So he only finished 4.5 minutes late after swimming almost a whole extra mile in those conditions while exhausted? Sounds like an Ironman to me regardless! So proud of Chad! When I saw on ig that he registered for next year that same day it encouraged me so much! Just amazing!

Took my brother 3 times to finish this race. He was very upset the first time, but on the second time, it made him angry and more determined! Then he finished the 3rd one. THANK GOODNESS, BECAUSE WE WERE TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT IT, LOL!! ON TO THE NEXT ONE CHAD, YOUR TIME WILL COME!!

I normal don’t comment on videos, but I just wanted to comment to say that Chad strength is admirable, the fact that he took a risk and did what he loves to do takes so much courage.
Chad….there are so many people who would like to compete in something like this but because of fear they never will. You’ve show us courage, faith and so much more….most importantly you’ve shown your children how to put aside fear and take a chance in achieving your dreams.

Chad, you trained hard, you showed up, you knew the assignment, and you're still a champ. Even the best have had disappointments, but they prevailed at some point. When we experience setbacks, they're God's gift to show us something that will help us to prevail the next time around. I started crying in the very beginning of the video when Gabe’s Mom was crying wishing Chad well. I cry easily if someone cries I’ll be crying in a few seconds. You’re a winner to me for just getting in that water on such a cold day. It was soo important for your kids to see you cry. It makes you human. You won’t win everything but you keep getting out there until you do. Great video! Thanks for sharing!

I always struggled with letting my child see me cry. I felt I always had to be strong - that it would frighten her or undermine her sense of security. I think that was a mistake. Even today, she can’t allow me to let my guard down and ask for help and she is an adult. I salute you for letting your children see you as a complete person. It will make them realize you are only human and doing the best you can and maybe value you even more. If you act like Superman or Superwoman it’s what they will expect from you all their lives.

As I watched this several hours ago, something came to mind that beautiful daddy told me, when I lost a track and field race. He said, Baby if you never fail, you will never know what real success feels like. I trained hard every day and I lost , but there would be another race , it was and I won. So I started using that in my everyday life. Just something from a loving dad to his child. I hope this helps some. Love your entire family👪

This video made me emotional, the tears started flowing.
You know what Chad? You didn't win the Ironman race YET. BUT you've already won at LIFE. Although you haven't went into detail. You had a challenging upbringing, the odds were against you. Things for you could have easily turned out a different way. As I write this, I think about the BIG lyrics in JUICY. "This is dedicated to all the people that told me, I would never amount to nothing". Chad you are truly a success story. You've always been worthy as you are! You've stopped generational curses. You've created generational wealth. You've sacrifice for others.
I can't help but to also think of a few months ago when you said that you wanted to make sure you were living out God's purpose for your life. Being only 4mins over with the swim requirement. To be so close. Perhaps this setback is how God is using you. It would have been cool for you to win the IronMan your very first try. But it will be more inspirational and a testimony to win your second. This will be one of those poignant moments, teachable moments, in your future autobiography, in your testimony to others in the future. As a inspirational speaker or pastor. As one of God's vessels. As a influencer.
What was most beautiful about this video. Was seeing how loved you are. Your mother-in-law crying, being just as proud, as she would, for a child she gave birth to. Kelly and Justin proving that blood couldn't make you all any thicker. Your children still seeing perfection in you even when you don't. Gabe being your biggest cheerleader!! Your other family coming to love on you. They all are proof of God's love for you and he heard your prayers.

Y’all got me over here crying and Big Chad WON🏆🏆🏆 I get it though. I just made a 96 on my exam. I had been making 100’s throughout and then near the end I made the 96. You could take it again and I still made a 96. I’m 57 and still determined to be a straight A student even at university level. I told myself girl you better dry your eyes and give God the glory. I was thinking that maybe one of the other Ironman contest in a more temperate climate might have been better. PCB is not as warm this time of year as people might think. Northwest Florida in the winter is colder than many people realize. The water can be cold and choppy. If you didn’t train under those conditions it could come as a big surprise. Don’t give up on your dream.
