but too heavy for caravans, the bottlecaps from nuka cola basically represent the value of water in the wasteland and that's how they get their currency value to work.
@@jeremycovelli its any bottlecaps. In New Vegas when you drink sunset Sarsaparilla you get a bottle cap added to your inventory meaning those count too.
should be noted that Bottlecaps is just the most common currency but there are others. In fallout 2 bottlecaps are not used at all, instead being replaced with by NCR dollar.
The story of the characters in the tv show have nothing to do with the stories in the game, what i mean is that each game has it's own story and each character (yourself) follow the path of the player, you can choose what path to go, there's no straight or linear path of lore for the characters. Unlike The Last Of Us which is linear and they force you the main quest only, the fallout games is not linear, you do side quests and main story that is not linear. So this is why these characters in the tv show don't exist in the games but could exist if you make it that way though playing. So we as fallout fans (gamers) we don't know how this story will go, is impossible to spoil fallout games through the tv show because there's a LOT of paths to follow. The only things the tv show keep the same as the games are the locations, the war (nuclear bombs), the aesthetic / concepts, and the vaults, and some easter eggs of the games with the guns and some phrases. That's it. The rest is original from the tv show (the characters, the main story, etc)
You can tell who’s going to do a shitty job editing, by how short their video is and these two are famous for the shortest reactions, which means bad editing. Great job!!!!!😮
Show went too far with that first shit... it's not even quick. Disgusting. Why the hell would the knight say that shit when he needs help? That makes no sense, was he just that stupid? Get healed first. But it was messed up to just watch him get attacked.
