Love it, small companies innovating at a crazy speed nowadays. Gone are the days thirdparty lenses were cheap but shit, or cheap because they were manual focus only, and all of them copied the OEM versions. We've seen companies come out of nowhere with innovative lenses, filling out niches that were ignored by OEM manufacturers. Love it.
Always entertaining to watch your videos, even if they’re not lenses I’d need or buy. I like the balance of humor, honesty and photographic experience. Keep killin it, man!
That lens has some of the best balls I’ve ever seen at that price point. I really like the shape and overall look of them. How about the Viltrox and Meike? Do they have nice balls too?
I love to see those budget lenses performing very well. but I think manufacturers like Sony would punish us customers like they do already with "active" SteadyShot or breathing compensation. it is only available with these nativ Sony lenses..... I see more of those options to catch us buying the "original" lenses.
is there a brightness difference between viltrox and ttartisan. beteween the 1.7 and the 1.8. and are there any disadvantages for the viltrox expect the price?
the sigma is great - but this lens is a bit better with chromatic aberration. It's also much smaller. But it's a 1.8 instead of a 1.4. The Sigma will be slightly sharper as well. I will say it's usually easier to have the same lens when switching angles
You nailed it on the focus breathing. On my viltrox 23mm f1.4 is virtually non existent making it ideal for video/hybrid work. For that reason I would pay the extra $50 and opt for the Viltrox 35mm but I am indeed impressed with the ttartisans for the price
Aw man. I need what I can do with Magic Lantern especially the useful edge-detect focus assisting and being compact with EOS M, best option for me to use one of these with?
I have a Sony a6000 with 50 mm 1.8f FE. I am planning to sell it and buy the TTartisan 35 mm 1.8 ii . Is it a good decision, considering I am more into street photography and occasional portrait photography?
Thank you for another great review! As a newbie to cameras (zv-e10 & zv1 m2), you are definitely helping my decision making, when it comes to lenses. I am leaning to the Meike f1.4, but which would be good for low light video and pictures (f1.4 or f1.7 or f1.8)?
Hi, don't mind the price difference but which should i buy for the performance or the sharpness and AF this ttartisan 35mm 1.8 or viltrox 35mm 1.7 for my sony a6000? Thank you. 😊
All these nice lenses coming out, recently bought viltrox 24mm f1.8 FE for 200 euro brand new, and sadly that was all I had of my spare money :D, it is perfect for my dinky a6000. Would love a decent cheapish telephoto lens, and I was also eyeing the older 35mm viltrox, but this one seems better. But then again Viltrox released the 35 f1.7 as well AAAA choices
Hello Mark.. love your videos 🙂 it convinced me to buy the zv-e10 lol.. but I'm wondering.. why no Sony E 35mm F1.8 review? What are your thoughts on this lens?? Thanks 😊 a follower from Saudi Arabia.. peace.
If you are talking about the 35mm 1.8 OSS APS-C lens - I don't review it because it was released a very long time ago and it's showing it's age now. You can se on Arthur R's page he has compared it to the newer lenses and it is not holding up.
Im loving all these budget apsc lenses... I hear a rumour Viltrox have a 23 or 25mm F1.7 coming out very soon.. now that is one I really want as it will give us 35mm equivalent
Great video, how does it compares to Yongnuo 16mm f1.8 , in your older video you compared it to sigma , i am planning to get one of these two tt artisan or Yongnuo
new to photography, bought my camera second hand, 6400 w/30mm Sigma lens is there any reason for me to upgrade from 30mm to 35mm ? there is so much I get confused about. love the videos, id be lost without them as I slowly learn.
Where is the 20-25mm!!!! We need some love in this range. Make it 20 f1.8 smaller than what Sony has for full frame. Will be much appreciated for active steady shot crop factor equals roughly to 35mm full frame. Sony E desperately needs this! I know you guys read these comments! (Mark, where's my heart? lol)
what is the best budget 35mm f1.8 lens for full frame cameras? APSCs always comes affordable. I should have purchased the Sony FX30 instead went for Sony ZV-E1 ☹
nice, picked up one up, YN and meike 2x the price, sounds like this one is about 95% the performance for 45% of the price. BTW, why can't these makers do lens stabilization on their lenses, is it the engineering they haven't figured out, or a licensing thing?
I'm pretty tired of lumix not dropping the price on their portrait lenses... Auto focus and rendering is fast becoming irrelevant, even within the OEM MFT line up.
Whoever sees this. Do not buy a rf mount canon camera. You dont get lenses like this and only expensive overpriced glass from canon or sigma. Can't play around with cheap lenses like this just as a little fun hobby.
I returned my first edition of this lens. Pretty sure I had a bad copy. Bad focus and noise. Their 56mm one is stellar though, so I’ll for sure try again when / if I’m in the market for something they are offering.
Many of my clients complain that the Videos shot with new generation SONY alpha cameras cause more eye strain leading to puffy and swollen under eyes. Videos shot with SONY ZV 1 cause absolutely no eye strain but rest of the newly launched alpha cameras cause severe eye strain. SONY should try to fix this problem. We understand SONY wants its footage to look cinematic but that seems to be the cause of the problem. Hope SONY CORP. takes this concern with good spirit.

Exactly why I’m in the process of migrating from Canon to Sony as we speak! 🙌
Competition is a wonderful thing.

Excellent review and yeah, TTArtisans is crushing it lately for sure! $125 is insane for this kind of quality build, IQ, and AF....
really is!!
We need full frame lenses Ttartisans!!
Second that!
I’d like more from TTartisans too, but their F2 70mm Full Frame for e-mount is solid for the money 👍🏼
And L mount!
I'm still waiting for a lens that truly captures your inner darkness.
Watch out for my review of the Beelzebub 35mm 1.8 coming soon

they’ve all got nice balls
I just got the TTartisan 27mm f/2.8 and the Viltrox 35mm f/1.7 and it is just insane how good they are for the price
Curious to know how this compares to the Sigma 30mm 1.4
I’m looking for a new 50 mm with a slightly closer focusing distance than the Sony 50 mm 1.8. I’m going to search out TTartisans and some others.
This is pretty cool. We're still giving up IS but this is a good price. Next, I want to to see a 35mm AF f1.4 for TTArtisan or 7Artisans!!!

Too many nifty 50mm FF equivalent. Need more 27mm APSC lenses!
is there a brightness difference between viltrox and ttartisan. beteween the 1.7 and the 1.8. and are there any disadvantages for the viltrox expect the price?
So do you use a prime lens typically in your talking Head studio shots?
yea, usually a 15 mm 1.4 or 16mm 1.4 from sigma on Apsc or a 24mm if using a full frame camera
How would you compare this to the Sigma 30mm in your experience? I have one currently and am considering another one for a second studio angle.
the sigma is great - but this lens is a bit better with chromatic aberration. It's also much smaller. But it's a 1.8 instead of a 1.4. The Sigma will be slightly sharper as well. I will say it's usually easier to have the same lens when switching angles

Hi there Mark.
Yep, I have a 24mm Viltrox lens that is also very good on focus breathing. Near 0 focus breathing.
competence is beautiful, we consumers win
I wish I could also watch you comedy special or something. You always make me laugh with your jokes, Sir! :D
is this a wild lense ? sorry im new to this

Viltrox already has the 23mm f1.4 apsc

Which ones are weather sealed? Have a gasket?
Only the Meike 33 1,4 has a gasket out of the three mentioned
of these three I believe only the Meike has one.
do you think the sony 35mm 1.8 with oss is better than this ttartisan just because it has oss?
sony 35 is softer, it's an old lens, this is better.
Nice compact lens
Can this lens only be updated via Windows? Or is there support for Mac users now?
Only windows, unfortunately - I am writing them to hurry up with the Mac
Hoping this is a step closer to getting a fast, cheap zoom.
Great video, how does it compares to Yongnuo 16mm f1.8 , in your older video you compared it to sigma , i am planning to get one of these two tt artisan or Yongnuo
a 35 is much tighter than a 16. I would get a 16mm if you want a talking head shot like my youtube videos
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis In terms of sharpness, autofocus speed and abbreviations how do these compare

No! Your sigma is better - no need to worry about this one
That sigma is great - keep it
No L mount support?
no, L-mount doesn’t let some of these companies in - plus this is APSC and there aren’t any Apsc lmount cameras
please review the new Viltrox 25mm air series for Nikon Z mount
I am using Canon R50. If I get an adaptor ef to rf can I use this lens?
no, they don’t have it for EF either. Canon is still not allowing most companies to make lenses
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for the response
Def an amazing lens gotta get that lol
a bonkers value!!

TTArtisan's 23m f1.8 is already on sale for Fuji, and Viltrox has announced their 25mm f1.7.
Sir can i expect 6900 this year so i can get a 6700?
I don’t know if anything is coming, but the a6700 is brand new so it’s safe to buy. Sony has never put that camera on sale s of yet.
The A6400 came out in 2019, the successor to that is A6700 which came out in 2023, so there was like a 4 year gap. I'd say wait a few more years.
what is the best budget 35mm f1.8 lens for full frame cameras? APSCs always comes affordable. I should have purchased the Sony FX30 instead went for Sony ZV-E1 ☹
there are good value full frame lenses too. look at the Viltrox 40mm 2.5. amazing full frame lens for $180

I've not been impressed with tt artisan lenes. If they made an auto focus 11-16mm wide angle at that price, I might be tempted to buy one.
I got this mark2 for $75 lol. What beast lense for its price
wow!!
Now, what's the catch? Sounds too good to be true.
Although with 3rd party lenses I already know sometimes it CAN be just that good (Tamron 18-300).
a lens like this is pretty cheap to make. and focus motors have gotten a lot better.
These third party brands need to come up with some zoom and tele lenses…..
That would be awesome.
Surely a plastic lens is more likely to float in a boat than a metal one?
one would think!! new video. which one boat floats
Bro I JUST bought the 40mm f2.
Now Sony/Sigma, release yours F1.4 already 😂
We need this for FF

I wish I could focus on the lens, but having such a b-e-a-utiful specimen in the frame is distracting me!!🎉🎉
don’t blame yourself 🤣🤣
All these 35s and the only two small 27mm were a bit disappointing. Still waiting for a small 27mm similar to what Fuji has
On Fuji the XC35mm f/2 is so much better than this lens. Really good IQ and is not much more expensive.
