Strength In Numbers... absolute knockout single album supergroup put together by Bush, Douglas, O'Connor, Bela, and Edger Meyer. Live performance of the album available on UA-cam. The range of music styles/genres in this performance is amazing.
I never listened to bluegrass before I started watching your Woodshed series last year. I used to think "bad guitar players who can only work in open position" and dismissed it without ever knowing or listening. Anyway, you've helped open up a whole new area of guitar playing for me. And having played for over 50 years now, I just don't experience that "new area" feeling very much. So, thanks!
Im right there with you brother. Picked up a guitar around '74 and learned enough to pay the rent wit it by 86. But stopped getting better. About a year ago i decided to learn more and get serious. Though i watch other channels this one pushes me the most.
After years of strumming and and some lead playing this is the most complicated for me. This kind of teacher makes it easier though. Thanks Andy Wood for what you do?
This was amazing. Andy - you mentioned Dixie Dregs - are you able to make a video on at least the interesting parts of The Bash? I haven't seen a good one anywhere on youtube on this.
Just discovered your lessons - big fan! One complaint from a guitar player who is trying to learn this stuff but moves a little slow, when you do these lessons please use guitars with more than 2 fret markers (though its better than none I guess- I see that all the time on other channels) - thanks for the lesson?!
Absolutely incredible. Is there anything you can't do Andy? Now you have me wanting to go out buy a Martin and learn some of these finger licking good bluegrass licks. Your playing is really inspiring. You are now in my top five favorite guitarists to listen to, along with Morse and Johnson. You are an incredible player. I love these videos. Do you do Skype lessons?
@@andywoodmusic Thanks bro. I will probably be setting up a Skype lesson with you in the next week or two, when I have the time. I think I would be able to learn a lot from you. You are truly an incredible player.
I've followed Billy strings for a long time he is one of the best if not the best love his music different from the original bluegrass but man this guy can flat lay out flat top picking....
Is the underside of your thumb in your picking hand brushing the strings or not? I can't really tell. If so, do you use it as reference to position your hand?
Hate to ask for free advice lol but my pick has a tendency to roll around in my hand. When I start playing a song the next thing I know the point of the pick is facing the nut and keys. Any advice on this thanks
Love this, hope to see more bluegrass flatpicking lessons like this

Another great one Andy! Love a guy who can go from bluegrass to Ed.

Check out the Ken Burns movie about Country. Unreal players.

You thought what???

Your explanation lines up with my thought process. Theory an terminology cause me to focus on the wrong part of the picture. Much appreciated sir!
Beautiful ! You are teaching this old dog new tricks !
Awesome playing like always Andy
G, the most country or bluegrass of all keys. Steve Morse is also great at this. Love this style of playing.
That's some fine picking.
Awesome playing - you are so superior❤️ Best regards from Denmark
Love how you snuck in the EJ descending fives pentatonic. Such an incredible talent.
Andy Wood . I live in Corryton , tn . area.

Dropped my acoustic off with my tech today to lower the saddle height so I can begin to start playing this stuff without atrocious string height.
Heard that!! My action isn’t “low” by any means

Hey Andy cool lesson. Whats the difference with alternate picking and cross picking? and great advice on the picking strokes .
It’s alt picking on a 3 string set, crossing back over. I’ve got a video lesson on my channel! Check the Bela Fleck episode
@@andywoodmusic Thanks Andy ..ur the best!
@@satchrules101 cheers dude!! 🍻
How important is it to worry about air picking during hammer-ons?

What picks/gauge you using? Use the same on electric as well? Thx!
I desperately wanted to lick this video but I have no desire to change that "420 likes" that's MINT Bois

No it doesn’t. I use the bone of my wrist/hand joint on the bridge
