I get that, mine too, i am Westport born and raised. It is sad, how the coal industry has been fobbed off with the loss of many jobs on the Coast. Bob.

My mother lived the first 23 years of her life on Denniston. I have been there several times during my life time. I saw the horses travelling up and down the hill and more recently visited the school house museum on Denniston to find records of my mother and her family in the 30s. My father met my mother during his visit to get work in the coal mine in 1953...They moved to the North Island in 1954 and settled in Huntly near my father's parents. My father worked many years as an opencast miner in Huntly... My grandfather retired from underground mining when he was diagnosed with heart disease and emphysema. Thanks for this video. 🙂

My recent crazy exes grandmother was born there. She owns the dennis bookstore in Westport now. Where everyone gets their lotto lol. Beautiful town. Just wish it had been better circumstances that I was here. Love visiting the historical sites. But alas im moving back up north in 3 weeks
