Based on Mr Wu's story, I have great hope that re-unification will be peaceful. US and West are too weak to defend its unofficial armed personnel on the Island. South Korea is too busy sorting out the obvious US interference in the current impeachment. Japan is too weak economically to send any armed assets for any real life engagement. Japanese Navy , Army, Air Force are well aware of the Chinese hatred of Japanese crimes on mainland.. Mainland China can wait unless provoked.. What can the West do??? The recent Taiwan blockade has already stopped the West from exercising 'Freedom of NAvigation' . Every Navy knows that Chinese Satettites can monitor all Maritime movement within a 200 +km zone in real time. There are so many ways China can deter. Even a simple swarm of 10000 commercial drones in the South China Sea will be saying something to the AUKUS, 5 Is, QUAD, extended NATO exercises. Meanwhile Chinese Navy gets a chance to study the movements. All is well.
