I was looking online to see if anyone had my idea - I had this exact idea last week while daydreaming in my brother's cramped place! Engineering details and all (besides for camera pics of each item) I'm psyched! They seem to have captured my wierd, wild dreams that I thought ppl would laugh at, at first but would love once it's doable! WOW it's crazy. I feel cloned ;) lol.
So in a multifamily, if I don't want my kids to have access to an specific compartment, will I be able to lock it? Love this idea, I have 12' ceiling. In my kitchen, I could hide those pesky pots that I keep on top of my wall cabinets
Yes, it is. Plus all units will come with a personal "live" "on demand" 24/7 butler (buttler for san francisco) with a strong indian accent (or any other accent of your choice) stored in the ceiling, on stand-by, and available at a click of a button. a A very good deal indeed.
When he was talking about "traditional" furniture (15:55) it sounded like he didn't know what ikea is. You just buy the furniture and build it or have it built, there's no carpenter coming and measuring your rooms and doing custom builds. This modularization and reduction in labor has already happened. I'm not saying that no furniture ever gets custom build, I'm just saying this area has already been innovated in. I like the idea of using all the volume instead of all the area in a living space, but I don't think just hanging furniture does it any better. I think a combination of normal shelves (8-9 levels) at walls and hanging furniture (1 level shown here, potentially more) in places where you don't want to have furniture permanently on the ground (such as hallways) would use space the most efficiently. I don't know how this would play out with building safety if such a hanging drawer would be stuck in the low position and then blocking an emergency walkway. However I am exited about the AI butler functionality. You could link it up to your calendar and have it be predictive (he put on his jacket, better give him his shoes). Lot's of possibility there.
Nope it's way too expensive. I can just build it myself if I was that desperate. Although I just say the sharing idea is pretty impressive. Do they have any patents?
There are always things you could personally build yourself. I think the thought that this idea could one day become mainstream in living spaces makes it more enticing.
@@wigris2961 It can't become mainstream without price. Space-saving for apartments is not new--everyone has been living in an apartment in Asia and other places for a long time. They're going to have to be cheaper than the already existing solutions like hide-a-beds, futons, shelves (with a step). Then as he said, every single municipality has different building codes. This comment section is full of tech people who don't reno homes haha
duke1duke1 : They will be focusing on new or specific development projects so the developer can take some of the risk and of course do the math for them. Municipalities may have different enforcement and different tolerances/specifications but there are also national regulations that states/counties can't just ignore. Either way they are aiming for larger projects where your concerns doesn't even apply. Also i doubt you should feel threatened by this so and it's never good to shoot down ideas where it looks like you have financial interest in things remaining as they are.
This type of content is the reason why I patreon this channel

Very Clever System! We need more solutions like this in the New Build Market... 👍🏻 🌃
Love learning about these new, interesting companies!
This would work well in Australia for Queenslander style building, high ceilings and poor storage, Brilliant idea 👍

How can I invest?
AlEggsProd i was asking the same question.

I like the closet idea but one good screwing and the bed will be out of commission
