Hello! Thank you for an absolutely superb video! I went solo with 661GS at RAF Kirknewton in 1974 (aged 16), and was asked to become a staff cadet, where I remained until 1977. I guess I had around 100 flights in T31 and T21 (and yes, T53!) gliders. Looking at the video, much has been lost in the way of buildings. including the old Ritchie Camp. Interesting to see that the Bellman hangar is still extant, after it was condemned for chrysotile asbestos. We used to sweep the asbestos dust off the wings of the gliders every weekend prior to flying! Surprising I'm still here at 66 years old.....Went on to have over 85 aircraft types flown, with c150 different airfields /airports in my logbook. Kirknewton was and always will be my "mother" airfield.
Wow that's incredible 😲 Yeah it's an old airfield so a lot memories from a lot of people. I've only ever drove past so not sure what buildings have been there. I know there was a lot more buildings years ago but couldn't tell you when they were pulled down. You would've seen some amazing views as flying the drone gives you great views 🫶🏼🏴

The country side around the barracks in kirknewton which use to be an old american air base
Hi Just wondered if you needed permission for this and/or if there was a DJI geofence protecting it.
Yes, there is a Flight Restricted Zone around RAF Kirknewton so permission to fly is required from the aerodrome operator.
@@Mexi257 Hi, thanks for that. Any idea who that is? RAF Syerston/MOD?
@@Mexi257 Great, thanks. That confirms it, it was RAF Syerston. Much appreciated. 👍
