This is amazing stuff! I don’t even know if this is something I’ll use but the way you described and integrated so many different concepts demanded my full attention!
Hey dude, don’t be so entitled. This required a lot of different concepts that may be difficult to new excel users and he described each excellently. Also you learned a new skill for free that you didn’t want to figure out by yourself. Speed up the playback speed next time.
I think you are amazing Louis. Have subscribed and will be sharing your channel with others as well. I haven't yet tried this function yet on my mac. I use office 365 on my mac. Will be trying this out today. But, thanks for sharing such a great video. Will be watching for more. i always wondered why microsoft hasn't added this to excel as a default function.
Hi, followed your tutorial today and found it very easy to follow, this will be very useful. However, I noticed that I'm unable to paste after setting up a spreadsheet to highlight the row, is there a reason for this and a way around it ?
How do you do this so that the rule sticks in a pivot table? I've applied this and it works but every time the pivot table opens up or refreshes the rule "applies to" gets changed or won't stick.
When I select Visual Basic and the proceed to select worksheet from General/worksheet. I get a notification "Variable uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic" So I cannot proceed further. please help.
Have you written something in the VBA box? It is important that you start the VBA code with Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
@@LouisDeconinck I have tried this in parallels which is a software which allows windows to be used in a Mac. I used excel in the windows OS and then then the Via works, But the cells light up with a lag, and this is also true with other windows users. The cells highlighting is there but there is a lag time in lighting up.
I tried to follow this, but the VB doesn't work on a Mac, it seems. I tried a workaround, but the selection highlight doesn't change with the cell change by clicking on it. The VB also won't let me select Workbook. It only lets me stay on General. Private Sub Workbook_SheetSelectionChange(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range) Application.Calculate End Sub
@@LouisDeconinck I wanted somethings that would highlight vertically, horizontally, anti diagonally and diagonally from active cell. Enough to fill 50 cells either way

I don't use a mouse. I use that

I can't get the Developer Tab to appear.

Louis, thank you for the full treatment of the functions used. I find this helpful.
Thank you, I always try to be as complete as possible in my explanations.
This was top notch as I have data with multiple columns and lines, so now I am able to confirm the line location with the highlight
That's a very good use case for this functionality indeed!
Without your help, I would never have been able to do it, TY so much, you got a new subscriber😉
Glad I could help!
Fantastic. I was looking for this feature for a long time!

Thank you very much! I have not much experience with Office for Mac, so hopefully it'll work as well.
Excellent! Helps when entering or looking at data. Thanks much!
Yes, that's actually a great use case!

That's indeed possible when using VBA, I think undo might also be impacted. I don't really know a way around this unfortunately.
Thank you. Excellent explanation! Easy and concise.
Glad it was helpful!
I have subscribed too, great videos louis, I will look forward to more. 👏
Thanks for the sub!
Very helpful video, Louis! Would you share what software you use to record and edit your videos too?
I use Camtasia, it's very user-friendly.
Excel Magic! Nicely done. Many thanks. Subscribed and liked.
Thanks for the sub!
Great tip and excellent presentation
Glad it was helpful!
Very useful! Thanks Louis!
My pleasure!
Is it possible to put the macro and custom formatting in a personal macro workbook? So it would be available all of the time
That would be very cool indeed, unfortunately I'm not aware of a method that would allow for that.
Thanks for the tip !
My pleasure 😁
How do you do this so that the rule sticks in a pivot table? I've applied this and it works but every time the pivot table opens up or refreshes the rule "applies to" gets changed or won't stick.
Should we save this workbook with macro enabled or saving withot macro will it still work when we open it?
You'll have the save with macro's enabled unfortunately.
Fantastic, thank you

Private Sub Workbook_SheetSelectionChange(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range)
Application.Calculate
End Sub
Unfortunately I don't have a Mac to try and make it work. I would think ChatGPT might be able to help out?
I’m unable to run the VBA in my workbook that is all Tables? Do you have any suggestions?
I would need some more info. This approach only works with VBA. You could try to change the file extension to .xlsm
Brilliant. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
when you click single time the row number and column number change --mine change when double clicked ?? how to solve that
This is amazing
Thanks!
Awesome
Would know how to highlight cells diagonally and anti diagonally
Interesting question, I'll have to think about that one, I'm not sure.
