Lindisfarne is actually the name of the island on which the castle/abbey was built. The island is also known as Holy Island, with a history of monastic settlement going back to the 7th Century.

Glad you both enjoyed it. They're definitely a band worthy of another look. Run for home, Meet me on the corner & Lady Eleanor were a staple on most pub jukeboxes in the day. Another favourite of mine is Clear White Light.

I recently watched a documentary about the bands lead singer, Alan Hull. Meet Me On The Corner, Run For Home and Fog On The Tyne are other great songs by the band that are worth a listen to.

love this band and this song - so many of their songs are worth a listen - together forever, meet me on the corner, lady eleanor, run for home and even later stuff - can't do right for doing wrong. Nice to see a reaction for such an innovative band

First time hearing this song although familiar with much of Lindisfarne. Good song, thoughtful and interesting use of the instrumentation.

I love this. I also love Lady Eleanor by Lindisfarne (remastered), among many others. And, listening to Lady Eleanor, I noticed that another of my favourite bands, Rootjoose, had similar harmonies to Lindisfarne in at lease two of their songs, Place So Near, and Never Knew You.

Beautiful piece of music, beautiful vocal. I love the chord changes, the chopping guitar, as you state going against the grain but works well..great social commentary .

I've sung "Comes Howling In" back at Alan Hull and Lindisfarne in Newcastle City Hall at several years of their Christmas concerts. It was usually acoustic guitar, mandolin, and electric bass; no harp. I think, maybe, the percussive acoustic guitar is an experienced folk musician's tactic to punctuate and drive songs, and help an audience 'nod along', when there are no drums. Neil Young did it too.
    Best Wishes. ☮
Lindisfarne's "Lady Eleanor" is Halloween-spooky folk rock, and "Fog on the Tyne" a folk rock party sing-along; with a hooky chorus.

I'm an ET and wish you would do -- Tam Lin by Steeleye Span. It is an epic song.
