      David Glaum...that should be the standard for all departments. In a straightforward job like this one, 60 seconds from ‘wheels stop’ to water on the fire, or at least, attack line charged and ready to make entry.

      SteamLocoScrapper Blow it out your A$$!!! These guys are here to do their job.....not to make videos!!! I have also “uttered, damn it! You just blocked my view!!!” BUT, as I understand it....1) Preserve life FIRST! 2) Structure second. PERIOD! Videos are nice. Definitely interesting.....and these guys can teach a lot.....but if it was YOUR house....would you prefer them to put out the fire & protect your home/garage/car.... or have them stay out of the way & let your belongings burn to the ground so someone can get a video? Something to think about. Dear Higher Power.....please protect ALL first responders - you know the devils they face.

    Regarding the several comments about the large number of companies responding, it seems to me that it is better to send potentially more than you need and then cancel them if they are not needed than to not send enough and wait ten minutes or more for the additional help after you request it. Many years ago, I worked for a department that had a standard residential structure response consisting of just two four-man engines and a battalion chief. The crews were very professional, but if it was a working fire, we invariably needed to call for a second alarm to get more people to the scene. Incidentally, that department was one of those that eventually merged into what is now known as Sacramento Metro Fire.

    • @robertross7666
      @robertross7666 2 роки тому +1

      Agreed, but sending the Heavy Rescue to a single story, single family structure fire, is a bit much

    • @salabdulla6623
      @salabdulla6623 2 роки тому

      I served in a department not too far from Sacramento...we regularly have near 110 degree days in the summer in the Central Valley. Because of heat exhaustion/stroke risk, you have to rotate out crews pretty quickly. Not to mention the risk posed by dry vegetation.

    • @Bones_Jr.
      @Bones_Jr. 2 роки тому +2

      @@robertross7666 For what its worth, their standard response for a residential structure fire is 4 engines, 2 trucks, 1 medic unit, and 2 battalion chiefs. In this case, the rescue was functioning as the second truck company. Metro Fire's Rescue 21 and Hazmat 109 carry the tools and ground ladders of a truck company, in addition to their specialized equipment.

    • @robertross7666
      @robertross7666 2 роки тому +1

      @@Bones_Jr. thanks for clarifying that for me. For departments unable to staff specialized units full time, the system you described sounds so much more efficient than those units being cross staffed with an engine or truck company, and having to drive back to the station to pick up a different apparatus, if they were already out.

    • @Bones_Jr.
      @Bones_Jr. 2 роки тому

      @@robertross7666 You're welcome. Also, I forgot to mention that they run three-person engine companies which, to me at least, makes that initial hose pull and fire attack even more impressive. They run four-person truck companies (which includes the rescue and hazmat companies).

      Jason VanDewater...I’m not armchair QBing either...maybe the 1st due engine could have stretched in from the hydrant...obviously they had a working fire, smoke showing from side A...and had a supply line in place, then the 2nd engine could take the hydrant and pump into the line that was already laid? What do you think of that?

    Four engine companies and not a single one tagged a hydrant.

      @Bones_Jr. 2 роки тому

      There was one immediately in front of the first-arriving engine. There is a shot of them hooking it after they pulled the tank line.

    I learned where not to live, no 360, no primary search, bad truck placement, no water supply from second due truck, ughhh

    • @Bones_Jr.

      As mentioned in other comments, this could be used as a training film.
      Great engine placement, with a hydrant right in front of it (3:50). Great truck company placement, practically in front of the fire (the ground ladders were perfectly adequate for this one-story structure). Four engines, a truck, and a medic unit on scene within minutes of each other. Water on the fire before the second-arriving engine's siren had completely stopped. Everyone showing hustle and working with a purpose. Regarding primary search, it is hard to make a definitive judgment when the camera was not always pointed at the front of the house.
