    SO I'm a Canuck listening to an Englishman and an Aussie talk their blue humour, and I understood every word and meaning, like, "...you know you want to." I also think you guys passed on your knowledge quite nicely. Thanks!

      @@SVImpavidus - it looked like this was installed with just a pressure fit, while I have seen other cutlass bearings installed with epoxy. How does this cutlass bearing stay in place?

    • @SVImpavidus
      @SVImpavidus  8 місяців тому

      Usually its a press fit with grub screws in through the outer casing.

    The beginning is hilarious with Ryan calling!!!! If there is something that I find amazing, is the knowledge to FIX just about ANYTHING!!!...specially such highly difficult things like engine or electricity...very impressive indeed...Ryan is right, be best friends with an engineer is the ideal 😁😁😁...Ryan though seems like a fast apprentice 😎...and it makes total cense "learn how it works". Thanks for the video!!

      Thanks for your kind words. It makes a difference when folks take the time to comment. It is appreciated. Ryan learns so quick! its great to be helping out. Sail Safe mate. Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.

      Hi Brian! Welcome aboard. We have this pay it forward philosophy. We try to help folk whenever we can, a lot of our videos are about teaching stuff to help folks out. Check out the video we did with Sunday called "Mission Impossible" back in licata. Ryan and Steve got so much out of just a helping hand with the water pump. Now they know how to do it and can pass the knowledge forward. Sail Safe mate. Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.

    In the USA, if we have a bolt or nut giving us a hard time. We get out the BFBB. Also known as a Big F**king Breaker Bar. I have on that is 24 inches (609.6mm) long. I haven't found a nut or bolt that I couldn't get out. Good luck with your boat project.

    I fitted my Volvo 'non-drip' shaft seal in yr 2000. And the same seal is still there. The trick is high grade prop shaft, perfect allignement and never run dry.

      @@SVImpavidus What's even just as impressive is our cutless bearing fitted at the same time is still without any slack. Fixed 3 blade prop. that is turning when we are sailing. We are not liveaboards, but still. More than 20 years under water and spinning for thousands of hours.

    Is that a ZF gearbox I see? I spent $1500 on parts and labor trying to rebuild my Hurth HBW-250 (ZF-25) only for it to be a failure and have to shell out another $3250 for a brand new ZF

    • @SVImpavidus
      @SVImpavidus  3 роки тому

      Glad you liked it. There is room to put the old one on the same shaft behind it. Then if it fails you cut it off and slide the spare straight on. How about that for a top tip? Seeing Ryan later we will say hi. Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.

    Thats quite the unusual flange setup for a sailboat! Normally those tapered flange arrangements are seen on powerboats not sailboats!

      Most of the Beneteau shafts are key and taper its better than just key and shaft. Sail Safe mate. Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
