Have one like yours. At first it was loud and ran a lot. Finally figured out we were cutting off its breathing. We had to move it out from our wall and not have anything blocking its air circulation. It worked. Maybe your enclosure is stopping its air circulation. Just a thought. That would maybe causing its overworking.
Your fridge never stops running because when you built a box around it you eliminated the air flow so your fridge motor is constantly hot. You need to move your fridge away from the back wall a few inches and not have it completely enclosed. Your fridge is working overtime trying to stay at the right temperature inside.
@@jillcooper172 it may be too close to the back wall or it’s a mechanical issue. Building a box around a fridge is a bad idea, it will always trap heat, overwork the motor, and will wear the fridge out sooner.
I love my Whirlpool Conquest side by side refrigerator. It is at least 20 years old and is still reliable and quiet. Indeed a keeper! Mine has a small rectangular vent on the wall of the refrigerated interior. Make sure not to block the air flow of that vent. As for me, I 💖my wonderful Whirlpool refrigerator.
I would also stay away from Samsung. We had a French door with 2 drawers. We had to have the ice maker fixed. It’s the way they are being made. The repair guy told us there isn’t enough insulation between the ice maker and the refrigerator area. He said LG is the same way. My guess is almost anything made today isn’t made to last! I hope you’re liking Wyoming! We moved from Cheyenne over 32 years ago because of the weather. We moved to Florida and we have loved it! Love both of your channels! I’ve used your fudge recipe for 2 years now. They are the best when it comes to easy!
Whirlpool makes Maytag, Amana, and KitchenAid appliances. My mother in law retired from a Whirlpool factory recently after 30 years. She talks about how much quality has changed over the years. They went from making almost everything in house to now almost everything is outsourced and now its "assembled in America" where many years ago it was "made in America." So just keep in mind they own many brands.
My sister bit the bullet and bought a Bosch dishwasher; who knows how many years ago. She is very pleased with it AND it coordinated with the color scheme. She would have bought it had it not coordinated.
@ALETA-SUE My sister got her dishwasher probably 20 years ago, give or take, or so. She was considering a Boch fridge... Apparently there are/ were more than one type (I never knew what she meant by this; maybe more commercial like versus more residential. ), very expensive, another brand or two in that class, and for whatever reason she wasn't settled on the Boch fridge. At the time she also already had what appeared to be a well functioning fridge so, she kept with what she had. She still has what she had and it is also still a well functioning fridge. 5 plus years ago she was considering a fridge update to something "more energy efficient" and with minimal exploration decided to keep with what she has because it has no digital displays and presumably fewer chips to go wrong. She rationalized that in terms of environmentally friendly, her rational for upgrading, she would be better off keeping what she has until it dies rather than replacing it with a more chip driven fridge every 5 to 10 years; its also less cash outlay. At the same time she ROUGH estimated her existing fridge's electrical use versus some of the feature rich nicer fridges to discover her's uses less electricity over all. Features use electricity and she has no desire to have a smart home.
@@terryhenderson424 We tend to follow the rule "don't replace it until it's broken" as well. I'm glad to hear your sister's Bosch dishwasher is going so well.
My advice is to find a 1950’s, 60’s fridge. I’ve heard a bunch of problems of several appliances. Why does it matter that they match???? Working is #1😉.
@ no more than the one she’s got. She said it rarely shuts off! Besides we’ve been lied to about energy efficiency…..our electric bill has only gone up in our 47 years of marriage, and everything we use is “supposed “ to be energy efficient. Lies lies and never ending lies.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents - I live in a rural area and my LG frig failed. Called about 10 repair shops in my county and the neighboring 2 counties. No one would service my LG. I picked their brains a bit and the repair guys said that no one will service LG and Samsung - and to avoid these brands. Ended up buying a Whirlpool frig -- very happy. Wishing you the best - love your sweet family! ❤
I bought a Washing Machine in March and chose Whirlpool cause the salesman at Lowe’s said we would not have any luck finding someone to fix an LG which is what I wanted. My Whirlpool washer broke on Dec 12, only 9 months old. It was under warranty but I did purchase the extended warranty plan when calling customer service to get it fixed!
The plywood enclosure that the refrigerator is placed in, does a few negative things. The tight surrounding enclosure creates over-heating due to less than desired air flow ventilation, shorter over-all life-cycle due to much longer run times because of excessive heat build up while running, and greater sound amplification, similar to a boom box bass speaker's enclosure designed to amplify sound.
Get an older (white) Frigidaire (maybe newer if made in US?). They run well, not a lot of noise. Only kind have had for decades. If you enclose it in any box, be sure to leave the lower half in the back with a big cut out opening and keep in at least an inch, ideally two inches, from the wall for proper air circulation & good motor life cycle. All these other models have too many issues. Got my 1st Frigidaire from Sears - the best. Use that noisy one in your basement. Good Luck. Will give a great review on your e-cook look as soon as I get more time! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Sending Many Blessings
We just bought an LG despite the issues. It’s a French door. We got rid of a 2005 whirlpool side by side. It was very quiet but ice dispenser was worn out. The shelves were so cheap I’ve replace a repaired most and I was tired of things falling behind in the back b/c the shelves don’t go all the way back. . We haven’t had the LG very long so can’t testify on quality. It fit in the space we have.
I've never had a Bosch refrigerator but their dishwasher is the best one I've ever had. I would recommend going with the Bosch and just having One stainless steel appliance.
When Bosch came into our area- we remodeled our old kitchen and loved our Bosch appliances- when they worked correctly. We had the ovens, cooktop and dishwasher. Had to replace the dishwasher 2x in a year and had the cooktop worked in that year on to the point it was considered a lemon and replaced. The ovens never gave me trouble and cooked perfectly- until the door broke. (That was my fault but my awesome husband fixed it!) Would I do it all again? I didn’t when we built our house. But we’ve replaced GE and Samsung stuff more and Bosch worked better when they worked. It’s exhausting. If I could afford to throw them all out and replace with Bosch right now- I probably would.
I have a frigedare and had it for years no problem. I had a side by side doors previously and hated them. I got just a regular one this time. Our went out the week of Christmas 20 years ago and we got this one and no problem.
I have had a French door LG since July, 2015. No problems and I can open either door without having to open both. I would recommend. It has ice dispenser in door and everything works great.
We have an LG side by side refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser. It is extremely quiet, and we have an open concept house. We can't hear it running at all. On occasion, if the ice container is empty, you may hear ice dump in the container but rarely have that issue. We have owned LG for years without issues. I highly recommend it.
If I had a fridge like Yours with all the problems I would not be passing it on to someone else to deal with I would just eat the loss and junk it. Or if I was unhappy with it I would use it in a garage or basement. Thanks for Sharing.
It is like they were saying though, if it was in a kitchen that wasn't in an open concept room but an enclosed room the noise wouldn't be a problem as much so it could just work great for someone else.
If it is the refrigerator itself that is causing the problem, then there is something wrong with it. Imagine how loud it would be in a confined kitchen space! I wouldn't want it in my kitchen either! It may be about to go out if it is making that much noise.
❤️ We went through 3 LG refrigerators. Now we have a BOSCH. Hubby got one that has 2 compressors - one for fridge area & a separate one for the freezer area. His opinion is that a refrigerator with just one compressor has to work harder to try and regulate the temperature in both the refrigerated area and the freezer area. Now, it is a French door style. I don’t know if they make it in other styles with two compressors or not? It’s not loud, at least not to me. I don’t know if they make it in white either…When we were looking for a refrigerator, we asked a salesman and he said he could not recommend any brand anymore. Because of all of the government regulations and controls on them, environmental crap, they can’t make them like they used to, meaning the ones that would last forever are not made anymore. ❤
The government regulations have ruined everything. It's impossible to find a washer that uses enough water to clean clothes today. Or a toilet that doesn't require two flushes to clean or a shower head that gives you enough water to have enough water to feel good. These things aren't really saving water because we have to use twice as much
Yet another example of government over reach ruining everything. They think it's better for the environment to constantly replace everything. I think we should know exactly what is in their portfolios.
We bought a whirlpool a year ago. We sent two back to one store as they were dented upon delivery. Gave up on that store. Then bought through the second store. Sent the first one back, dented upon arrival. They sent a "store manager" with the refrigerator to make sure it was not dented or scratched. It is working well but when the ice drops you would think someone is shooting at your home. Good luck.
Moved into a home with a 7 year old LG French door fridge. Ice maker is dead and compressor went out this year. Called LG, they approved the parts to repair it but not the labor. Cost $400 but way cheaper than a new one. Also appliance repair guy said water hose to ice maker has a kink so they ALL eventually ice over and break the mechanism. He also said fridges need 4 inches around them for air flow. Most built in fridges are a tight squeeze in new kitchens (that was ours) so he suggested cutting a vent on the side. Thankfully ours is at the end of our kitchen so we cut a small air duct cover size at the bottom for airflow. Best of luck!
Mine is 38 yrs old and if it goes out now l will give it a loving pat and say "well done my friend".😅 It's an Amana. Don't understand why people think appliances have to match. But then again l was raised where a kitchen was a work room and not making a fashion statement.
I like GE. That's what this apartment included. I've been here since 2010; I was the 3rd waive. My freezer does not have an ice maker. I have to make ice the old-fashioned way.
I had a Frigidaire and it worked great. I just replaced it because it was 16 yrs old and I didn't want it to die on me with no new one in sight. I now have a french door Kenmore. I love it except for the ice maker tubing had to be replaced for leaking. My Kenmore is gray/stainless and it is very quiet.
Kenmore is not good. I bought one three years ago with our new house and it's been a PITA for two years now, just as soon as it went out of warranty. Good luck finding parts if it breaks. Kenmore brand name was bought by Daewoo and they don't make parts for Kenmore appliances. My fan broke and I cannot even replace it. A part that would just cost $4 cannot be replaced and my $3000 fridge is a hunk of junk.
We have an LG French door that we bought a few years ago. One side has dark glass that if you knock on glass you can see what's inside without opening door. That's okay. A couple of months after purchasing it stopped working. Turns out we had a separate surge protector and LG fridge has it's own surge protector so it caused the ridge to stop. All has been well since. It is quiet and overall I'm happy with it. I have a Bosch dishwasher that I love. Bes dishwasher I have ever had. There is a You tube channel called Faith and Flour. Robin just remodeled her kitchen. She has a Bosch fridge. Hope you get a better fridge and all goes well. Wishing you both a Happy New Year!
I just bought a Frigidaire. Side by side to replace one that I had for 20+ years. They improved the ice machine design only thing I ever had trouble with in my old one. I’ve had the new one 6 months and absolutely love it. Lowe’s had the white one in stock and delivered within two days.
I have an LG that I like very much. One single door on top and freezer drawer on bottom. Stainless steel and I love it. No problem and I've had it about 2 years
I just purchased a GE Profile a couple months ago for $2900 which includes tax and a 3 year extended warranty. It’s really quiet and doesn’t run constantly. I love it! I researched refrigerators extensively (also read comments) before making my decision. Yes, it was expensive but sometimes you get what you pay for. God bless you and your family.
We have Hisense, no ice maker. Paid around $1000. Great refrigerator, no noise period. So quiet you wonder if it's on. No frills. It's just a basic fridge. Fridge on top, one door...freezer on bottom. No regrets. Had fancy Samsungs, TV screen etc. Wouldn't trade my Hisense for any other. From super fancy to basic...in love with basic. They did have white when we bought ours at Lowe's. Best of luck.
Love love LG - best appliances on the market in my opinion - recently sold our home and bought a new one and was not happy about having to leave my LG appliances behind. We recently just purchased a new LG French door and you can open either door without having to open both. We had a Bosch dishwasher in our new house and I prefer my LG we had at our old house. We have the front load LG washer and dryer and love them as well.
I just bought a LG bottom freezer fridge. Love it. Came from Home Depot. On my case they were great. FYI - my ice maker is internal and we don’t have water hooked up so ice maker is turned off.
The other day, you used left over pot roast to make soup. Brilliant idea! I added bullion and cream to a roast in the refer and made the most delicious soup ever! It was ready in minutes and delicious! Thanks for the idea. So glad I vacuum sealed and froze a bunch of chuck roasts when it was $4/lb. It's $6/lb now if you're lucky!
We have an LG side by side, had it about 6 years or so now. It's quiet, cannot hear it running. Shuts off when it's supposed to. Love it. No issues with it. I have no idea about the Bosch ?? brand. This is our second LG. The old one had a bottom freezer that would not drain correctly and we had to manually every week get the sheet of ice out from under the freezer basket. That was TOO much, so we got a side by side about 6 years or so ago. Our ice maker stops when it's supposed to LOL. If you can get another fridge, it sounds like it would be worth it for the quiet and peace of mind. Just don't get a bottom freezer! :)
My new fridge is a whirlpool side by side with no water or ice dispenser. It doesn't run all the time and it's not overly loud. Appliances in Canada can be made by different companies then the U.S. Whirlpool also makes kitchen aid, Maytag and a few others.
Amana too. Funny Amana used to be the top of the refrigerator food chain until Whirlpool bought them. Such a shame what happened to the appliance industry.
Bought a regular sized FRIGIDAIRE and had the motor shut down a week before the warranty expired. Luckily had a repairman who taught me some basic fridge tips to keep it going {keep it clean, do not over stuff freezer section{-bought a small stand alone freezer 2019} and the importance of avoiding fancy refrigerators. 10 years later the replacement motor still doing the job.
We had an LG with French doors for 5 years and the compressor went. We did buy a 2nd LG 2 years ago because we thought they fixed that issue. Time will tell if it lasts more than 5 years. It is very quiet and the French doors on our current one don’t need to be opened in a certain order. We really like this one.
I have a GE french door and its very quiet, with no problems. It does have an ice maker, but i turned it off. I didn't want to replace filters and ice makers are prone to leak. I really like the French door style with the freezer at the bottom. Check out the GE, they have several models, but i really like the French door style and it's very convenient for us.
We have a 27 year old GE fridge. All my appliances are white( some are new). Fridge is starting to give problems. Husband found a white GE side by side. You can find white appliances, but they are more expensive than stainless, etc. We have had good luck with our GE appliances, so you might look into those.
I have a GE SS fridge with the freezer on top, glass shelves. I've NEVER heard the motor running. My daughter had a Whirlpool microwave & the buzzer was loud enough to wake the dead. They were so happy that it finally stopped working & they bought a GE
I love love my LG refrigerator ,dishwasher, stove and microwave. I have the finger printless stainless steal. I had an Amana French Door, the compressor went and I woke up to my kitchen flooded. My downstairs ceiling got damaged. The microwave also Amana the door handle broke off and we had to super glue it because Amana wouldn't replace it. The dishwasher also Amana the motor went. The appliances were only 3 yrs old. My LG appliances I've had now for 3 years and not one issue. My gas stove is also an LG... love love love it. The dishwasher and refrigerator are pretty much silent.
If I remember your kitchen layout correctly, just outside that doorway by the fridge is a pantry (if standing in that doorway it’s to the right)? I would seriously consider switching the pantry with the fridge and adding a door to the doorway. You lose a little convenience but save your sanity. If you do replace I’d suggest the Frigidaire least expensive top freezer no frills except the ice maker. I bought my first at age 19, got the exact one at 39 and I just turned 60 and it’s still going strong. It was the same price both times I bought it, $600. I did remove the ice maker though. Best I can suggest 🤷♀️
I had all new GE appliances installed over 5 years ago and they have been great! I can”t hear my refrigerator running and it doesn’t run often. I only open one side at a time almost all of the time. Mine are black stainless. Good luck on your search!.
My Whirlpool fridge is doing good but it does groan on occasion. I have freezer on top and fridge on bottom. Never did hook up the ice maker, it takes up too much room. No problems so far. Purchased 2008.
I just bought a whirlpool fridge, but it is bottom fridge single door. I had the same model Amana for 16 years & moved it to the garage. I thought at first it ran a lot, but the noise is minimal. I don't hear it anymore. I always buy appliances at my local appliance store, so I would not be able to get Samsung & would go for the Bosch. I believe Bosch has a better reputation. I had my FL Bosch washer for 19 years. Good luck.
The only problem with buying a Bosch is you might run into trouble if it does need repairs. I looked into buying one when we built a new house and they said the only place that works on them are Bosch appliance people which is about two hours away from where I live, so you might need to double check that before buying a Bosch. We had an LG in our old house we had a lot of problems with the icemaker in the LG fridge. Happy shopping. I hope you find the perfect one.
I’ve had a Gibson refrigerator for at least 20 years and it has always had an overflowing ice maker-even after being replaced (although it’s better). 😄 But now I need to rethink my plans for a new Whirlpool fridge. 😳
I’m going through it right now with my KitchenAid refrigerator. It is freezing all of my food. I would not recommend LG. I had a new model LG oven and it went out and I could not get the part to replace it so I had to replace the entire Stove. I went back to just a regular stove and I have had zero problems I got an old whirlpool stove, never been happier. I think I’m going to look for a Frigidaire refrigerator. Good luck buying appliances these days feels like a life altering commitment lol
My Son bought a new home and it has all Frididare. It is really nice. Is French door and two drawers. Stainless goes with everything its not a problem. Then as the others go out replace with stainless. I think Bosh would be a way to go. Or check into Subzero.
I have the same one and it is perfect. A lemon, maybe?! Does Good Housekeeping offer replacements for products they endorse? Might be worth it to check.
we bought a whirlpool washer and dryer last year. One month in, the paint from the inside of the dryer drum started flaking off and we hardly used the dryer. We called the company and was told "that sucks but it isn't covered so just live with it". Unfortunately, all the big name companies also make the cheaper brands and models and just seem to divide up the names to slap on the products.
I have a Kemore Elite french door. I’ve had it for 15 years no problems at all. Now I hear that things are made so poorly that I wonder what I’ll buy when it quits. By the way, I don’t have to open both doors at once or shut it in a certain way.
Up in the left hand top of the outside of your frig under the cap there should be a troubleshooting guide that the repair men are only supposed to know it’s there but we have fixed our ice maker many times using the guide.Look and see if it’s there it’s worth a look.Could be under right cap/my sisters was under the opposite side for the instructions.
Our 20 year old GE refrigerator was quiet until the last 6 mos, when it started making noises and not cooling properly off and on. Since it was reliable for 20 years, we replaced it with another GE refrigerator. I was looking at the instruction book (after the refrigerator was delivered and installed) and saw a whole page on "Noises Refrigerator Can Make". Thinking I would find out (too late) what our old refrigerator was doing, I read it. No - it was telling me what "Normal" noises I could expect from my NEW refrigerator. Not only is it noisy, i believe it runs more that our old one did (or maybe it just seems that way because I couldn't hear the old one run all the time.) We also have white appliances and yes there is only a small selection of them to choose from.
I have a two, door Samsung refrigerator , it is silent and very efficient, we have had it for four years. , we lo e it, but true, it is not white. We have a Bosch dishwasher, it is so silent we forget it is on. We love that brand, it is excellent.
We just had a new Frigidaire installed 2 days before Christmas. Our old Samsung was a piece of junk and had some sort of weird short in the wiring and would just randomly cut completely off if we opened the door. It managed to last 6 years, but the ice maker stopped working after about 1 year. I will never buy another Samsung refrigerator. We had a Frigidaire before the Samsung, and it was good, so we decided to go with another Frigidaire. I will say it seems to run a lot, but it is not too loud. From what I understand, new refrigerators are designed to run pretty much nonstop.
Why do your appliances have to match? To me, if they work well, I’m fine. I have an old white Amanda fridge, stainless steel Bosch dishwasher, a black Kenmore stove and microwave, and a white stackable Samsung washer/dryer. I have zero complaints.
I've had several brands of appliances. Refrigerators: Frigidaire (came with the house-lasted us 6 years), then we bought a Kenmore (Sears-well over 20+ years old, Ironically, it died 20 years to the day AFTER we bought it), then we bought a GE in 2019 from Marketplace for $350. All of these refrigerators had ice makers in them, they were top door/bottom door refrigerators. We never once hooked up those ice makers because we needed the freezer room for food more than ice. Each fridge lasted a long time. The previous owner had hers for well over 20+ years too. But it died after my sweetie purchased the house. Then we had the Kenmore. Let me tell you, I miss that refrigerator. It was bigger than our current refrigerator. If you could see the weird set up of our kitchen layout, oh my gosh, it was NOT easy moving old refrigerator (the 2nd one we had-Kenmore-lasted exactly 20 years old) out of the kitchen (which didn't work), plus our (new to us-6 months old) $350 find on market place, that was a really difficult thing to do with 2 refrigerators in our kitchen. Thankfully, we made it work and got the old one out. (The Kenmore) Now, the 3rd one we have: the GE, bought from marketplace for $350 in I think 2019/2020 when there were shortages, delays, argh......it was crazy. I happened to find this on marketplace, did some super QUICK research on marketplace and measurements. I kid you not, a refrigerator popped up on my newsfeed, I never jumped so fast. The lady saved it for me. She'd bought it from an appliance place out here. The appliance place (local) had bought it from Lowe's 6 months earlier. She was only getting rid of it because she was updating her entire kitchen. We didn't hook up the ice maker. If I need ice, I make it in my countertop ice maker as well as large cube silicone trays or smaller cube silicone trays. That's how we do it instead of hooking up that silly ice maker. I understand the noise those things make and have refused to hook ours up. I'd rather make our own ice. No biggie to me. Sometimes my sweetie brings ice home. Most of the time, I'll make a batch over night when we're sleeping or early in the mornings and be done if I need it. When I was calling around for an appliance repair guy, he said: Stay away from: Samsung, LG, Whirlpool appliances. Ironically, Whirlpool is also the dryer we bought over 23+ years ago now-it's still going. He said that the parts are terrible to come by, they're extremely difficult to fix because usually, they can't get the parts for these appliances. He also stated to stay away from front loading washer/dryers for the same reason. But this fridge we have now, to me is too small. We just make it work for us because we have no other choice. We've gotten use to it for now. We also clean the back of it and underneath it frequently, just like cleaning out the dryer lent hose/vent. as well as cleaning out the washer as needed as well. So, I suppose it depends on each person and their needs, their budget, their circumstances. We also shop local appliance stores before a big store due to those pesky warranties. I had a Best Buy employee tell me that with the ice maker I bought (which still works to this day) that Best Buy will only replace the appliance ONE time for you. (This was in 2020.) That's it. If it goes out on you, even with a warranty, that's it. You have to replace it after the first time. Gotta love how they pressure you to get the warranty, then not honor it if you get a 2 year-4 year warranty. So, buyer beware, that's all I can say.
I have this side x side fridge bought I believe Feb 2018.... No issues... but you never know if this random stuff is going to happen to you with something you buy... especially an appliance. I do know that I had to change the default coolness level up a notch because it wasn't cool enough in the fridge.. I think level 4 out of 5...Yes, it does run a LOT!
We have had our black “whirlpool” refrigerator for 28 years it still works I now sense a little noise and it goes off here and there and I have to say I have dealt with it for so long that I’m used to it 🤣 I can see why it bothers you because cooking is your job, you UA-cam and you’re a cookbook author so you’re in the kitchen quite a bit in the day. I can see your frustration. I don’t know why I am so used to my whirlpool that it still works it matches the other appliances so I’m great 😊. Ps they don’t make them like they used to 🤣
My french door Samsung is quiet, and does not run often, and so far so good, have had it right at 2 years now,its not white, only noise it makes is dumping ice. My freezer drawer is on the bottom.l love mine.
I hope you can get a good fridge. We bought a Maytag side by side refrigerator when we moved here, 4 years ago. Works great. Our washer and dryer went out after the same time period. We had to buy new at the beginning of the Dec. We got Speed Queens. I wonder if they make refrigerators?
Hi Mike and Tawra! How frustrating to have this problem. We bought a Whirlpool dishwasher 4 years ago that we never run due to the noise and strong chemical odor. We could hear it all over the house. Although the cabinet around the refrigerator might contribute to it running longer, I don’t see how it would increase the noise. I have never had a side be side fridge. The upright, freezer on top has always been my pick because it has been around the longest. It is a simple design that has lasted. I hope you figure this out and find a new refrigerator that checks all the boxes. I really like white appliances too. Love your kitchen! Take care, God bless you all, and Happy New Year! ❤🙏💜🎉
I hate my French door Samsung. I can’t recommend Samsung either. Ours has water collecting under the drawer bins and it freezes so the drawers freeze and you can’t open them. We have to empty the water out of it every few weeks or it becomes a solid sheet of ice. The appliance sales guy at Lowe’s said he had a customer report their doors froze shut on their refrigerator and freezer. They had to unplug it to thaw it in order to get their doors open on it. 😬
I would go with bosch. If their large appliances aee as good as their small appliances, you will have it forever. You could do white appliance paint or contact paper
I have a Samsung with the changeable glass front (colors) i have the white. The freezer is on the bottom which i didn’t think id like but i love that too. Another thing i like i can write menu, grocery list with erasable markers & wipe right off. Had 2 yrs, pretty quiet. Definately be prepared hubby spent $2400 on it. I nearly died when they told me...BUT i got 12 months same as cash interest free at home Depot. Im 65 so hopefully last fridge ill need to buy 😊
I have an LG Side by Side and hi love it and it’s so quiet! I got it 5 months ago from Costco for a great price! Sorry for your trouble! Merry Christmas!❤️🎄❤️
Well now. 1st who cares if it matches or not. My fridge (sears kenmore old old) is white and my stove is black. I can tell ya my speed queen washer is the best. My dryer is whirlpool and it's old still working. I expect the dryer to go at anytime. Big thing is don't buy from home depot or lowes. Even their lawn mowers all garbage. I say buy a Canadian appliance my freezer is a Grandy or Grady can't remember that is 4 yrs old. Still love it and it's super quiet.
I dislike side by sides, they are two restrictive. I like the French door style because things don't get lost in the back. And I agree you should take the fridge out of the enclosed space.
Tawra, I have an LG refrigerator that my compressor failed on after 3ish years. I was able to get them to come out and replace it free of charge. It was a fairly easy process to get it set up, just took a few days to get the tech out. I don’t know how easy it will be to get a tech in your neck of the woods compared to me in mid Michigan. The techs are independent contractors. Ours was a very sweet Asian man with limited English. My fridge is a single door bottom freezer. It is black stainless steel which does chip- so wouldn’t recommend the color. My choice of LG was based on the size of fridge I could hold in my kitchen (my fridge opening is less than an inch too short for the newest fridges) and the style of fridge we like (single door, bottom freezer no ice in door is rare). Message me if you have any questions.
Go with the Bosh. See if you can special order the color you want if it’s important to you. Or you can go with the cheapest quietest refrigerator you can find even if it’s LG expecting to replace it every few years.
Have you ever thought about Fisher and paykel. It’s an industrial refrigerator. I don’t know if it’s quieter, but it lasts a heck of a lot longer than what we can buy at Lowe’s or Home Depot.
I have an LG. It is French door ,because the space its in can't take a bigger door size. The ice maker is in the freezer. After many years, I got a puddle underneath, but I was able to fix it with the help of UA-cam. THE freezer drain was freezing. I ran a copper wire from the coils inside the freezer to the drain ( all behind the plastic in the freezer, out of sight ) to keep it from freezing. Its been many years since that simple fix. I don't use the ice maker. I don't like the taste, since they sit there too long.
Have you checked into Kenmore? I bought a huge vertical Kenmore freezer, that has been very quiet and dependable. (6 years+) I'd consider a Kenmore fridge when it's time. ( I'm living on a dime.....don't see the need to replace appliances to match....just for Color....now if one was orange and one was hot pink....yes! One would have to go. Just my opinion) I, also, would be driven mad with the sound....I hope you can find a heavenly fridge you are happy with! I will also say a prayer for longevity and dependability! For the new one. ♡♡♡
Kenmore is very hard to find now and most appliances with the Kenmore badge are whirlpools. Those older whirlpools (especially their laundry products) lasted forever. Kenmore was mostly sold at Sears, which is about dead. I think Wayfair is selling Kenmore.
We have a Bosch side by side. That is, freezer on one side and fridge on the other. It is about 10 years old. It is very quiet and has never needed a repair.
thanks for the info, might I add a comment,do not get a Kenmore either, planning on rolling my current fridge right down the back steps and then shutting the door and calling the scrap metal guy,it will be sweet relief
Got a Kenmore (French door on white) back in 2015 from Sears. So far so good! Wanted an LG, but if remember correctly none were available like yesterday (mine was on its last leg!j) so needed one before the old one died completely. I dislike stainless steel appliances or in dark colors. Like other people commented, maybe remove that enclosure.
Check the lemon law I think it is if you have to have it fixed 3 times for the same thing you should get a new one or put that money towards a better/ different one
Have you looked into the classic brand they are really cool retro looking appliances with modern features. They also come in white .I don't own any but would consider them when I need to replace something.
After the refrigerator went out that was sold with the house to us by my husband's friend. We purchased a Maytag but ours is not a side by side. Freezer on top and fridge on the bottom. We have had it for approximately 15 to 17 years. I dislike the ideas of side by side. The only thing that I dislike about our Maytag is that the exterior paint is rough. Therefore, any magnetics that we want to stick on it have to be strong.

I had my whirlpool for over 10 years. It was awesome, but when it started having issues, we were told it was cheaper to replace than to repair.
That does make sense.
Purchased a no frills fridge in 2020-been happy. No ice water, no ice. Don’t need the potential problem of a flood.
Your fridge never stops running because when you built a box around it you eliminated the air flow so your fridge motor is constantly hot. You need to move your fridge away from the back wall a few inches and not have it completely enclosed. Your fridge is working overtime trying to stay at the right temperature inside.
Actually it kept running no stop almost before they had the box built around it.
Oh you have no idea we have an LG refrigerator that's on its fourth compressor in less than 2 years.
To me, NOTHING these days are made to last because they want you out there buying, buying, buying their crap. :'( All about the financing and $$$$.
Kitchen Aid still makes good dishwashers. I bought one 3 years ago and love it.
@dianehaskins8640 they do. KitchenAid is their high end where Amana is the lowest and Whirlpool and Maytag are middle of the road.
I would not replace the stove and dishwasher just to have matching if you get a stainless fridge.
I thought the same thing! That would not bother me in the least.🤷♀️
Some dishwashers have panels on the front that can be changed to get the desired color.
I have had the same Bosch dishwasher for 17 years still works great and still quiet.
My sister bit the bullet and bought a Bosch dishwasher; who knows how many years ago. She is very pleased with it AND it coordinated with the color scheme. She would have bought it had it not coordinated.
I agree. Love the Bosch dishwasher. Haven’t heard if they make good refrigerators.
@@ALETA-SUE We replaced our 16- & 17-year-old fridge & stove because of the coming tariffs.
My advice is to find a 1950’s, 60’s fridge. I’ve heard a bunch of problems of several appliances. Why does it matter that they match???? Working is #1😉.
This is what I would do
I agree that older appliances could be better made, but wouldn’t it consume more electricity?
Yeah if you can find an old one! Us alot of the ols ones you have to defrost! I remember that as a kid in the 1970 s!
Amen
@ no more than the one she’s got. She said it rarely shuts off! Besides we’ve been lied to about energy efficiency…..our electric bill has only gone up in our 47 years of marriage, and everything we use is “supposed “ to be energy efficient. Lies lies and never ending lies.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents - I live in a rural area and my LG frig failed. Called about 10 repair shops in my county and the neighboring 2 counties. No one would service my LG. I picked their brains a bit and the repair guys said that no
one will service LG and Samsung - and to avoid these brands.
Most refrigerators need air space around them. Check your manual.
When Bosch came into our area-
we remodeled our old kitchen and loved our Bosch appliances- when they worked correctly. We had the ovens, cooktop and dishwasher.
Had to replace the dishwasher 2x in a year and had the cooktop worked in that year on to the point it was considered a lemon and replaced.
The ovens never gave me trouble and cooked perfectly- until the door broke. (That was my fault but my awesome husband fixed it!)
Would I do it all again? I didn’t when we built our house. But we’ve replaced GE and Samsung stuff more and Bosch worked better when they worked. It’s exhausting. If I could afford to throw them all out and replace with Bosch right now- I probably would.
I have a frigedare and had it for years no problem. I had a side by side doors previously and hated them. I got just a regular one this time. Our went out the week of Christmas 20 years ago and we got this one and no problem.
I have the 3 door Fridgedare and I LOVE IT! It is the best! And it has alot more room than a side by side.
Yes! I have a Fridgedare in white that's around three years old and it's VERY quiet unless the icemaker is filling up with water.
That is what we have too. The freezer in the side by side is just too narrow.
That’s what I have and I love it.
I Looove my Whirlpool refrigerator. 5 years with no issues and counting. You got a lemon.
I think you misspelled demon 👿😂
My fridge is 30 years old. And still running well it’s a. GE They don’t make them like they use to
Mine is 38 yrs old and if it goes out now l will give it a loving pat and say "well done my friend".😅 It's an Amana.
Kenmore used to be the best. Years ago we always got Kenmore. Not any more. I don't even know which brands are the best anymore.
I just replace all my stuff in my kitchen refrigerator stove and dishwasher are all GE they're awesome.
@@candacewright7575 I have the same brand in an upright freezer. I love it too!
We have a Hisense, too, and love it!
We have a Frigidaire Gallerie side by side. No issues at all.
I have a Kenmore Elite. Has one large door on top refrigerator and a pull out bottom drawer for the freezer. Relatively quiet.
I have a Kenmore and it works perfectly
We have always had GE appliances and we have always gotten our money's worth.
I have a Bosch refrigerator and I love it. Quiet 🤫
Have a LG for a very long time. No issues.
Good luck on your search!.
we have a Frigidaire. 2 door. one side is freezer and other is frig and white. It doesn't make any noise.
My Whirlpool fridge is doing good but it does groan on occasion. I have freezer on top and fridge on bottom. Never did hook up the ice maker, it takes up too much room. No problems so far. Purchased 2008.
We have a Whirlpool fridge and it's been great!
I have a Mitsubishi French door and you can open the doors individually. It is a fantastic fridge
I have a no frills Amana freezer on bottom no ice maker fridge we got it 2007 used!!!
We got a whirlpool 1 year ago and it works perfectly. No ice maker.
We have a costco off brand fridge for our second home that we are renovating. So we are only there once a month. It is quiet. Seems to be good.
Hope your Christmas was great
I hope you can get a good fridge. We bought a Maytag side by side refrigerator when we moved here, 4 years ago. Works great. Our washer and dryer went out after the same time period. We had to buy new at the beginning of the Dec. We got Speed Queens. I wonder if they make refrigerators?
Our GE has French on top doors. The doors open independently and you do not have to open both.Icemaker but no water dispenser.
Thank you
I dislike side by sides, they are two restrictive.
THE freezer
drain was freezing. I ran a copper wire from the coils inside the freezer to the drain ( all behind the plastic in the freezer, out of sight ) to keep it from freezing. Its been many years since that simple fix. I don't use the ice maker. I don't like the taste, since they sit there too long.
You guys are very cute together; it’s like watching an old Johnny Cash and June Carter video. ❤
Have you checked into Kenmore?
I bought a huge vertical Kenmore freezer, that has been very quiet and dependable. (6 years+)
I'd consider a Kenmore fridge when it's time.
( I'm living on a dime.....don't see the need to replace appliances to match....just for Color....now if one was orange and one was hot pink....yes! One would have to go. Just my opinion)
I, also, would be driven mad with the sound....I hope you can find a heavenly fridge you are happy with!
Some days I think Whirlpool and Boeing were collaborating when my fridge was produced.
Some days it sounds like an F14 warming up for takeoff.
There is style fridge with a drawer UNDER the French door above the freezer. Mine is a Samsung purchased in 2013
Have you looked into the classic brand they are really cool retro looking appliances with modern features. They also come in white .I don't own any but would consider them when I need to replace something.
Save your money and switch the up and downstairs refrigerators.
I think having a stainless steel fridge would look fine with the other appliances. I would not replace them!
I open my French door fridge, one door at a time. I don't open both unless I have something big to put in or out. I don't like side by side, at all
I don't either,French doors work better for me.
