One thing not noted (or perhaps I missed) is WHEN in your process to seek pre-approval. While pre-approvals can be extended, most are only good for 90-120 days. Getting it earlier may help you uncover any hidden issues with your creditworthiness before you're in too deep, but getting it too soon may require you to repeat the process or seek extensions.
