Zee, you are the person who changed my perspective. I was having less and less time to play board games with my friends and I almost gave up the hoby. Then I saw your review of Onirim, picked it up and began my solo board game tour. Love Oniverse, love Friday, like Elder Sign, play other coops solo. Now I can occasionally play with 2 too, but still a solo gamer at heart. I regret nothing and I'd LOVE to see more solo plays.
I've watched so many videos where you talk about Onirim, I finally broke down and ordered it. It's on the way. In the meantime, I've installed the app and have been playing it incessantly today. I've become obsessed. I'm already a compulsive shuffler of cards, and often get a deck of cards out just to sit and shuffle them over and over, so I can see I am going to love every aspect of this game, even the thing that annoys most people. :) Thank you for harping about this game. I would never have tried it if you hadn't kept saying it was so good. Now, where's that postman!
Just picked this game up a month ago because of Zee's review and how often he talks about it every now and then in videos. Really enjoyed this video Zee, with how clear you were in explaining rules, entertaining and your smooth subtle jingles. ; ) Great job!
Great fun to watch, thanks! I would love to see more of these. I'm also a big fan of this game. I think my favorite expansion is the one where it makes you fetch the doors in a certain order. I pretty much always play with that one. I was glad you used the Dreamcatcher one because I wasn't sure if I was playing it quite right.
Dreamcatchers is my favorite one. Not only it helps you with the shuffle and to deal with nightmares, but I like having to save the Little Lost Dreams.
Thanks Zee for this live play. Really liked it. To hang out with you and to see how someone els plays a solo play. I can see what you do and you talk about your decisions. I would love to see more. Still thinking if I will buy Sylvion.
"Zee Solos ________" should be the name of these live play videos. Zee should have an entire series of games he plays solo, both games made to be played solo (Friday, Hostage Negotiator, etc) and multiplayer games with a GOOD solo variant. #copyright! ; )
Thanks for your advice on game selection. I own the entire Oniverse series and Neuroshima Hex. The Oniverse games are fantastic as I am a flight nurse who lives in hotels every other week. I get my gaming fix on the road. Please do more of these!
A perfect 37 seconds of perfectly manicured arm... I was like "Stream Frozen" until... IT CAME ALIVE! Actually, I tried to read the instructions of the game (a copy with all the expansions in the box) and got lost enough to give up on it. Not sure if it was the instruction book or the unlabeled expansions that messed me up. This cleared it up for me. All hail Zee. And Foamy the Squirrel. My two fav UA-camrs :)
Zee, great playthrough. I have both the physical and app version. Don't have any of the other games in this series, but really looking to buy some (all?). I play a lot of solo games, so would love for you to play these and other solo games. Perhaps once a week / twice a month or something like that.
This was fun to watch! I have the app and I wasn't sure whether I wanted to get the box too, but seeing the expansions, I think I'll pick it up sometime soon.
Never heard of this game, so it would be quite interesting if I add it to my collection (after finding it!) because it would be the only game that is truly solo (and not a game that has a solo option). Thanks for the playthrough Zee! :D
I bought this game based on your raving reviews in the past :) I've had the physical copy for awhile NIS.. then saw Suzannne mention the app. I've played the app a BUNCH of times, but my winning ratio has never been above 35%. But it's nice to see the boardgame version and to know there are expansions in there - so I guess I need to crack it open! Though I lose 2/3 of the time, I really like this game!
Thanks for this, Zee! I enjoy Onirim a lot, but it seems to have been out of print for quite some time, now. Do you know whether/when there will be a new print of this great game? Thanks .
Only played the app, holy cow there's a lot of shuffling in this game! around 50% win rate, 40 games in. I like it but would hate all that shuffling in the real game.
Yeah, would love to see a full play of Nautilion or whatever other solo games you enjoy. Didn't know you could play five tribes solo! I have to find that, I like the game a lot more than my wife does so I don't get it to the table nearly as much as I would like.
Loved the play through! One comment...the camera that was on your face was shaking a lot. not sure if it was on the table or what, but when you moved it would shake. Keep these up..it was awesome!
Good Games Zee! Love this. I've been playing a lot solo but I had never played Onirim until the app just went on sale recently. I liked the app so much I thought it probably wasn't necessary to get a physical copy......BUT (mind blow!) EXPANSIONS! I had no idea the most recent printing came with expansions. So much diversity! I'm gonna have to get it.
Hi Zee, love to see your video's! Can you help me... With the dreamcatcher expansion, when you caught all lost dreams, and the dreamcatchers are full, but do not have all the doors yet, do you put the limbo pile back in the deck? Or do you still have to clear dreamcatchers?
I can definitely relate to the love for this game due to constantly shuffling cards and wishing to play a game with someone. ie. magic, yugioh, pokemon
Could you do a live play of the game with all the expansions at some point? That's how I play this game and I'm not 100% that I'm doing it correctly when all the rules stack together
I know you did the video of solo games, but since you like solo stuff can you make a video about the best solo tablet top games.Stuff like mice and mystics and swords and sorcery. I love your take on games and their mechanics.
Why not sleeve the cards? And have you checked out Urbion yet? Lastly, you've had two situations where you used a key to trigger a prophecy and had a door + matching key. Other than that, there was at least one other key in the remaining 4 cards. Why not put the key on top, then the door? That way, you'll have a key in hand before opening the door and reshuffling (thus losing the extra key in the deck).
I SOOOOO wish y'all could set up a co-op game of this we're a winner of a raffle could play and participate live (not through the computer) with ya zee.
I was excited to play this, played it around 20 times now but I realized that this game often just comes down to the luck of your draw. If you don't get lucky and draw to closed a door or two in the first 3 or 4 rounds, you are pretty much doomed. If you keep drawing sun for example in your first 10 cards, which happens more often than you'd think, then it's simple done right there and then. I wanted to like this game more than I do, but as it stands now, it's just an ok game, nothing too great, and that's only because of the points mentioned. Thanks.
Did you make use of the key cards to control the deck? Without expansions I win about 75% of the time just making sure I leverage the key to control the draws. Then, basically, most of the luck is mitigated as long as you keep drawing keys. When you don't have one its rather exciting and nerve-wracking.
There is no sense in triggering a prophecy one card after you triggered another one, and you should consider the "discard 5 cards" option for nightmares a little bit more, I also hated it when I started playing, because you can draw two nightmares in a row, but after all, it's not that bad
Hi Zee- You are a very fun teacher- ! :) Quick question-- have you and any other people had any Real Nightmares since playing Onirim? Some gaming companies, in exchange for popularity, have Spells put on games that bring Real Demons into peoples homes- an 'Open Door' for them to enter. That ' demon' overseer playing piece you mentioned, could have a real demon attached to it.. and the whole game for that matter, and Allow for Real Demons to Enter our dreams.. Your experiences?? Thank you all..
I just ordered and played onirim and I have to say this is the most overrated game I've played so far. Not impressed with it at all. Hoping the expansions it comes with makes it better!

Just got my copy after hearing Zee' recommendations. Very helpful video to understand the rules.

This is the happiest I’ve ever seen Zee. 😮

yeah I'd like to see a solo of Friday.. I enjoyed this about exactly as much as I thought I would.. +2
Zee, you are just amazing. Great video, great guy!
It is so good seeing solo games getting some love. Thanks Zee!
Great fun to watch, thanks! I would love to see more of these.

This was awesome. Would love to see you go through all the Oniverse games.
That was fun to watch, Zee!
+1 to more plays.
I got Onirim for x-mass this year found your video, thanks very helpful!
You forgot to discard a card at 9:19! Cheat! ;)
Stumbled across this. Immediately ordered this game. Perfect for travelling.
"Zee Solos ________" should be the name of these live play videos. Zee should have an entire series of games he plays solo, both games made to be played solo (Friday, Hostage Negotiator, etc) and multiplayer games with a GOOD solo variant. #copyright! ; )
Glen I love to play solo and would live a solo gameplay series on DT
Seconded! Great idea.
Thirded! or whatever...
I'd definitely watch that.
Agree!
Thanks for your advice on game selection. I own the entire Oniverse series and Neuroshima Hex. The Oniverse games are fantastic as I am a flight nurse who lives in hotels every other week. I get my gaming fix on the road.
Please do more of these!
First vid Ive watched from "The Dice Tower". I must say, now I want this game, and I also want to hang out with Zee. Good work!
I would like to see more from this series! Just picked up the app. Loving it.
Such a great game! Very fun to watch it played by Zee!
Please, do more Oniverse games! They are such an awesome Solo experience it's really cool to share them. Yeah, I know how that sounds contradictory...
Why are there not more of these videos
Love Onirim, thanks for sharing! I personally do not play apps... board games are my escape from tech!
Great video Zee. Love the idea of all the oniverse games being played. A solo game series would be awesome also!
A perfect 37 seconds of perfectly manicured arm... I was like "Stream Frozen" until... IT CAME ALIVE!

This is a great solitaire game, I really need to purchase more "oni-verse" games. Your commentary was great as well Zee

I have both...prefer the physical version. It feels like the app cheats at times.
Still haven't seen an episode of this for all the other oniverse games :( I'd love to watch them all!
Thanks for this, Zee! I enjoy Onirim a lot, but it seems to have been out of print for quite some time, now. Do you know whether/when there will be a new print of this great game? Thanks .
If I am playing Onirim at the same time are we both still playing the game Solo? ;)
I'd love to see zee do a live play through of sylvion and castellion
It did make sense and am having a blast playing. I just recently found the app while looking for a different game. My best is 19 cards left over.
Only played the app, holy cow there's a lot of shuffling in this game!

👏 👏 👏 you’ve owned that last game!
Wow, amazing luck in game one having so many of the nightmares hold off juuuust long enough!
Loved it. I am going to try the happy dreams exspansion, and it was nice seeing how the dream catchers work. I tried once, but didn't quite get it.
Hi Zee, love to see your video's! Can you help me... With the dreamcatcher expansion, when you caught all lost dreams, and the dreamcatchers are full, but do not have all the doors yet, do you put the limbo pile back in the deck? Or do you still have to clear dreamcatchers?
That was cool. I don't usually play with more than one expansion at a time. I'd love to see you play the newest one, Nautilion, next!
Good game! Can't wait to play my copy!
I can definitely relate to the love for this game due to constantly shuffling cards and wishing to play a game with someone. ie. magic, yugioh, pokemon
I think Zee is really nice! :)
How and what technique do you use to shuffle the cards? Whenever i play it gets tedious...
Another Onirim Playthrough please!
What if you draw a door? What happens? If you just shuffle it back in, why not simply keep them in a separate deck to avoid the endless shuffling?
How many cards in the base game (not including expansions)?
And what expansions do people think are the best?
ty
Could you guys review a game called "Chimera Isle" ? It came out a couple years ago and I was wondering what you might think about it.
Could you do a live play of the game with all the expansions at some point? That's how I play this game and I'm not 100% that I'm doing it correctly when all the rules stack together
Great play through of a great game
I know you did the video of solo games, but since you like solo stuff can you make a video about the best solo tablet top games.Stuff like mice and mystics and swords and sorcery. I love your take on games and their mechanics.
Zee, can you play the other Oniverse games too? Go for Castellion and Then Sylvion! Urbion is a bit rare but nice too.
Great vid Zee!
Great live play. :)
Looks a really cool game but seems to be out of stock everywhere!! Been playing the app but would prefer to have the physical game

Thanks for the vid - too much card handling for me, maybe I'll try the app, let my phone do the shuffling.
Should get a poker card shuffling machine.
There is no sense in triggering a prophecy one card after you triggered another one, and you should consider the "discard 5 cards" option for nightmares a little bit more, I also hated it when I started playing, because you can draw two nightmares in a row, but after all, it's not that bad

all fine
does anyone else think there are too many nightmare cards? The app is brutal
Riffle shuffling or mash shuffling with sleeves are the only ways to actually randomize a deck. Bad shuffling triggers me ;)
Two thumbs up
I feel like Onirim is a misnomer. This should be called Shuffling: The Game.
Can't be a misnomer because the word is made up
No sleeves... Aaaaaarrrrggghhhhh....
I just ordered and played onirim and I have to say this is the most overrated game I've played so far. Not impressed with it at all. Hoping the expansions it comes with makes it better!
