    Just watched this again for the first time in years, and somehow it's even more striking now, like it's come full circle, the Nomads are free and we're stuck where we are. Very fine piece of film-making Ramz

    Thank you guys for filming such an essential video. This was an amazing documentary I've ever seen about nomads living around yet. And I'm super excited about how Kazakh expats dwelling in Mongolia 🇲🇳 keep such a kind of nomadic lifestyle until now, as far as I know, nowadays, we have got out of this kind of nomadic lifestyle thanks to the technologies and modern life advances. Actually, I'm originally Kazakh and live in my fatherland Kazakhstan 🇰🇿. Even though I noticed that in my country nomads do not follow their ancestors' footsteps for the time being now as we use big and all-wheel-drive SUV cars instead of riding on horses and unfortunately, we do not even consume our national house KEIZ UI for shepherding and we no longer hunt with an eagle, so, by seeing this documentary movie I've found some old Kazakh folk songs played in the national instrument Dombyra. I definitely enjoyed it and slightly excited about the Mongolian Kazakh accent. It really differs from ours. Anyway, that's great to know and to have a look back to the way our ancestors did. PS. It would be better to name this film "Mongolian Kazakh Nomadic Life".

    Now THAT, is an adventure ! How very well done of you, in every way. Respect was shown, trials and tribulations dealt with. You cannot grasp, how very much better it was to watch, than the (broad brush stroke yet, honest) patreon driven/ faceboo / inst-oh generic trips.
    Thank you, you very much deserved all the inspiration you no doubt gained throughout the trip.
    May you keep it up.

    It's sad that we, the peoples of the so called "modern" West world, have lost all our natural connection to the earth. We live in a pseudo world, in a surreal bubble. Separated from the real and authentic conditions of our existence. We no longer share a bond with nature and the other beings that live there. We have removed ourselves both physically and spiritually from the earth give us life. A truly weird situation.

    Thank you for this wonderful and great documentary. I am a Chinese American that has lived in New York City all my life. I would like to share a piece of thoughts. These down to earth people that we saw on this film are truly people of humanity. If you were a stranger in NYC and wander into a neighborhood, you are either ignored or shot. America wants to democratizes every country, people and society to be like her. Americans proclaimed themselves as modern and civilized people on earth - as we witnessed the lovely, gentle people in this film, who is the true civilized people? Perhaps, some reader ask, why am I still in America if I am so against Americans? I have a complicated situation, suffice to say the US government have confiscated my passport, will not allow me to leave. Allow me to quickly correct what I have said about America. I am not against American but the government; the arrogance and the murdering... .

    • @tienglongmy
      @tienglongmy 8 років тому +6

      +Joseph Lee 1. The steppe nomads were traditionally warring tribes, and the lady near the end of the video talked about another tribe raiding hers. It's not "peaceful" there, it's a hard way of life. 2. These "lovely, gentle people" won't be so lovely and gentle when you overstay your welcome. You would be expected to pull your weight, do chores, hunt, work, etc., to support the tribe. 3. They didn't "wander in," they had to wait to be invited in (probably because they'd be shot or attacked if they just wandered in-or maybe it would just be rude!) 4. America has its own culture, and I'm tired of outsiders bashing it. According to you, we're not "truly people of humanity," we're not "the true civilized people," we're not "lovely gentle people," are you kidding me? We all adapt to our environments and learn how to survive in them. Just because ours is different does not make it better or worse. Statistically, it is easier to survive and succeed in the US (plus everything is convenient as hell, especially compared to Europe), but I digress.
      BTW, I am also tired of our government trying to help all these other countries improve their quality of life, it seems like it is hurting them more than helping. Oh, except in countries like North Korea where 20% of their population died in the 90's due to starvation, and they now pretty much rely on our food donations to survive-I guess we'll just have to make this one exception.

    • @kitxxxxxxx
      @kitxxxxxxx 7 років тому +2

      North Korea is closed to the world. Lol and what a country to pick to compare yourself to.
      It's easier to succeed in America compared to everywhere else, "especially" Europe> really?!
      Yes there are private charities but America as a country bullies other countries, politically and through war. it also bullies it's own people.

      It's also because all of our world is interrelated, what happens in one place can affect us in another place far away.
      Reindeer have hairs that are hollow (to hold air for insulation) and they graze on lichen (which holds radiation like some fish hold mercury) and therefore reindeer have been getting incrementally less healthy ever since Chernobyl.
      You can even test this with a well-calibrated radiation detector -- Compare some pre-1986 reindeer fur, from older hides, to modern reindeer fur hides. Modern ones read higher than background levels. 😕
