I kept saying turn turn turn....he could have climbed out in a few spots...decent lift he kept flying through....15 years since I last flew a hang glider, but it still gets me going just watching a video - Cheers
Well I fly bed sheets of mountains, and hook into thermals and climb thousands of feet above the mountains. I think it’s kinda funny that this “air mattress” technology never really took off (no pun intended) even though the performance of this particular one looks about equal to a modern beginner level paraglider, I’m sure that this technology could be perfected into something really cool, but we will probably never know.
For the price it cost for one of these you can buy buy a good short pack hang glider, all the gear you need, your liecense and a 2nd hand van and insurance instead
Don’t have a clue why it seems so stable. No dihedral. No obvious washout in the wing tips. No obvious reflex in the trailing edge. What happens in a steep 360 deg turn?
plzzzzz were can i buy this and how many cost it, can you give me a link? it is soooooo great :) i will also woopy jump. do you need a lizens for this?
Safer? That depends on how stupid someone is with it. I choose the conditions I fly in. I pack a spare parachute for emergencies over 100ft altitude. Under that altitude, everyone suffers no matter what you fly. Reaction time is everything. I do not fly a parachute, but I do fly a paraglider with a motor unit on my back. So it is very stable, even under windy conditions. This thing in the video is limited to many things. It has no motor. It can't do anything but a glide down a hill. It does not climb. So, essentially, it is a downhill run, every time. With a paraglider, I have a 3 hour flight with gas. Without it, a cross country flight can last most the day but without a motor, it becomes less stable. So, you tell me, is it safer? I bet it is.
Not actually a dumb question---With inflatable wings, as the altitude increases, the wing expands which could lead to actual bursting of the envelope. (skin)?
@@jackfrost2146 no, the Woopy is not a sealed wing. It uses small fans to keep it semi-rigid. The same principle as taking a garbage bag and filling it with air and putting a rubber band very loosely around the opening. If you jump on it, you will bounce off, but if you lay on it, it will go flat. The Woopy only partially 'pressurizes' so it only takes a bit of umph from the fans to keep it rigid. Looks like fun and appears only a bit more efficient than a standard; I totally would fly it.
Actually--Yes. In the 60's, the U.S. army experimented with an inflatable plane, designed to be dropped to stranded pilots who had bailed out. When it climbed to a decent altitude the wing would be dangerously over-inflated, needing to let out some air. There was an on board pump used to re-pressurise as altitude decreased so as to keep the wing rigid. This was the main reason that the idea was rejected. Look up Goodyear Inflatoplane Images.
@@BrilliantDesignOnline I like the fact that can be put in a trunk of a car. Most hangliders are very long and heavy. They have to go on a roof of a car and takes around 15min to assemble and 15 min for disassembly. I am sure that both have their pros and cons.

Totally possible. Hang gliders have been attacked on more than one occasion. Usually just a few scratches, but they don't rely in inflation. Looks like fun but I would stick to bunny hills with it. For more altitude a modern hang glider would be safer in my opinion.

I have done some pretty crazy things in my time but flying an air mattress off the side of a mountain isn't one of them!

Equipment: chicken suit, mountain, wind, big balls.
Ideal for anyone not wanting to die old

Hi. Hope you get this message. How can I get one of those to try?
what happens when teh batteries runs out ?
For the price it cost for one of these you can buy buy a good short pack hang glider, all the gear you need, your liecense and a 2nd hand van and insurance instead
....but these Wroopy Cushions seem to fry a rot srower, which appeals to me.
I don’t understand how the thing stays airborne: the weight of the balls of the Guy flying this thing should pull it straight to the ground....
Thermals off the hills.

The first glider whats the name of this? Woopy? Thanks a lot
I want to get one of these blow up gliders. That looks fun!

were can i get one of these i live in Europe
that's it I'm getting one
Paragliders are packable into a compact car and backpackable and are proven!
A better choice in my mind. No rigid frame.
You honestly think a parachute is safer then that thing?

Where is this location?
I wonder at what speed the wing begins to fold ?
they have an aluminum spar, from wingtip to wingtip
god damn i knew it isn't cheap. 15000 USD!
何処に下りたのか見たかった
Woopyyyyyyy
Fill it with helium!! See how slow it flys then!
That's what I was thinking. I wonder if they have tried...
멋있어요!!!
Nice! What happen if you have a flat?
Then you would be flat too.

It would symbolize our victory at Midway.

Attach permanent a small electric air pump and problem solved.
