    Hey, my apologies. I didn’t realize I was being disrespectful. After I called Max to see if they would give me the same price they said don’t believe what you see or hear on the internet. Kept shopping around and found a 22 r18 b first edition with 712 miles for 9000 at an estate auction in Texas. Imagine that! Shipped it up and paid the tax and fees! Unbelievable price. This this is brand new with Texas highway mileage. The poor guy passed away from cancer but always wanted to ride so he got the best bike for his last days. I’m riding in his honor and will take care of this thing!

      Glad you found a great deal and enjoy the ride. It's typical for dealers not match internet prices but I was being honest about what I paid. If you search CycleTrader, you'll see lots of good deals are out there but you got a great bike there. Enjoy it!

    Thanks for your reviews Adam. I bought the R18 TC just before winter here in Western Canada. A fully loaded TC with highway foot rests for peanuts. I rode it everyday for two weeks then it snowed… compared to the HD ultra, out of the box the value can’t be beat.

    Not a clue about you though it is good timing for me to have watched. Liked the info you shared, darn wind noise on audio not withstanding. Kind of you to do it and post for others to see. Look forward to your bike review of this model and see if the love is still fully there :)
    I have a 19 goldwing tour dct airbag model. Don’t find the seat that great, if one stays within the fairing protection zone heat is not an issue though this new wing kicks off a lot of it if you spread your legs out wide then it is felt. Just rode the R18b and did like it. I am a fan of the looks, fairing (I need one_ and locking bags). Yes it is a pig weight wise and front in will drop the bike like the r1200clc does/did. Do love the engine on the wing and figured less issues or reasons it would need to go to the shop for service. Read the air filter is a nightmare on the wing…why honda why and the Honda selection for nav company sucked big time.
    Questions -
    1. How is the heat management? Do the big jugs kick off a lot of heat when in town and traffic backed up when outside temps (air) is higher?
    2. How has the suspension been over bumps, still ‘good enough’?
    3. Are the bags big enough to be usable? I know bmw won’t bring over any r18b without speakers (takes up space) in the bags it seems (don’t’ know if one can get a radio with just front speakers).
    4. Due to price I realize it was not on the table though did you like the blueish color r18b model (…yes personal choice thing). Just wondering if the blue color would get old after away.
    5, In your review let us know how it is living with the weight of this bike.
    Thank you so much for posting

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jeff, I saw your post on the MOA Forums as well. Lots of questions. I just concluded a 5,000 word 'review' for my blog but I need to edit it first. I'll try to just quickly summarize some answers.
      1. The jugs & headers are very hot. I don't have traffic where I live so I can't say how well they do in stop and go traffic but I know these things cook pretty good when stopped and parked.
      2. Bagger suspension is very good. not GS-like but much better than other cruisers I've ridden. it's electronically controlled damping and preload
      3. I have a BMW GS Adventure with Jesse luggage. these boxes are tiny. good for a. change of clothes and a sandwich and shoes for work. good enough for hoteling. Overnighters and weekend trips, it'll be fine. I wouldn't want to do a cross-country trip on it. the Harley baggers have larger side boxes.
      4. I saw a few of these in person, in a dealer and at a rally and it was filthy. I think the purple looks pretty meh after being covered with road debris after 1,000 miles. If you can keep it waxed, it'll look great. I think the black will freshen up easier so long as I can keep it waxed. both the black, matte and purple are all 'must maintain' paints to look great.
      5. Will do, heavy bike but I'me enjoying it.

    If you are 6':2" and, 200 pounds or more then this bike may make sense, otherwise for shorter lighter guys like me (5':10" and 175 pounds) just forget about buying the R18-B or R18-T. These two cruisers are top heavy add to that the massive weight of the bike, U-turn on these was frightening during the test ride.

    • @AdamChandler86

      Yep, that’s why I mentioned my ergonomics also 32” inseam before boots. I’m a tall leg-heavy guy and can easily flat foot and muscle my GS adventure through really rough terrain so the R18 is an easy bike to ride. I think everyone should test ride one of these before they buy especially if they’re not big and fat like me.

      I've only ever owned BMWs so I don't know. As a BMW owner, I'll say this is higher than most BMWs because service intervals are lower. You have to do the shaft fluid, valves, oil every 6K miles. This is half the interval of the same motor style in a GS or RT. You can do all of those yourself (I posted how-to videos) but coming from a GS, I don't like the service intervals.

    What is that blinking light on bottom of TFT?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 роки тому +1

      ...at video start? That's going to be another video when the damn cable I need comes in. TFT is Android Powered (of course) and BMW left in the ChromeCast features and baked them into the Connected smartphone app (not sure if you're techie or not) but if your iPhone has Connected running and the screen is active (not turned off), you'll get an immersive full-screen 3D mapping experience. It's really gorgeous but if you switch apps or click the power button, it'll go away and default to turn by turn directions so the instructions are, use BMW's perfectly sized USB-C to Lightning cable and insert your phone into the fuel tank pocket leaving the screen on. There's a built in fan in there as well and you'll have a full screen map. so that blinking white icon is the chrome cast app searching for my iPhone which is paired but not 'unlocked'. I'll do a full TFT walkthrough when that cable arrives.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 роки тому

      Here's the cable - www.shopbmwmotorcycle.com/products/bmw-additional-accessory-socket-kit Overpriced but it fits that small space perfectly with a 90 degree connector on the bottom. It'll screw up my 'screen time' stats though since it forces the screen stay on all day.

    How's the buffeting with that windshield, im 5'6", riding a vaquero right now, thinking this would b a nice retirement gift to myself. Nice bike, its growing on me, the rt I owned was to tall and after minicuus surgery , I didn't like the sport peg position. Owned quite a few of airheads r75, 60, 65, r100rs, i like your financial strategy, gs is out of the question lol especially with a 29" inseam!!

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 роки тому

      The problem with windscreens is everyone is different. I'm 6'3" with an XL sized helmet. It's a lot of clean wind but no buffeting. A lot of wind comes up from underneath the fairing as well. I upgrade the windscreen to a larger one and there's no zero wind straight on but still a lot from down low so there is stock turbulence that even a windscreen can't stop. ----- This is a very good bike. If you can ride one on the interstate for a few miles to test it out, please do.

      I never was attracted by the concept of this kind of bike. And last Friday I had an invitation from my local BMW dealer to an promotional event for this Cruiser bike and I attended. But I wasn’t keen on the bike, so I arrived with a reserved mindset to the occasion. They offered me the bagger R18 very similar to yours, blue paint version and without wind shield…but equipped with a wind deflector in the front just located in the upper side of the front light and radar. I don’t know how they’ve made that deflector thing but I saw my self doing some 20 miles rolling on a speed of 80 mph on the highway, with absolutely no wind on my body and very few, nearly imperceptible breeze over my helmet …And I went nuts with the experience! On the event that was the only bike with that front configuration, the rest of the other were more like the one that you got, and it was quite a revelation for me, no wind noise, nor buffeting…It got me strangely impressed! How have they done that??! The bike really got me by surprise I never expected to enjoy so much such a huge and heavy bike, but the truth is that I loved it! The torque of that engine the comfort and the easy handling of the bike turned out to be totally different and better than what I was expecting.😊
