Great analysis! In retrospect with both of these teams making the 2nd round and JMU dominating Wisconsin it wasn't as much of a David vs. Goliath matchup. I figured most of the comments on here would be about the "small school" comment. JMU did have things rolling from 81-83 with wins against Notre Dame, Indiana and Georgetown in the NCAA first round. If it wasn't for a controversial late charge call in 1982 they could have knocked out the Michael Jordan, James Worthy and Sam Perkins UNC team to make the Sweet 16 and cost Dean Smith his first Championship. JMU also made some noise with Lefty Driesell during the 90s before falling onto hard times until now. With a new Basketball facility that even Rece Davis has said is special and all of the continued praise by Pat McAfee and others we hope JMU can be the next Gonzaga in Basketball and the next Boise State in Football.

@HoopsIQ ok I definitely agree w this, although Mark Byington and their new arena has definitely turned things around. They beat Virginia in 2021, although not at all a virginia at their best I think that win definitely marked a turn for the program. They should be the front runners for the sunbelt title and if they get in, they could definitely make a tournament run

JMU is not a small school lmao they have an enrollment of about 23,000 which is similar to UVA. Its also in the AP top 25 for football.
Small in terms of Basketball… JMU has only beat a ranked team 1 time before Michigan State.
