Hot/weird take: Idol of Oblivion took a little time to catch on because of the "make a big token" clause. If the card ONLY said "Tap: Draw a card if you made a token this turn," it would've gotten popular more quickly. I know that sounds weird, but I feel like this has happened with other cards as well. With Idol, when I first saw it, I thought, "Well, this will be good in something like Trostani because that's a big token deck." A few months later, I realized that the card is just good in almost any deck.
That is exactly what happened to me! When I first saw the card I focused in on the token creature part of the cart and that led me to only thinking about adding it to token creature decks. It wasn't until I saw someone playing it in a Prosper Tomebound deck of all places that I realized the card draw was any tokens. Now its a standout card draw source in my Ognis, Ziatora, and Anhelo decks.
One of my favorite cards I've been slotting into every deck in Green lately is Blessed Respite. I love the flexibility of it, it fogs the next combat and shuffles targets player's graveyard. I've always loved fogs, but the fact that it can hose a graveryard deck _or_ save me from mill in a pinch _on top of_ being a fog is absolutely lovely
I agree, Blessed Respite just for the Graveyard use is worth the 2 mana. The fact that it has a fog as well it should go into basically any green deck out there.
9:34 - Tonight, I got 88x +1/+1 counters on Baba Lysaga thanks to Mazirek. It was pretty hilarious. I debated attacking (I mean, how often is she a 91/91?), but everyone had a blocker, and it was more effective to use her ability.
Mirran safehouse already has 10 copies in my "save for later" binder, and I VERY much think Matt is right and that I will have some good trade value at my LGS in the future.
Viridian Revel was awesome when they spiked treasure production. I would a couple of base copies during the high and sold the 5 foils I had for $20 apiece.

Is Zedruu on the same plane as Griff, and are either of them alive at this point? I think I read that Zedruu martyred herself, and Griff was from a really long time ago. But yes I would agree on theme, Zedruu for sure, maybe even Blim which would make for five colors.
The beauty of Batwing Brume is, that you can use it on players not attacking you! just let them kill someone else on the table and at the end of combat step, kill them with their own army :)

I remember having fangren marauder in one of my first decks ever, and I used to think oh its neat in the right matchup but now its like ready to gain 60 life in one turn?
So friday night after our commander night me and my cousin got into a conversation of what i am. He says im a control player (because i run counter spells). I think im more of a combo player because the decks i play the main goal is to combo and win. You guys might of already talked about this but you should do a topic on how to classify your decks and play styles ie. Combo, control, aggro, midrange, or a combination of them. Even a episode on how to roughly tell your decks power level
When Dana mentioned support for Dungeons as a mechanic I had a flashback to playing a game with Joey at Commandfest Bellevue where we got wrecked by a dungeons deck. Never saw that coming, much like Dana grabbing that CTS segue.
Twinning Staff has always been insane. The deck it was printed in is absolutely absurd with it resolved. If you stuck it in a (spellslinger) Riku of Two Reflections or melek Izzet paragon or Wort the Raidmother deck it was one of the best cards in the 99. The only reason people didn't recognize its power was because its homes were so limited. The power of the card is the same, there are just more places to see it now.
Mirran Safehouse was definitely one that I saw in a box opening earlier today and thought “how is that not worth more?” It’s like lands necrotic ooze, it seems so good
I honestly use all of the gates in my Ur-dragon deck because having all the gates is the cheapest reliable 5 mana base I've ever tried. There are also a bunch of cards that go and find "Gates" whichever one you want which is usually Gond, Basilisk, or Baldur's and once you have gond they stop being tap lands. I don't run maze because my table doesnt like it but playing 5 color gate decks pretty much just made me never want to spend the money for a "good" 5 color mana base.
7:10 I have taken Revel in Riches out of my decks now because it is TOO good. It wins too easily anymore. I always thought 10 was a little low, but it has become trivial.

You say Pathbreaker Ibex was overlooked because Meren was terrorizing the format. But you see, I did my terrorizing *with* Pathbreaker Ibex *in* my Meren deck. (Golgari Germination, Awakening Zone, Endrek Sahr, Bloodspore Thrinax, Mycoloth, and Avenger of Zendikar made it a tokens deck. And I was often able to find my Mimic Vat for haste and additional recursion-- also at least once iced someone else's Ibex under it until I was set up for it myself)
Twinning staff fun fact sees each instance of 1 or more copies. So volo into spark double means 4 volos then next cast twin staff will copy each volo trigger separately.
I would like to make a shout out to Font of Agonies in any of your decks that likes to pay life. Beledros Witherbloom, Gix, or well, a ton of decks really. I just put one in my Erebos deck where I can pay two life and draw a card every time one of my creatures died and it ends up being a constant threat. When you have the economy of life gain and pay, its a super good card over time. In Beledros you can threaten to untapp your lands, pay ten and kill atleast two creatures!
Last time i played i drew a regular clone card and i chose to clone lotus cobra in that landfall deck. Worked out fine even though i couldn't clone the commander 😊
Another trick that you can do with Resourceful Defense is to have a sacrifice outlet for your planeswalkers. If someone is going to have a lethal swing or burn spell, you can just sac it and still move the counters.
What do you use as a sac outlet for planeswalkers? The only cards I can think of that can target planeswalkers are Despotic Scepter, Infernal Tribute, and Staff of Compleation.

Legends do not untap during their controllers’ untap phase. Particularly backbreaking if someone's running a 'legendary matters' deck or if you can help it along yourself.^^

I think more players are starting to realize that in Commander, you’ve got to squeeze more value out of every single card you play. The game has evolved so much that cards that were once staples, like Acidic Slime, are now struggling to keep up. It’s not a bad card-it’s just being severely outpaced by power creep. And I’m not just talking about other cards in the same slot that do the same job. I mean the whole idea of paying five mana for a "destroy something" effect attached to a creature. In today's meta, that feels underwhelming because so many cards are doing so much more. One card I’ve run for years-and I still think is criminally underappreciated-is Ashes to Ashes. Sure, it has limitations: it can’t hit artifacts or black creatures. But let’s be honest, there are plenty of juicy targets in the other four colors, and exiling two creatures for just three mana and five life? That’s an insane two-for-one deal. The life payment is nothing in Commander! As for Viridian Revel, Dana, I was surprised it didn’t get more attention earlier, too. When I started playing Commander, I was up against all kinds of artifact shenanigans-combo decks with Junk Diver, mono-red artifact toolbox strategies, and recursion loops. I ran Viridian Revel in those early decks because it punished those strategies so hard. For me, it might have been a meta call, but it’s only become more relevant with the explosion of treasure tokens in recent years. These days, it’s an auto-include in a lot of my decks-it just gets so much value.
I think it was a missed opportunity to not make "Nine-fingers Keene" a 5 colour commander. I use Idol of Oblivion in my edgar markov deck, it draws me a card almost every turn. hmmm.. would Mirran safehouse be good in Baba lysaga?
Can't believe that you forgot about the bounce lands. Back in the days the best thing you could do was pick up a cycle land. Nowadays with all these mdfc land and also the otawara and boseju in the world, they have gotten way better

Ivy is by far the most amazing and complicated commanders of the past year and I love it.
