Maybe to humanize her a little and make them look like friends during the trip. With outfits like that it’s hard to look at her like a villain. IDK that’s my interpretation of why they chose those outfits for her.

I’m pretty sure the doctor knew that Lizzie was faking it. He seemed like he was making it up as he went. Also, I don’t know about anyone else, but I didn’t think Lizzie and Paolo’s relationship was cute because I was on the Lizzie and Gordo train and wanted Paolo to go away.

Cutting it closer to the movie, making Lizzie 13/14 to Paolo's reported 17, it's...... _iffy_ , but generally barely acceptable (a 12 grader dating a 9th grader, say)
What I was surprised about is that Lizzie’s entire family could just drop everything and spend hundreds of dollars on plane tickets to Italy. It had to be expensive since they are on a plane by the next day.
Or the fact that a graduating MIDDLE school class went to Italy? I could see maybe a high school graduating class but middle school? Most of the class we saw looked more like high schoolers than middle schoolers.
And that they had a passport for their 10(?) year old. I got the feeling that this was Lizzie's first international trip and that the family weren't globetrotters.
I took a trip to Italy in middle School. It wasn't school sponsored. Basically our Spanish teacher convinced some of us to go on the trip. Just a handful of kids in my grade went, most of us had at least 1 parent come with us, with maybe 3 kids having gone without a parent. We later found out that my Spanish teacher got enough people to go on the trip for herself and her family to go for free. We had a good time, but still. Our teacher wasn't much of a chaperone and barely dealt with us. Another teacher was a slightly better chaperone (who didn't get a free trip), but she was pretty immature. She got drunk somewhere and started acting crazy on the train once. My parents kind of took over as stand in chaperones, other parents did the same. So that is how a real middle School trip overseas goes! Lol!
My cousin went to Ireland in 7th grade and Italy in 8th grade (or Ireland in 8th grade and Italy in 9th grade, I don’t remember), but the trip wasn’t through our school, it was one of those programs like EF Ultimate Breaks or something
The only trips I took in middle school were choir related and never out of the country. We did visit a few cool places in the US though! We went to Boston and New York a few times. This continued in high school. Although in 7th grade, we did go to DC, Philadelphia, and Colonial Williamsburg for a week. Really enjoyed that trip!
I thought Paulo romancing lizzy being creepy was the whole point. A lot of naive girls are easily taken in by a suave handsome older stranger. They think it's a whirlwind romance but it's really a guy who is just taking advantage of the situation and is going to end up hurting them. I think it's actually a good teaching moment .

I mean in the Lizzie McGuire universe/timeline, Lizzie is 14 years old in the start of the second season of tv series (when she enters 8th grade) so by the time of her graduation trip she would be 15 or close to 15. I definitely get Paola being 17 would be creepy but Lizzie was definitely not 13 at the time of the her middle school grad trip. She’s 13 in season 1 (7th grade) and 14 in season 2 (8th grade).

They did at least provide an explanation for that in the movie by Paulo telling everyone that Isabella wanted to practice her English and so "No Italian."
I can believe that people couldn't tell Lizzy looked like Isabella. Sometimes the smallest change can confused the mind and make it seem like it's someone else.
They could have foreshadowed the reveal that Lizzy looked like Isabella by showing snippets of people looking at Lizzy and Lizzy being confused, until she meets Paolo and he explains it. It would have been logical but kept the plot intact.
I always thought it was weird that her parents literally went ALL THE WAY to Italy because they "Missed her". They couldn't have just emailed her asking her if she could come home?
I think Isabella just wanted to give Lizzie her time in the spotlight as a thank you for helping her take down Paolo, I think that's why she left her alone onstage
I JUST watched the the other week, and SO MUCH of it didn't make any sense - why would 8th graders go on an INTERNATIONAL trip for graduation??? Why were they honoring the valedictorian in middle school?? WHY THEL HELL DID LALAINE TRY TO PURSUE A MUSIC CAREER INSTEAD OF BEING IN THIS MOVIE?!?!?! The list goes on.

Ok, the issue with the sun bleaching: she’s in 8th grade, dropped into the hands of these Italian fashion designers, asked something she didn’t know they’d ask, and yes says something kinda dumb but who wouldn’t in that situation?

Gordon's lie makes no sense because he was with the class the whole time so how could he have been sneaking? 13. The choreography for the performance was obviously created with one performer in mind even though both Lizzie and Paolo were set to perform. 14. Most people know Haylie Duff sang for Isabella and I used to think she also sang a few of Lizzie's lines, as we can clearly hear there is a much more mature voice in some parts. But the woman behind that voice is Angie Jaree who actually sings the theme song of the TV show.
I always wondered how a middle school could afford to send an entire class away to Italy. Plus, the supervising teacher was probably one of the more likeable people in the movie, in spite of her authority. Still, I can't help but love this movie still! 💖
Also, most of the major characters weren’t there and in most scenes, it was just like 15-20 kids. I feel like the graduating class for a school that big would be a lot bigger. And why do 8th graders get a huge trip like that anyway?
I remember seeing this film on opening weekend with my mom, aunt, and cousin while my dad saw Anger Management in another theater back in 2003 and lemme tell ya, the audience was really something! We had obnoxious little kids kicking and leaning on our seats while the parents were just oblivious watching the movie to even notice... not one child got scolded by their mothers!

It always bugged me that Miss Ungermeyer was the only chaperone. I work part time as a TA for my local school board and we can’t even go on a field trip to the local pool without having at least 1 or 2 more people there depending on grade level. My high school also did an annual European trip and they had at least 4 chaperones for 24 kids and these kids are older than Lizzie (14).
I really enjoyed watching this with my sister when we were younger and after watching this video, I was mindblown! I didn't know a lot of facts just flew across my mind! Still want to watch the movie again though 😂
How about you mention that paolo is like hans from frozen. Indeed lizzie was before frozen but paolo is like hans from frozen. Both pretended to be nice guys who liked the girl but in fact were the hidden villains of the movie. The only difference being that hans was willing to kill
Look I get it that in real life thirteen year olds do not go out with seventeen year olds but you also have to remember that it is just a movie! Things don't play out in movies like they do in real life so in that sense I don't see the relationship between Lizzie and Paolo to be disturbing at all. You could also argue that Paolo was just manipulating her feelings for he also saw how entirely gullible that she was to absolutely believe in anything so he used that to his advantage. So I'm not going to count that one at all for after all it's just movie logic and again in the end it didn't go out as planned anyways so no reasons to freak out. Other than that I agree with everything here in fact I remember watching the movie and that part came up where Gordo makes his confession towards Mrs. Ungermeyer about how he supposedly snuck out and everything and went to the airport alone I myself remember realizing things that I never realized before though you could argue that everything is just a movie and within the plot and that also includes Lizzie's illness. However the number three pick on the list I don't really agree with. You see that was the whole entire point of what Paolo was trying to do! He didn't care whether or not Lizzie could sing he WANTED Isabella to fail and have the mic turned off so that Lizzie could have stage fright and let everything go haywire. So it wasn't the fact that he ignored the fact that she could sing it was the fact that he found it a smart way for her to fail and make it look like she couldn't sing. I didn't get that one at all.
Their relationship is disturbing, manipulative, and slightly abusive. Age isnt a huge factor though. Since she was graduating middle school, she would have been 14 or 15 actually. Palo being 17 isnt that much of an age difference actually, still by a few years but not a gross one. Either way, the relationship is awful

After awhile I just came to the conclusion that it's just plot convenience . 2.) During the finale performance, even after Isabella leaves the stage, Hailey Duff’s voice is heard throughout various parts. As if the song was originally recorded as a duet with Hilary and Hailey, but then the director decided to film it with Lizzie performing solo.

I pretty much agreed with every point listed except for the reasonings they gave for #1. The movie had to portray the relationship between Lizzie and Paulo as adorable... its part of the storyline. If they hadn’t portrayed it like that... it would have been obvious to the audience that Lizzie was being used or that something fishy was going to happen.

The only type of “sun” that could explain the blonde hair without being tan would have to be like sun in or something like that, but even that would really damage your hair. I’ve used sun in before to make my hair a lighter blonde and even being a natural blonde you have to be careful because excessive use can make hair look orangeish and/or really damage the hair
There's a bunch more. Lizzie and Isabell's mikes don't transmit "Wait. Isabella" "Go, sing." The whole family just ups and leaves for Italy because they miss Lizzie. Would have made more sense to get one of the messages that she was sick. Would have totally made more sense. They actually manage to barrel through security with tons of other people behind them that didn't have tickets, yet, the place didn't become an unruly mob and police weren't sent in after the gate crashers, P and I's songs were all in English. Honestly as an adult 3 years is no big deal, my boyfriend is 7 years older than me and we hardly notice anymore unless we compare childhoods. But 14 is barely a teenager and 17 is almost an adult. Add in the fact that this 17 year old is a famous pop star courting a naive girl who has probably never been outside the US, and if adds a whole different layer to their power dynamic. Also if a 17 year old is into a 14 year old it’s usually because they’re immature and girls their own age won’t go for them or they like having the power in the relationship that you get from being older.

Even though these does not make sense but the movie is just as nice as it's first appearance years ago. I just re-watch it few months ago. Still as good as the first time I watched it

So none of y'all is going to point out the sudden accent switch and the fact that Isabella was most likely suppose to speak Italian and Lizzie obviously didn't know the language... AND conveniently for her, everybody speak English?
They did at least provide an explanation for that in the movie by Paulo telling everyone that Isabella wanted to practice her English and so "No Italian."
I can believe that people couldn't tell Lizzy looked like Isabella. Sometimes the smallest change can confused the mind and make it seem like it's someone else.
They could have foreshadowed the reveal that Lizzy looked like Isabella by showing snippets of people looking at Lizzy and Lizzy being confused, until she meets Paolo and he explains it. It would have been logical but kept the plot intact.
I always thought it was weird that her parents literally went ALL THE WAY to Italy because they "Missed her". They couldn't have just emailed her asking her if she could come home?

I just wanted to say: I'm Brazilian and watched this movie as a kid, therefore, in portuguese. Today, for the FIRST time, I realized they were supposed to be 13/14. I ALWAYS assumed they graduated high school and were about to go to college. I'm shocked.

I love movies like this that take young Americans to Europe. Like this one, Monte Carlo, and even Eurotrip. These movies gave me inspiration to go see these places one day for myself. I will forever love this movie.
Ok, the issue with the sun bleaching: she’s in 8th grade, dropped into the hands of these Italian fashion designers, asked something she didn’t know they’d ask, and yes says something kinda dumb but who wouldn’t in that situation?
She could have said she dyed it. That's an obvious answer. Even for someone in middle school.

12. Gordon's lie makes no sense because he was with the class the whole time so how could he have been sneaking?
13. The choreography for the performance was obviously created with one performer in mind even though both Lizzie and Paolo were set to perform.
14. Most people know Haylie Duff sang for Isabella and I used to think she also sang a few of Lizzie's lines, as we can clearly hear there is a much more mature voice in some parts. But the woman behind that voice is Angie Jaree who actually sings the theme song of the TV show.

I remember watching this in the cinema as a kid and loving “This Is What Dreams Are Made Of”. Lizzie McGuire holds a special place in my childhood.
It doesn't matter. No one watches this movie for it to make sense. They watch it cause it's so wholesome and beautiful.

Lizzie's "live" performance is like 4 different singers edited together. Also the stand-in shaking her ass kills me.

I always wondered how a middle school could afford to send an entire class away to Italy. Plus, the supervising teacher was probably one of the more likeable people in the movie, in spite of her authority. Still, I can't help but love this movie still! 💖

Also, most of the major characters weren’t there and in most scenes, it was just like 15-20 kids. I feel like the graduating class for a school that big would be a lot bigger. And why do 8th graders get a huge trip like that anyway?

I remember seeing this film on opening weekend with my mom, aunt, and cousin while my dad saw Anger Management in another theater back in 2003 and lemme tell ya, the audience was really something! We had obnoxious little kids kicking and leaning on our seats while the parents were just oblivious watching the movie to even notice... not one child got scolded by their mothers!

All I can say is that for number 1 is true but also back when I was a kid I learned how not to trust cute Italian boys cuz they are lairs. So that was something.🤷🏾♀️
To be honest, if I saw someone who looked like Beyonce, but with a completely different haircut that was walking around with a tour group of foreign teenagers, I would assume that she just looked like Beyonce. People didn't make the connection until she was standing next to Paolo

Paolo was manipulative and a narcissist. . He didn't care if Lizzie could sing. She was a tool in his plan.
It always bugged me that Miss Ungermeyer was the only chaperone. I work part time as a TA for my local school board and we can’t even go on a field trip to the local pool without having at least 1 or 2 more people there depending on grade level. My high school also did an annual European trip and they had at least 4 chaperones for 24 kids and these kids are older than Lizzie (14).
I really enjoyed watching this with my sister when we were younger and after watching this video, I was mindblown! I didn't know a lot of facts just flew across my mind!

How about you mention that paolo is like hans from frozen. Indeed lizzie was before frozen but paolo is like hans from frozen. Both pretended to be nice guys who liked the girl but in fact were the hidden villains of the movie. The only difference being that hans was willing to kill

Look I get it that in real life thirteen year olds do not go out with seventeen year olds but you also have to remember that it is just a movie! Things don't play out in movies like they do in real life so in that sense I don't see the relationship between Lizzie and Paolo to be disturbing at all. You could also argue that Paolo was just manipulating her feelings for he also saw how entirely gullible that she was to absolutely believe in anything so he used that to his advantage. So I'm not going to count that one at all for after all it's just movie logic and again in the end it didn't go out as planned anyways so no reasons to freak out.
Other than that I agree with everything here in fact I remember watching the movie and that part came up where Gordo makes his confession towards Mrs. Ungermeyer about how he supposedly snuck out and everything and went to the airport alone I myself remember realizing things that I never realized before though you could argue that everything is just a movie and within the plot and that also includes Lizzie's illness.
However the number three pick on the list I don't really agree with.
You see that was the whole entire point of what Paolo was trying to do! He didn't care whether or not Lizzie could sing he WANTED Isabella to fail and have the mic turned off so that Lizzie could have stage fright and let everything go haywire. So it wasn't the fact that he ignored the fact that she could sing it was the fact that he found it a smart way for her to fail and make it look like she couldn't sing. I didn't get that one at all.
Their relationship is disturbing, manipulative, and slightly abusive. Age isnt a huge factor though. Since she was graduating middle school, she would have been 14 or 15 actually. Palo being 17 isnt that much of an age difference actually, still by a few years but not a gross one. Either way, the relationship is awful

When I was 15 though, my mom allowed me to date a boy who was 17 and it wasnt a big deal to her. It's just about how the parent feels

Everytime I watch this movie I always have the same 2 questions . 1). Why are the are kids having their graduation first then going on the field trip ? After awhile I just came to the conclusion that it's just plot convenience .
2.) How can the school/teachers afford to pay for the entire graduating class to go on a field all the way to another country ? 🤔🤷🏾♂️
For most schools, the field trips like that would be paid for either by fundraisers, or by the families of the students themselves.
I never really considered Lizzie's relationship creepy like she's 14 he's 17 like that's only a 3 year age difference. Like nobody would be like that's creepy if he was 43 and her 40. Also it's not like she was being coerced into sex.
Disney still does the 14 year old liking a 17 year old storyline. Maya and Josh in GMW. And they portrayed it as wrongish. It's kinda ick. And you can't compare that to 40 year old ADULTS.

Watching this movie as an adult took me out of it a bit because then I noticed all the flaws. But I don't care. It's such an adorable movie and gives me feels.
During the finale performance, even after Isabella leaves the stage, Hailey Duff’s voice is heard throughout various parts.
As if the song was originally recorded as a duet with Hilary and Hailey, but then the director decided to film it with Lizzie performing solo.

I pretty much agreed with every point listed except for the reasonings they gave for #1. The movie had to portray the relationship between Lizzie and Paulo as adorable... its part of the storyline. If they hadn’t portrayed it like that... it would have been obvious to the audience that Lizzie was being used or that something fishy was going to happen.
So, The Lizzie McGuire Movie has an awful screenplay. I feel like Homer and Marge going out from the cinema after seeing it in Co-Dependent's Day episode.

The only type of “sun” that could explain the blonde hair without being tan would have to be like sun in or something like that, but even that would really damage your hair. I’ve used sun in before to make my hair a lighter blonde and even being a natural blonde you have to be careful because excessive use can make hair look orangeish and/or really damage the hair
There's a bunch more. Lizzie and Isabell's mikes don't transmit "Wait. Isabella" "Go, sing." The whole family just ups and leaves for Italy because they miss Lizzie. Would have made more sense to get one of the messages that she was sick. Would have totally made more sense. They actually manage to barrel through security with tons of other people behind them that didn't have tickets, yet, the place didn't become an unruly mob and police weren't sent in after the gate crashers, P and I's songs were all in English.
Don't get me wrong, its a fun movie, it's for kids, I think it's greeat. But, it is plot hole heavy.

So it was in her best interest to kiss Lizzie’s ass and try to repair the long lost ‘friendship’ they had.

Honestly as an adult 3 years is no big deal, my boyfriend is 7 years older than me and we hardly notice anymore unless we compare childhoods. But 14 is barely a teenager and 17 is almost an adult. Add in the fact that this 17 year old is a famous pop star courting a naive girl who has probably never been outside the US, and if adds a whole different layer to their power dynamic. Also if a 17 year old is into a 14 year old it’s usually because they’re immature and girls their own age won’t go for them or they like having the power in the relationship that you get from being older.
Minors can still have sketchy relationships? A 10 year old and a 15 year old would be creepy as hell so I don’t think that argument works out. Also someone that still in the midst of puberty and someone on the brink of adulthood (legal adulthood anyway) 14/17 is definitely sketchy

Because as he tells Lizzie that when you lip sync you still sing so when they turned on his mic and cancelled the voice over , the audience heard his real voice.
I'm sorry, Ms Mojo, but how could you (and apparently the rest of Italy in the movie) miss the fact that though Lizzie can sing, she and Isabella's voices sound TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOT ONLY WHEN SPEAKING, BUT ALSO WHEN SINGING.
