  • This is one of the biggest and most substantial funerals in history, with world leaders from all over the globe traveling to the UK to pay their respects. It has become increasingly apparent to me just how important a figure Queen Elizabeth was to so many people, and there could not be a more appropriate way to celebrate her life and legacy. I am looking forward to reacting and experiencing the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II for myself, and especially from my American perspective. If you enjoy my reaction feel free to leave a like, comment, or subscribe for more videos like this!

Unlike in the US, the UK military personal wear uniforms only when in the military. Once retired, you can wear your medals at any point you choose, but can only put your uniform back on with permission. There was no disrespect in denying Harry that privilege, unlike how it would seem to an American. There's just different traditions and rules over here.

My late father was in the Welsh Guards and he took part in the Coronation marching behind the state carriage. That day he marched from Earls Court to Buckingham Palace onto the Abbey and back again. My fondest memory of him is of him watching the Coronation Televised for Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee and pointing out to us his position in the ranks of the Guardsmen. Third man back in the left-hand rank and telling us his memories of that day. He met and married my mother three years later. It's been more than forty years since he passed away, I was twenty-two years old and now I am an old man. I have tears in my eyes knowing that once again my father is guarding our Queen.

The British Sovreign is the monarch of the UK (which includes Scotland). Also, the late Queen loved Scotland and bagpipes. She had a personal bagpiper and she'd wake to the sound of bagpipes every morning as her bagpiper would play outside her window. The ceremony ended with him playing a final farewell as he walked away from her coffin. Beautiful and heartbreaking.

She is descended from James I who had been King of Scotland and inherited the Crown of England on the death of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603. King James directly descended from Robert the Bruce 13th century and in turn from David I, King of Scots ( 12th century ) and Kenneth I ( 9th century ). Scottish roots are very deep.

The Pipes and Drums were played for a few reasons. First is a military reason, pipes are almost always part of military ceremonies in the UK and even the wider Commonwealth at large. With the Queen being CoC of the Armed Forces, this falls under that purvue. Second, the Queens family on her mothers side were Scottish. It's actually been argued that she's the most Scottish monarch since Charles I who was born in Scotland to James VI of Scotland, who then became James I at the union of the Crowns. Third reason is purely the fact she picked all the music and readings performed on the day herself, and she was well known to love the Pipes and Drums, and being in Scotland in general. Lastly and most simply... Scotland is part of the UK, forgetting everything else I said before, honestly, thats reason enough.

Tyler, you skipped through all of the best parts. You skipped past the Archbishop of Canterbury, using his speech to admonish the bad world leaders, using the Queens’s reign as an example of good leadership. Telling them to the faces. Something the people is countries like Saudi Arabia would end up tortured in prison for doing, or dead.
You also missed the ‘full version’ of the British National anthem, written for trumpet and church organs, which is very rarely played, which has both the first and second verses of the National Anthem, which you probable have not heard before. Something you are not likely to hear again, apart from this recording. It’s starts just after the fanfare following the 2 minutes silence, which you skipped past.
You then skipped past all of the people lining the streets on the journey of the hearse car to Windsor Castle.
You also skipped too far forward, and missed the point where the Queen, becomes a woman’ against, when her Royal Regalia is removed from her coffin and she officially ceases to me the monarch. You see the ‘crown powers’ being taken away from her. You watched the end of it, starting with the sceptre being placed on the High Alter. But missed that start of it.

It's called an Abbey because it use to be attached to a monastery, before Henry VIII dissolved it in 1539. Edward the Confessor began building it in 1042. Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all coronations of English and British monarchs have occurred in Westminster Abbey. Sixteen royal weddings have occurred at the Abbey since 1100. There were 2000 people in attendance (the max capacity). The man walking in after Princess Anne was her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. You can see representatives from all the other royal houses there as well; Kings and Queens or (Crown Prince) of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, as well as some now defunct royal houses. The service itself is an Anglican service, since the Queen was the Head of the Church of England.

It has been an unprecedented couple of weeks and we can only describe it as losing a grandmother, she was always there and never put a foot wrong and so many wonderful stories have been told from her staff and security which we have loved hearing. I sat like the whole of the UK and watched from 10am until 6pm and found it so moving, what's 8 hours of sitting when she gave us 70yrs and I'd do it all again. Every member of the UK can be very proud of themselves yesterday they were respectful and courteous to one another and as a nation we were as one, saying goodbye to our Queen.

The Bearer Party are my heroes from all of this. Honestly …. They had THE most important duty, the most nerve wracking duty, and the most intimate duty throughout all the proceeding of the 11 days leading up to the funeral and the internment at Windsor. My heart was in my mouth EVERY time they had to move the casket. And the stairs!! SO MANY STAIRS!!! Whyyyy so many stairs 😩lol. They were superb. They were impeccable. So many important eyes on them. And the body of their Queen, The Boss. I mean ….. IMO no one had to endure more pressure than these fine young soldiers. I really hope they get special commendation for their service. I know it’s an honour and they would never think of it any other way, but I for one cannot express enough my gratitude at how they conducted such a deeply moving and important duty and want them to be recognized for it. Also, the British Monarch is the Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England, so yes, it’s always going to be a Christian service. I understand you couldn’t watch the whole thing especially for a reaction video, but honestly, there is SO much history, symbolism, so many touching and meaningful aspects and details to the entirety of what happened. I mean, the flowers at Windsor, her pony Emma waiting at the side of the drive, her corgis …. The King saluting the cenotaph as they processed past …. All the symbolism in the details of the internment …. Augh. Just so much to absorb. It’s going to take me days or maybe weeks to just let it all settle. I’ll never forget this event so long as I live. I wish more of our society still valued tradition and symbolism etc this much. I know it can be oppressive but if done well, it just brings so much depth and meaning to the rhythms and seasons of life.

Her Late Majesty was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). This is a full State Funeral, the first since that of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965 and has been planned in minute detail for many years. Westminster Abbey has been the place where our Kings and Queens have been crowned since that of William The Conqueror on Christmas Day 1066. The Queen was crowned here in 1953 and the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III is likely to take place there next year. The King is, like is late mother Head of the Church of England and the Kings and Queens have been since Henry VIII split from the Church of Rome in 1534. The Orb and Sceptre are given to the Sovereign during the Coronation. Westminster Hall dates back to the reign of King William II in 1097 and is the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster which includes the Houses of Parliament. The Abbey was built between 1042 and 1052 by King Edward The Confessor. St George’s Chapel was started in 1475. The Crown Jewels (the Imperial State Crown, the Orb and Sceptre) are returned to the vault in the Tower of London where they will go back on display to the public. The full regalia will be used during His Majesty’s Coronation. Her Majesty was temporarily laid to rest in the Royal Vault before a private burial with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh in the King George VI Memorial Chapel which took place at 7:30 pm last night which was only attended by her close family.

The reason for the Royal Navy pulling the Gun Carriage is during Queen Victoria's funeral the Horses bolted and were replaced by Royal Navy Officers, less likely to bolt. Tradition has been continued. The Victorians tidied up the service and embellished it, as now it is rehearsed. Also over not just millions but 5.1 billion people watched the funeral across the globe thats over 61% of the entire worlds population!!! here are a couple facts for you about the casket. The queens casket was built 30 years ago using all english oak, it is also fully lead lined and without the queen within it it weighed just over 250kg and when she was in it will have weighed over 300kg. all the young men carrying it should be extremely proud of themselves for how carefully, respectfully and gracefully they went about their duty, they did her proud!

I watched from 5.30am. Biden was late and had to wait. Queen was a stickler for time. It was so emotional so sad so proud of all our armed services for their honour to the Queen. The lowering of the coffin and the lone piper is heartfelt

    RIP Your Majesty.

I viewed every minute broadcast through the whole week because I loved Her Late Majesty, and because from the time when I was a child, I have absorbed every major historical event. Every moment was meaningful and special. It was good to re-visit this with you, Tyler. I was not aware of your internet presence at the time, or, I would likely have joined you then. I hope that at some point, if you have not, will take the time to watch and take in the whole of the proceedings. It would be quite an undertaking, but I believe it important to fully absorb our history in order to become our fullest selves. I pray that you are well. After watching so many of your videos at this point, while I don't, I kind of feel that I know you. Weird, that. Peace

I know you can’t watch it all but You skipped past 2 of the most solemn parts of the day at Westminster abbey the queens piper playing “sleep dearie sleep” and then at Windsor chapel the queens piper playing the final lament.
Those two moments are extra special because the queens piper woke her up every morning and then he played her to her final rest.

Appreciate that you covered edited highlights in your reaction video, but just to say, the procession from Westminster Abbey to the Wellington Arch was truly magnificent and you skipped pretty much all of that.
You also mentioned near the end of your video that some Americans wondered if this was more 'a front' rather than real. I can assure you that [as you yourself have understood] for the majority of UK people (and around the Commonwealth / beyond) this was a heartfelt loss - the numbers of people who paid their respects, the people who have memories or connections to the Queen, the exemplary discipline and sheer excellence of our armed forces - made me and I'm sure millions of British people extremely proud that the Queen's passing has been honoured in this way. Not to mention the Royal Family and how perfectly they conducted themselves at this difficult time for them.
You would surely have a heart of stone if you did not have a tear in your eye at the final piper's playing as he slowly left the chapel.
    Regards, John (UK)

The funeral was a precision operation between all the Armed Forces of the U.K. and Commonwealth and the Police and Spy’s! It ran without a hitch!!! Her Majesty would be very pleased with the whole day!! The piper at the end got me. Prince George and Princess Charlotte walked behind their Gan-Gans casket. They did her proud today!! Our Queen can trace her lineage back in Scotland her mother was a Scot she loves Scotland!!

Her Queen Mother's father was a Scot, but her mother was English and she was born in England. That makes her more English that Scottish. The Queen could trace her lineage back to many places - including the Tudors, from who she is directly descended.

I always said, that the Queen is respected by everyone all over the world. Her funeral proves just how much reach she had around the world and the people who wanted to pay their last farewell to her. Only a few months ago the national anthem was beingg booed. I don't know how long it will last, but the last match we had, people were proud to sing it for their country. The Queen resided a lot in Scotland and she loved the bag pipes. Her alarm in the morning was to be woken by the sound of someone playing the bagpipes in the morning. Harry stepped down from Royal Duty when he decided to move to America. He wanted to be a part time royal but the Queen said the service to the Queen isn't part time. He either does it full time or not at all. So he made the decision to move to America. He was allowed to wear his uniform when he partook in the Queen lying in state, as was his Uncle Prince Andrew. The King allowed it as it was honoring The Queen and protecting her coffin. That is the only time both were allowed to wear full military regalia. Pretty sure when King Charles III dies, Prince William would probably allow Harry to wear the uniform again.

The Queen was the Head of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith. She was deeply religious as was her funeral. She planned the service with the former Archbishop of York, John Sentamu. She didn’t want the service to be too long and depressing. I think she struck the right chord. It was simply beautiful.

Hey Tyler, I live in Windsor and as you can imagine it's been an emotional time here! It's great to see you take such an interest and learning the history surrounding the royals. To me, the Queens death doesn't feel like losing a family member, it feel's like losing a part of my national identity, part of me feels missing now which I was not expecting to feel to be honest. She was a great head of state and did all of us proud! One of my favourite moments was her funny skit with Prince Harry and the Obamas doing the "mic drop", I was wondering if you've seen that before?

That choir song when the coffin is brought in, makes me cry because it's so evocative and moving. It reminds me of my Beloved Maternal Grandparents joint-funeral (March 9th 2021) i lost my grandparents to the Coronavirus pandemic in late January 2021. You did really well picking out the key parts of the day. The coffin was lowered to a 'large basement level'. I saw a 3-D render of the vault chapel below where the Royal Family gathered for a final private service before the Queen's coffin was moved into the Royal Vault itself alongside her late husband Prince Philip, duke of Edinburgh, her father, King George VI, her late sister Princess Margaret and I believe her late mother, The Queen Mother. The Royal Vault must clearly be quite large.
Good job Tyler and thank you for another very respectful video reaction. Hope you can visit the UK 🇬🇧 someday and perhaps visit Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle in person.
Both buildings are around 1000 years old.

I do know that there is one particular bagpipe player that does a solo for the Queen. His job was to be her human alarm clock. That was his job. He played starting at 9a and played until exactly 9:15. Let me stress this EVERY SINGLE DAY he did this. Fun fact for the day!
