Something fun to do as a knight is once the enemy is on the ground, just drop the sword, grab their visor, and just punch them until they give up. It’s not very effective, but it’s fun.
Yknow, i wish you could choke somebody in this game. With the half sword stance, i could easily see a ''strangling'' mechanic when you get behind your enemy and put something on their neck. Would add more to combat.
in reality it would be far more difficult than this to kill someone in that armor. Even if you managed to get the point of your blade into a gap, you would then be up against the mail protection in that area, and that is by no means easy to penetrate through. Of course, if you put enough force, it might not matter whether you get past the mail or not. just the force of that pushing against the throat might be enough to disable the person. mail can't disperse force like a rigid plate shell. I have a suspicion that a lot of well armored knights met their end by having a blade shoved up their unprotected rears after they fell on the ground. or into their groins. either way, by making it so hard to hurt them elsewhere, it makes those two areas the only completely unprotected vital spots (unless you flip the visor open)
Don't swing so fast with heavy weapons. You want to move your mouse with your characters hands, get a feel for the weight. Slower attacks hit harder and are more stable, as you are putting your body into it. You just need to understand the momentum of your weapon, how your character's hands respond to it, and avoid going faster than your character's hands can move, and try to follow the swing with your mouse. Ideally, the only time you should stop holding click is to move the camera, half-sword, or reset your weapon's position to the center. I would recommend turning your sensitivity really low, but not all the way low, it helps with this very much. Make sure your muscles are relaxed too, that helps a lot.
The details in the physics are very interesting, but they look like blind drunkards instead of people with any level of control with what they're doing. I hope they improve the animations because at the moment I can't help but laugh at them

Love games like these yet it looks like qwop with swords right now
The fighting systems in mordhau and chiv are completely different. The characters movements are physics based and respond to the way the blade interacts with their own such as speed and angle. It's much more complicated than in mordhau and chiv and will take a lot more tweaking to get right.
They can absolutely improve footwork and the character's balance for sure (both player and NPC characters). I'm not exactly sure how they're doing the calculations (nor am I good at physics lmao) but, assuming they're also simulating each important muscle groups as Exanima does, then there's always room for improvement. Of course, different developers, different projects with different scopes, but still, as many people have been complaining, AI (including the player's AI which keeps track of balance) is pretty wonky and unresponsive.

Out of armor seems realistic enough, however In Armor should have more half-swording and grappling/wrestling involved. Would be cool if you could drop the longsword and pull a rondel dagger for grappling.
@@fallencrusader2975 You can, it randomly gives you items and sometimes you can get daggers and maces as secondary weapons to longswords and polearms.
