Key loves your mum. Regarding toast, I think it's more important to him that your mum shares with him than he get a big portion. Even if she just gives a token amount he feels better because he knows he is included in sharing the food on hand. It makes him feel more secure as a member of the group if he gets a share. Everyone likes to feel included.
