    About your honey filling ....
    If you build a platform for the bottling tank to set on so that it is raised up, you can set the bottle on the table while it fills .... so you don't have to hold it. This does a couple of things for you
    1) it bring the bottle up to eye level, so you can see what you're doing
    2) it frees one of your hands so you can control the honey gate better (more precision)
    3) your arm doesn't get tired... ;-)

    Nice tank. I use deep stainless sinks with a bucket and strainer under the single drains. Vinegar works well as a cleaner and sanitizer. We used it in the distillery to clean the stills and equipment. Thanks!

    I really like the new tank. Hope it works out well for you. I use to raise worms in a box that I had put in the ground. It kept them cool and they could not get away. I used them for fish bait. Keep those videos coming.

    Pretty slick uncapping tank - I'm still using a bucket method as I tend to extract in small batches (8-frame extractor) than one big go! On that center bar if they put legs off of each end it could be slid back and forth rather than screwed in place. The "legs" keeping it square in the side tracks and not sliding off the track rail. LOL I'd be on the floor if I drank that half cup of mead! Did the worms on the kitchen counter in place of a compost bucket a long time ago. No fancy trays had a homemade set up... got my worms from the street gutters and from under decaying leaves - they worked just fine. Hoping and praying you have your strength and stamina back soon.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Рік тому

      HI Nancy. Yeah, I'm giong to have to figure out where I want that bar. I'm thinking closer to the end, but I'll try it there in the center where they have it first. That meade is pretty tasty with a little kick to it. lol I'll probably drink some today when I process my father in law's honey. We removed three full supers yesterday off of his one hive. He has some awesome forage around there in western OK. I might bring my worms inside this winter so they don't get too cold. I don't want to heat that apartment too much down there just for their sake. I do keep it warm enough not to freeze the pipes though. I'm getting better each day. If I could kick the cough and break out of this daily nap cycle, tha'd be great. lol Thanks for stopping in and have a fantastic week!

    Wine and Mead making is what caused us to move to our acreage. Since then I have gravitated towards country wines and most specifically, Elderberry Wine and Mead. This summer I ended up with two hives with 120lbs of harvestable honey and no experience. I've since harvested and have 10 gallons of Elderberry mead going from my own honey and Elderberries I foraged locally. I'd like to wait a year like what you got but it's hard!

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Рік тому

      Hi Steve. We'd like to start some grapes and elderberries here, but it gets so dry, we'd have to irregate them all the time. My last water bill was pushing $500, so that's not going to work. lol Good luck with your bees and wine and meade.

    Darren, HillCo has some good looking uncapping tanks. I had actually looked at them a few months ago and thought about buying one but I really don’t need one that big. I’m about to the point if I buy one I’m going to have to build or buy me a honey house. Maybe 12x20 to extract honey and store some of my bee related items. Have you ever thought about setting your bottling tank on a pedestal? I use a medium super with a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and set it back from the edge of my table, then I can slide 1 & 2 pound bottles down the table under the filling spout and it seems to work a little better for me than letting the spout hang out over the edge of the table. I sold a man a bucket of honey to make meade and he gave me a bottle to try so I think I’m going to try and make some myself. Thanks for the video!

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Рік тому

      Hey Don. Yeah, it's a nice tank. Those Mann Lake ones were ok, but I outgrew them. That's a good idea on that pedestal, I'll look into it. Good luck making meade. I don't think it's that hard. Like anything else, you have the up front equipment cost. My friend has been brewing beer and making meade for a long time. Have a nice week.

      Hey Keith. Yeah, I was really surprised at how close they tasted. My fall honey tastes completely different, and I was expecting yours to have a different flavor. I think yours was a little stronger sweet with that little spearmint/peppermint flavor right at the first. Thanks for sending it, that was a cool thing to do that taste test. Hopefully some other folks send me some. Thanks again!

    That thing is so shiny and reflective it almost looked invisible when it reflected the floor! It will be interesting to see it in action next year! Very cool worm farm we have one in our shed and feed them mostly banana peels and coffee grounds. The more moist the vegetables you put in the more juice you will get! May work good filtered and run through your irrigation system as fertigation.

      @JeromeBeeFarm  Рік тому +1

      Hey Brian, yeah, I shot a thumbnail by the tank, and you couldn't hardly see it, so I switched to one with the box. lol I like this worm bin thing, maybe I will expand like bees. lol My problem is keeping them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Thanks for watching.

      Hey Mike, those fawns were from different does. Mrs. Slash was off to the right out of picture. That doe I named Isis. That was the first I've seen her since she's gave birth. Yeah, I had a nice harvest, and promise to move the uncapper by the extractor next year. lol I thought I'd give that worm thing a try.
