Fuurin Kazan Teaser floating around on the internet. It is a teaser for the first half of Fuurin Kazan. (which means its sans-Gackt who made his first appearance today 6/17/07). but it is an awesome teaser.

This was one the better Taiga drama in NHK history. This one-year series was shown in Japan around same time Showtime was broadcasting The Tudors. I used to watch both The Tudors and Fuurin Kazan and mentally contrasted the two shows. Both Fuurin Kazan and The Tudors are historical dramas portraying historical events of early 16th century. In fact, Anne Boleyn and Kansuke Yamamoto, a historical Japanese samurai and central character of Fuurin Kazan, were born the same year, 1501. (Boleyn died in 1536 while Yamamoto died in 1561.) As I was watching these two excellent shows, I was contrasting the lives of Anne Boleyn and Kansuke Yamamoto and thinking with some amusement that these two were walking this planet exactly the same time, about four hundred years ago. It is also interesting to note that “The Tudors Anne Boleyn” teaser and this “Fuurin Kazan” teaser of UA-cam are portraying historical events, which were taking place around the same time, former in England in 1520s and 1530s and latter in Japan in 1520s and 1530s, respectively.

I'm posting three years later to tell you that while the premise of your comment is interesting, there is not conclusion which ultimately renders it a waste of time.

This is the best taiga drama i've seen - if you are into tactics and philosophy this is a must-see. Great stories, plots and sub-plots and some great characters in Yamamoto Kansuke, Nagao Kagetora, Sanada Yukitaka and Sessai. Masaaki Uchino and Gackt are the real stand-outs. The old school are well represented by Sonny Chiba and Nakadai Tatsuya. Check it out.

I think I may have to dig up a sub of this. Uchino Masaaki looks like he's channeling Toshiro Mifune, and that can only be a good thing! XD
