In this in-depth interview, Rubin delivers some insightful stuff: his carpet-laying theory about writing, the story behind the Jacob's Ladder gut-wrenching opening scene, and which of his screenplays came about thanks to a burrito that didn't digest well.

Thank you for sharing this
he wrote Jacob's Ladder so he is a genius
"Jacob's Ladder" is one of the greatest films ever made. Such a sad truth it is still so underrated...
Love the works of Bruce Joel Rubin... His stories have changed my life. Now I know why "Jacob's Ladder" had such a huge, life-long and lasting impact on me. I even bought the book to find certain quotes from the movie (this was before the internet). Thank you so much for this interview!
Catherine S. Todd which book?
I remember when LSD first came out and it wasn't yet illegal. I remember going through the "birth of life and death mystical journey" Rubin speaks of. I had *almost* forgotten about it; thanks for the reminder. Wow.
