When this movie came out in 2000 I was stationed in Germany with the Army...when it was played at the post theater I went to see it and over two hours later I left the theater a changed man...this movie was a great experience and the soundtrack the most beautiful and moving I ever heard...later on when the soundtrack was released I got it and then spent a few weekends touring around the Roman ruins sites in Germany...I would wear my headphones and listen to this music while walking around the ruins...it was such a great way to transport yourself to another time for a while....20+ years later and this is STILL my favorite movie and soundtrack.

Gladiator was my father's favorite movie, he died when I was 12, and now I'm 24 and every time I listen this soundtrack, it makes me remember him, now gladiator is one of my favorite movies too, such masterpiece!

Maximus achieves true virtue while Commodus achieves his own destruction. One understood power and one craved it. “What we do in life echoes in eternity”. This is an education on how to be a man.

Lisa Gerrard is incredible. She literally "created" a language for this soundtrack and then sang it.
Worthy of an Oscar,how did it not get one.the most soul inspiring music I have ever heard,it is a comfort to the grieving of lost loved ones.
I think of my dearest mother every day with this playing and I know she is walking in Elysian Fields,we will meet again but not yet.❤

The first 20 seconds gave me chills...one of the best cinematic masterpieces in history with one of the greatest soundtracks
Films and their soundtracks have come & gone over the past 22 years since Gladiator and no film soundtrack has moved me as this. It has played a small but integral part in my life..often giving me a lift when things seemed tough.. a masterpiece..simply an ageless piece of music..
This and Lord of the Rings were last of the blockbusters with substance and epic film scores. Cinema is DEAD.
Steven, I at 86 still marvel at the power of music to elevate and deepen that experience of a moving story, or some scenery, a vacation, even tine just with oneself. And I loved how you used the movie experience by going to the Roman ruins. I'm sure as a military man you couldn't help but connect with men of "another time" who were in the Roman military, men who once lived there, who may have fought or died there so many yrs ago. I appreciate your sensitivity and wish you in your coming years a wholesome and loving life. Thank you.

Absolutely love this movie, music, Russell Crowe and it's meaning. Can not help getting so emotional and eyes watering up no matter how many times I hear this music or see the movie.. This is the way we should live now. Strength and Honor he was a Soldier of Rome. These are the truths that eco in history and gave birth to sayings such as "Give me Liberty or Death. Nothing has changed for me except the countries history repeats itself in.
That was the Year for 'The Gladiator' they should have swept the Oscars that year. Especially 'Russell Crowe' for that Epic performance. It had all the Elements that an Epic film would have.

Heard an interview several years ago where Hans Zimmer talked about the process for making this score, and how small of an idea we have of what Roman music might have sounded like. Damn he nailed it though.

I appreciated the scenes between Commodus and Lucilla. There was so much going on, and the actors really painted a picture of what their relationship would have looked like when they were younger...up to what it looks like in their late 20s. And how it devolved for both of them...

A breezy, overcast Sunday with bella curled up on my lap and the soothing sounds of this soundscape from from "Gladiator" ... not total bliss, but approaching it ...
as a kid, I adamantly believed that the good guys will always win and live till the end and have a happy ending (probably the Disney effect)...this movie shattered that belief and I was so confused and heartbroken as this was the first 'adult' movie I was allowed to watch...watching this movie as an adult hit differently, although Maximus was defeated and died, it didn't feel that way...I felt like he has won, lived on and got the happy ending he deserved...
also, I'm glad that they didn't continue on with the movie sequel because it would've ruined this whole movie for me...the proposed plotlines were just so ridiculous IMO....

As a former Army soldier/ sargeant / we had to convince our men to stick together no matter what- my favorite line was if you find your self alone and on your back remember you are already dead . Sounds morbid but when you lead rangers you have to be that way . Love this movie

Just goes to show that this (In my experienced opinion:) IS HAN ZIMMER'S GREATEST WORK OF ART.
