    Thank you for the amazing analysis, Dr Aidan! Personally, these videos are the only ones that help with my essay writing as I prefer how you analyse quotes and link them to different parts of the play. Please could you make a few more on the themes and characters in Macbeth, A Christmas Carol and Lord of the flies?

      That is very kind of you to say. Thank you. I will put those on the list. I do have another video coming out this Sunday (12 Sept 2021) which I hope you find useful. It’s on The Lord of the Flies.

    Good to have an adult to help and guide young students through this work upon the somewhat guideless young.
    A line which has always stood out to me regards whether to blow the conch or not as the boys leave a meeting to get on an excited tear to have fun. Piggy encourages Ralph to blow and restore order. Ralph pauses to say, “If I blow the conch and they don’t come back, then we’ve had it.” This awareness of limits to authority is impressive in young Ralph. He is a mature leader - but without the previously existent choir/hunter army led by Jack.
    I am surprised that Jack did not display his knife before the vote for leader was taken. He does accept its decision, possibly due to his character of little interest in dealing with the little’ uns. Jack has his hunters and the beast which is also simply fear of the common enemy - conveniently provided by the downed pilot corpse. Golding defined the pilot’s arrival as ‘history’. It has always been there and, I suppose, a society maker.
    Born late in the post-war-baby-boom, I was lucky to tag along an older, well-read brother. I read the book at age 10. I recommend the film version of 1963 highly.

      Yeah to be fair the old british film of it was actually good especially compared to the American version in colour what hardly relates to the story and is just shit in every other way

    • @michaelemory552
      @michaelemory552 Рік тому

      @@pogchamp4209 I consider the color re-make to be typical, Hollywood hash. It is in color,… thumbs down. The technical issues and solutions make for a more interesting film atmosphere and Peter Brook followed the book very well. Two other stories/films for every eleven year old are Jack London’s ‘To Build a Fire’, and ‘ Incident at Owl Creek Bridge’ by Bierce. Tough, real-world stuff for budding brains.

    Good job! We do have a modern day version of Jack and Roger. Before any Trump supporters get mad at me, Donald Trump is like Jack and Rudy Guiliani is like Roger. I thought the storming of the capitol by those fools who followed Trump did mimic the hunting of Ralph and the cry of "Hang Mike Pence" was the same as "Kill the pig!"
