The getaway island for Pireotes and Athenians on weekends. Luckily there hasn't been a bridge built. The island despite its proximity to Megara and Perama has kept its character as a quiet destination point for natives from the mainland via rapid ferry service. The location of Salamina is a mixed blessing.. from one point of you, the location is very positive because is it very close to Athens.. on the negative side, it suffers from pollution, it can be crowded and the architecture of its buildings is.. well... not very attractive... it does, however, have a few scenic sites as you saw here...
