Man, the number of times I've watched one of your videos and discovered my new favourite cinematographer was someone I didn't even know existed before! It's crazy
Dude I’d love it if you did a second video on each of these cinematographers, just with one or two analyses of scenes or shots to get a feel for their choices and how they differ from film to film.
Absolutely great, thank you for making these videos! I already want videos about two cinematographers, but could you please do another video about Dion Beebe? Especially because of his work with Michael Mann, Miami Vice and Collateral, these movies and their cinematography have so much style!! But Beebe's other movies are well-shot, too. Thank you!
Just discovered this channel a week ago, it's become one of my favorite filmmaking resources. Keep up the excellent work! Have you done Rodrigo Prieto? I'd be interested to see a profile on him.
I love this series! Nice to see one about Miranda, cause I've heard much snob about his work. Could you do videos about John Seale and John Toll? Thanks a lot!
As always man great job I Trully enjoy your videos and they help a lot ! I wish you the best of Luck ! Could you please do a video about the cinematography of Larry smith and Tonino delli colli if you can one of these would be great thanks ! Look forward to your next video !
Hi Sareesh - thanks for this cinematographers-series - it´s outstanding! What is your opinion on Peter Biziou? A couple of films he made are visually so impressive.
Life of Pi was a 85% visual effects. Have you seen the footage before any vfx in Life of Pi? The decision and the work was done by the vfx artist on that film and Claudio Miranda got a nomination for best cinematography? The lighting and environments are mostly done in CG.
Yep, which is why he is despised by the Visual Effects community, ever since he wont that award at the Oscars, didn't mention the VFX department for their contributions to his "film".
Evan though the vfx did the rest of the image, it was in Miranda's mindset the how the look was suppose to be put together. So in the end, it is still his vision.
Captain Claire you don't have a clue about the difference between cinematography and visual effects and obviously you haven't an idea about how it works in the industry.
Could you please do the cinematography of Newton Thomas Sigel (The Usual Suspects, Three Kings, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, X-2, Drive and X-Men: Days of Future Past) ?
If I ever become something in the entertainment world. (Director, Writer, Cinematographer, etc) You bet your ass I'm gonna ask yah to come join me on a project. Haha. Keep on keepin on. Also, where can we see your work? I always see your work through your videos but only in small parts. Do you have another channel for that work? Would you consider posting your work to this channel?
He is a great Cinematographer, but every single shot that you showed on this video, is a Digital Effects shot, therefore, its a culmination of Matte Painting and CGI; hard to say what he shot on the set.
Cinematography is defined by how the subject matter is captured visually in terms of light, composition, and movement. In this regard, the method of how that subject matter is generated is irrelevant.
Peter Suschitzky!! The guy has a unique style that perfectly matches the eeriness of his prolific run of collaboration with David Cronenberg. And he made The Empire Strikes Back the best looking Star Wars film yet.
His work is amazing. Thanks for putting this together.
You're welcome!
Now Dave is here! Finally man, what took yah so long? Haha
Man, the number of times I've watched one of your videos and discovered my new favourite cinematographer was someone I didn't even know existed before! It's crazy

Have you done Rodrigo Prieto? I'd be interested to see a profile on him.
Thanks, he's on the list!
It’s pretty interesting that in almost all the movies you referenced here, the best thing about them is the visuals.
His night EXT's in Tron in the beginning were beautiful. Funny, I was more taken away by those shots than the scene's of actual Tron.
I love this series! Nice to see one about Miranda, cause I've heard much snob about his work. Could you do videos about John Seale and John Toll? Thanks a lot!
You're welcome, sure!

Yep, which is why he is despised by the Visual Effects community, ever since he wont that award at the Oscars, didn't mention the VFX department for their contributions to his "film".
He was asked by the production not to mention the vfx side of the film because they want to market it as "naturally" shot scenery.
Bronze King I didn't even bother to reply to her ignorant comment. This is a never ending fight.
Great video as always! Thanks for doing what you're doing!
0.59 - what movie is this!?
You're welcome!
Thanks for all your info on these cinematographers! Btw is John Seale on your list too?
You're welcome! Yes, he's on the list.
Videos about Dion Beebe and Dante Spinotti would be excellent! Uncover the secrets of Michael Mann's higher frame rate / shutter speed technique :')
Same
Could you please do the cinematography of Newton Thomas Sigel (The Usual Suspects, Three Kings, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, X-2, Drive and X-Men: Days of Future Past) ?

So great!

Videos about Vilmos Zsigmond, Adam Smith, Robert Burks, Stanley Cortez or Gregg Toland can be great !

Robbie Ryan ! Robbie Ryan ! Robbie Ryan
This guy is amazing, I just wish he picked better projects.
odd jobs??
He is a great Cinematographer, but every single shot that you showed on this video, is a Digital Effects shot, therefore, its a culmination of Matte Painting and CGI; hard to say what he shot on the set.
Life of Pie is not Cinematography it's green screen cgi.
Yawn.

Sam Shapson
And this is where he stands out. He is great at shooting actors in front of a believable CGI background
no.
Peter Suschitzky!! The guy has a unique style that perfectly matches the eeriness of his prolific run of collaboration with David Cronenberg. And he made The Empire Strikes Back the best looking Star Wars film yet.
