Glorious!! I can almost imagine Heaven's courts, one day, ringing to the sound of multitudes singing praises to the Prince of Glory who died and is alive forever more! Love so amazing, so Divine...

Sang this a few years ago in a massed choir. Just at the build up to the final verse, all the lights went out. All we could just make out was the conductors white tuxedo arms. The sound and effect still sends shivers down my spine.

Wonderful evening with my fellow country men ! This lovely arrangement spoilt by the band on the last verse.

I fully agree - the "oompah-" style fanfare does the music a grave disservice!

Some weeks ago, I wrote saying that there was a beautiful tune, usually sung by male voice choirs, but that I did not know the name, well this is it. Morte Christe, Some one kindly wrote and suggested O Waly Waly, but I have a CD of that played by a Salvation Army Band and was familiar with it anyway. On this present performance I am not too happy with the final verse, being a triumphal ending it would have been great to hear that mighty organ “ blast” it out.

Have just said the same on another comment Warren, as I too had the privilege. We are the ladies choir in turquoise and black, just next to the band. What a night eh? One we will never forget ❤

I like the pompous start up of the band before the last verse because the occasion in the narrative deserves it.

A grand Victorian sound, in the ultimate Victorian venue - superb.
The conductor forgets to indicate to the women to rise in good time so they begin to do it themselves at 3:01, before the camera cuts away to a shot of the organ pipes!

Only found this today and I must say that the final verse , played by the orchestra was absolutely amazing. The way the hymn is supposed to be sung. Ardderchog ! :)

This might be a big ask, but does anybody have a video of the Llanelli Cor Meibion with Gwyn Davies singing please? I'm sure he was one of the founding members of the choir... Many thanks.

I was loving this till the band started up for the last verse. I have nothing against bands but it was so out of place, the organ, especially the RAH organ is more than capable of accompanying the choir, the band made me shudder in completely the wrong way!

My only disappointment is that as usual there is a verse missing. removed by the squeamish Victorians. Should be 5 verses.

Arthur J Dale ,the band is good. Perhaps those who criticise the band are those who weren’t quite good enough to get a place in the band.

@@Randolph1233 The band might be good, but completely out of place in this performance. I speak as one who has no discernible musical talent and therefore have no interest in securing a place in the band.

Tin pot?? Two bands performed that night, The Grimethorpe Colliery Band and the Cory Band, arguably two of the finest in the world and it was the most incredible experience ❤
