    It is worth noting that using a detergent cleaner on a waffle plate is never recommended ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn though people who don't understand about kitchen hygiene won't understand that a stiff brush is all that is necessary to clean the inside of the unit. Let it cool slightly but still perform the cleaning while it's warm. I used to have a Black and Decker unit that I just loved, and was concerned when we had to replace it that I might not find one that I like just as much. This one does it for me.

    Today i prepared it and batter was semi solid........so waffle was hard .....nd waffle got overheated and burnt little....how to avoid it and how to make it crispy

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  10 років тому

      Hello, Shivanka Humnekar - We're so sorry to hear your waffle-making efforts weren't successful. That's disappointing. From your description, there are several possible reasons why things didn't work out.
      1) If the batter was hard, did you chill it before you used it? It it was cold, it would be stiff. With the eggs and 2 cups of milk, it should be pourable. The vegetable oil in the batter will make them crisp--as well as being cooked in the waffle iron.
      2) Were all the ingredients measured accurately? (Here's a link to the recipe so you may review these: allrecipes.com/Recipe/Moms-Best-Waffles/Detail.aspx)
      3) The overheating and burning make it sound like the waffle iron got too hot. Does it have a temperature gauge so you can lower the temperature? And did you season the iron before pouring in the waffle batter? Brushing the surface with butter or vegetable oil will prevent the waffle from sticking and burning. Continued use will also help. If the waffle iron starts smoking, this means it's too hot and needs to be turned down. A good signal to look for before the waffle burns.
      We hope you try making waffles again. Please let us know how things go if you do.

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  7 років тому

      Thanks for your questions, Kylerian King. Yes, you may substitute butter (melted) for the oil called for in the recipe, but you will need to use 2 cups of milk. The recipe makes four servings. Here's a tip for the next time you have these questions: Click the link at the top of the page -- right below the "Published on" date -- and you will find answers, plus be able to read reviews by other home cooks how have made the recipe and have suggestions. Can i replace vegetable oil with buttermilk?

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  10 років тому

      Thanks for your question, Fannisa Rinadi. Because vegetable oil and buttermilk are very different ingredients and have different purposes in the waffle batter, you can't substitute one for the other. You could use melted butter in place of the vegetable oil, if that's available. And you might replace 1 cup of the milk with buttermilk if you like. • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  7 років тому

      Thanks for your question, Destiny's Music Channel. It's hard to answer exactly what happened without being in your kitchen to see, but it's possible the baking powder is past its expiration date and not working to make the waffle batter rise when it's cooked. The waffle iron might have also gotten too hot and overcooked the waffles. Here's a link to the original recipe if you wish to review the steps and ingredients: allrecipes.com/recipe/45396/easy-pancakes/

    is there anything that can be used other then baking powder?

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  9 років тому

      If you don't have baking powder, Tania Lopez, you can make a substitute using baking soda with cream of tartar. Combine 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda. For example, mix 2 teaspoons cream of tartar with 1 teaspoon baking soda. Use the same amount as the amount of baking powder called for in the recipe. That’s no matter how much homemade “baking powder”
      you made. Hope this helps.

    Hi I don't have baking powder. Is there anything I can substitute it for?

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  8 років тому

      Yes, Im Vu, and the answer is "baking soda." It's another leavening agent and works the same way as baking powder -- to help baked goods rise. You'll need to mix the baking powder with cream of tartar. To do this, combine 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda. For example, mix 2 teaspoons cream of tartar with 1 teaspoon baking soda. Then, use the same amount of the new mixture as the amount of baking powder called for in the recipe. For this recipe, it's 2 teaspoons. Save any leftover for another baking project.

      Guess what, Nisha Patel? They are the same thing. "Plain flour" is the name in the UK and Europe, while in the U.S. it's called "all-purpose flour." Use the same amount called for in the recipe. Happy baking!

      Hmmm, that's no good, Tres Balas. We guessing your waffle iron isn't heating evenly. Can you adjust the temperature? Otherwise, you may need to buy a new one. Sorry!
