Hey bud, your choke knob is not the air/fuel screw ratio. Your air screw is the little flat head screw located down to the right. The choke knob you are turning is the idle screw!! Clean your carb, reset your AIR screw to 1 1/2 turns out from all the way in, then warm your bike up, and turn that choke knob out in small increments until it idles. I have a 95 RMX250 that runs and idles like knew. Stock carb Any other questions let me know!!
I also had the 94 RMX and I also could never get it to idle right or the jetting right on it and that's after throwing a suitcase off jets at it but still a fantastic bike!👍
Thats why yamahas and hondas and ktms are the kings , suzuki start moving backwards in the late 80s in the dirt bike segment , rare at this times to see one riding , and if you see one , everyone will look at you , like if you are riding an AMC gremlin 😅
Turning the choke knob does not adjust the air/fuel mixture. That's just the idle adjustment. The actual air/fuel mixture screw is the very small flathead screw above the float bowl. From the video, I can see yours is screwed just about all the way in. That will cause the bike to not idle and also will foul spark plugs. The screw should be 1.5 turns out from fully seated. I have a 94 RMX too and ditched the stock carb for a keihin pwk 38 air striker. Well worth the $.
I had a KX250 two stroke, I'm done with two strokes permanently.. The kick start issues & vibration almost made me leave dirt bike riding. The KTM 350 fuel injected, electric start, put the fun back into off road riding. Every time I ride I'm looking for gnarly stuff on purpose. Everyone can afford a premium dirt bike. What no one tells you is that Japanese two strokes are gutless torquewise at low rpm.
The choke is not a air screw then brass fitting is your air/fule mix for cold start pull turn choke clockwise to shut off fast idle choke up for 15 seconds shut choke off turn choke counterclockwise that will give you your fast idle fine-tune when you’re all geared up and ready to go for a ride term choke clockwise to turn off fast idle
I can tell straight away the choke is not on properly it has a screw the knob turns make sure its seat so the knob is turn the screw and seal the thread on the choke so it don't leak air
Look up the UA-camr Navy Seabee he made a video on an rmx250 he got running perfectly with that stock Keihin PJ carb by swapping out the cylinder for an RM250 cylinder (89-95 RM250 cylinders will bolt onto an RMX)
I bought a pwk 38 for my 89 rmx but it was 10 mm longer than the mikuni tm stock carb and I couldn't get it to fit because it was a to tight of a fit. Did you have to change anything?
I didn't have to change anything on mine, it just bolted right in. Which part of the carb doesn't fit? Also make sure you got this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C178JY4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got the PWK 38 AS and put it on my My 92 RMX. It is to long (carb side to air filter side) for my bike as well . I was able to get it to fit by cutting a part of the airbox rubber (A little tab on the inside of where it goes around the carb) and pulling the air filter box, then puttung the carb on the bike, then putting the air cleaner box back on. It is a tight fit but it worked.
Ok i have a question and dont really know where to ask it. Recently my bike will start fine and I can ride it but it doesn't idle well. If im not revving it a bit more than I used to then it shuts off It does start back up. Its a relatively recent thing i thought maybe adjust the idle but that didn't work. My friend and I took the carb off cleaned it so idk anymore. Its an old bike but has been taken care of. 96 Suzuki RM 250, also would the carb you got fit my bike? I will look for it. any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks P.S. I wrote that before finishing the video lol
Sounds like you aren't getting enough fuel. If the bike will idle with a little throttle and not sputter and die, it sounds like your idle needs adjusting or there is something clogging the fuel on idle.

The secret to those RMXs is put the RM head gasket in, it’s thinner, gives it more compression and wakes that bike right up!!

I have to say I totally agree. I prefer electric start over kick and this bike is an older one with issues I don't like dealing with.
Must not be a real man
Sissy. They make fully-electric bikes now if you don't like the smell of exhaust or, how the vibration irritates your va jean a.
Was the replacement carb a Genuine Keihin or a Chinese clone Ebay special for 40 or 50 bucks?

Excellent.
That kick start legday warmup at the end is why I'll leave the "real" dirtbikes to you youngsters 😂
Love the vid.

Did you use any ricochet stand?
Are you in phx? I just got a 94 rm250 and have some questions if you’ve got the time
I’m in phx.
Awesome bike the Best I love it
7:50 where can I buy a side stand like this?

Hey man I took your advice and bought one, can you please tell me how you tuned yours
Colby Hale you bought the pwk air striker carb?
Yes and never mind on the tuneing thing it was easy
Lucky guy, I have that same carb but idling will load mine up. Mine is a bear to kick.
Need assistance working with my 96.

I would just stick with the Mikuni TM carb like I did with my 90 RMX
